VALENCIA’S POV

All the council mbers appeared to be ashad and embarrassed, and Maverick squeezed my hand to tell not to talk about the things that hurt .

I was fine. I honestly was. But just because they were so kind of authority, I wasn’t going to trample on my man in the na of so hypocritical, sick rules.

"You know what? You need to upgrade your system, but more than that, you need to clean up your hypocritical thoughts. Let warn you," I paused and looked at them seriously.

"Apart from the council, my team will separately conduct research on this incident, and if I find out Alpha Tyler was involved, I am going to ruin him in the worst way possible. Please have a eting and decide the punishnt for that in advance," I said before looking at my man.

"Anyone who would try to punish my man here will face the wrath of the daughter of the forr council head, and believe ; I was helpless earlier. This ti, I won’t spare anyone. You guys really don’t know what kind of backup I have to boast about," I said before turning around with Maverick.

I took him straight to the infirmary, not once looking back or at him.

Pushing the doors open, I asked him to sit on the stool while looking for the dicine box.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" The doctor walked out from behind the curtains before looking at .

He asked if I needed to get my blood checked for obvious reasons, and I told him I needed him to treat Maverick.

The doctor got to work imdiately, and I stepped out briefly and took a deep breath.

’Did I sound scary enough?’ I asked Aurora, who had assisted in increasing my dominance in that room, and the wolf nodded at .

’You were aweso. I didn’t know you were so protective of him,’ Aurora said.

I didn’t know either.

Seeing my phone vibrating, I looked at the unknown number and furrowed my brows.

I picked up the phone and placed it over my ears, not saying anything.

"It’s Jason," the man said, but I still haven’t said anything.

"I have information about the rogues who have been following you. Honestly, I used to think Tory and Theo exaggerated a little when they said you were a trouble magnet, but after investigating things around you for so long, I realized they were right. I am coming near the council chambers. et in an hour," Jason said.

I scowled. Not like the way he was trying to say I was the problem here.

"How are you doing?" I heard a familiar voice beside , and I turned to look at the prince, my brows raised.

"Got it," I said before ending the call.

"I am fine," I replied curtly because I didn’t want to do anything with him, especially after he tried to sow discord between Maverick and .

"I heard what happened. It was really unfortunate. I am glad you are fine. This is not the ti or the occasion, but I would like to apologize for my behavior earlier. It wasn’t a man-like behavior at all. I beg your forgiveness. Also, I would like to formally invite you to attend the royal ball of the year," Prince Ethan said.

Before I could say anything, Maverick stood before , looking directly at the Prince.

"Talk to before you talk to my woman," He said.

I couldn’t help but smile shyly at his choice of words.

’Seriously? Is this the ti to get shy over his words?’ Aurora asked, though smiling, and I licked my bottom lip.

"Alpha Maverick, I know that we don’t exactly get on good terms, but I hope you can treat this invitation as a way from my side to extend a hand of friendship," Prince Ethan said, extending his hand toward us.

Maverick looked at the hand, a little skeptical, and I looked at him.

Will he shake his hand and accept this proposal of friendship, or will he not take his hand and indirectly tell the royals that he isn’t interested in their so-called fake royalty and fake hospitality?

I wondered before realizing how dramatically my thoughts resembled a gossip queen enjoying the show.

"We will be there like the rest of the alphas and Lunas," Maverick said before he took Prince Ethan’s hand and shook it.

I nodded in understanding.

It’s no wonder people like Maverick are at the top of the pyramid. They are so diplomatic and quick to sense any situation.

Maverick indirectly accepted his acceptance and rejected his proposal for the friendship at the sa ti, making it look like he wanted to keep this purely professional.

Prince Ethan obviously got the hint and smiled at us before nodding and leaving.

I sighed and turned to look at him.

His gaze was already on , a little more intense than I would’ve preferred.

"What is it?" I asked.

He got on his knees, his actions confusing .

"Will you beco my Luna, Valencia?" He asked.

I raised my brows, my eyes widening a little.

Where did that even co from?

"I swear I had all the ideas and intentions of waiting, but when you protected and took my stand without wavering, you have no idea what kind of pride I felt in my heart. I was proud of myself that I was given a chance to love you and be loved by you." He stood and cupped my cheeks, pushing into the wall and making my heart beat a little faster.

"Alpha Maverick, this is not the ti to think and talk about -"

"I never knew I was into this kind of thing. I never thought I liked being submissive, but the way you stood ahead of , choke , Mommy," Maverick said, and I widened my eyes, coughing on my spit, disbelief taking over my head as I looked at him, unsure if he really said that kind of words in broad daylight.

I looked around to ensure no one heard him say those words, but as soon as I looked towards my left, Uncle Jonathan, Dylan, and a few elders were standing there, probably here to check up on us. The way they were standing frozen, I knew they heard it, too.

Heat crept up my neck, and my head started to feel hot.

"Shut up," I said, pushing him away lightly before running away from the place.
