THIRD PERSON’S POV
Valencia was walking so distance when she heard a weird sound from the forest. Afraid that the rogue who had given her the pendant was back to et her, she looked around, hoping it wasn’t the case.
"Hey, how do you think that girl would react if she cos to know the alpha is planning sothing like this?"
She heard soone talking, and her brows furrowed.
What girl? What alpha?
What plotting was this person talking about? Was sothing going to happen tonight?
Since she was a mber of the council, it was her duty to ensure that the function of the birthday party of the council head’s son went well.
"She won’t know a word. Our alpha made sure about it. Besides, isn’t that woman who wants Alpha Maverick with us?" Another voice echoed.
Valencia’s pupils dilated.
Wasn’t that woman Cordelia?
Does that an she was here with ulterior motives in mind other than related to Alpha Maverick?
Valencia quickly followed the voices to see if she could catch one of the guys and get the truth out of them.
However, the more she walked in the direction, the further the voices felt.
’Are you sure that the n who you heard talking weren’t talking about you? They said she wouldn’t know. That girl’s reaction and things like that. Who do you think that other girl is?’ Aurora asked, and Valencia suddenly paused.
Right.
She was so curious about the matter that she didn’t even think if the other girl was her.
Besides, she heard those words so clearly, yet even after walking so long, she hadn’t caught any scent or hiding sprays of footprints that would say soone had walked there.
She pressed her lips into a thin line at the possibility of it being a trap and quickly turned around.
The quick movent made her head dizzy, and Valencia placed her hand on the nearest tree trunk to catch herself.
’What the hell is this?’ She whispered, wondering why she was feeling hazy like this.
If it was all about whatever effect the flowers had on her, she would’ve fainted directly. This was sothing else, unlike what she had felt before, especially on the balcony.
However, it was too late.
As soon as she turned around, she felt sothing pricking her skin.
After all these months of practice, she imdiately knew what hit her and clenched her teeth.
’Valencia,’ Aurora stood from her place, her eyes raging imdiately when she felt the presence of silver and wolfsbane in her system.
She looked at Valencia, who would’ve fought back easily, losing her balance.
The earlier dizziness, paired with the silver and wolfsbane in her system, got to her, and Valencia’s eyes turned glassy.
Her legs gave up, and she fell on her knees. She wanted to turn and see who had played this kind of trick.
As she fell down, her gaze fell on what looked like a recorder. She realized that the voices she had been hearing earlier were coming from this recorder, and she was fooled into entering the forests.
Her vision started to blur; A self-deprecating smile appeared on her face.
She felt soone lifting her body, and the absence of a burning scent made her know that the person who planned against her wasn’t a rogue.
If she had been refined and awake, her eyes would’ve darkened, and she would have attacked the person who put her life in danger like this.
But she lay helpless in the arms of the person who was walking away with her body.
Her eyelids felt too heavy, and it wasn’t long before she finally lost consciousness.
At the sa ti, inside the hall, Maverick, who felt a pulse running through his veins, looked at the woman before him.
This was the third ti he walked away from her, and she managed to sneak up on him, much to his dismay.
And what he hated even more was that he had to bear with it because none of the council mbers were saying anything, and his woman was gone already.
If she had been here, she would’ve definitely done sothing to save him from this annoyance.
"What do you want from ?" Maverick asked.
Cordelia smiled.
She blinked her eyes innocently.
"Do you really not know what I want from you, alpha?" She asked.
"I want exactly what you have given to Valencia. I want what every woman wants from her mate. Do you need more help in knowing what exactly that is?" Cordelia stepped forward and was about to place her index finger on his chest when he held her hand.
Maverick smiled.
It wasn’t Maverick.
It was Reaper.
The beast started to take over Maverick as his eyes turned amber, and he tilted his head.
"Of course, I know what you want from , Cordelia," Reaper whispered before he held her hand.
Cordelia’s pupils dilated when she felt the pressure that grip held, and her heart skipped a beat.
She had been testing her luck the entire night, and it was necessary for her to be able to do what she was here for.
However, who would’ve thought that the ntion of Valencia would be more than enough to snap him out of his daze and send him into this half-beast slumber?
"Alpha Maverick... leave my hand. You are hurting ," Cordelia whispered, her eyes glaring at the man.
Reaper smiled.
"Why should I? Didn’t you say you know exactly what I gave to Valencia?" Reaper said before he looked around, raising his voice and telling everyone what she demanded of him.
Dylan and Carl curled their brows, unsure what was going on.
They looked at each other, thinking the sa thing.
Reaper scoffed before raising her hand in the air, placing her hand under her raised hand. She suddenly felt out of confidence when everyone started to look at her like this.
She was acting tough earlier because she knew no one would throw her out for misbehaving with her since she had obvious reasons, but what was she supposed to do when the man was acting like this?
"Let give you what I gave to her," Reaper said.
As soon as he said those words, he pulled her to the dance floor.
The alphas and Lunas started to talk among themselves. They were shocked that the alpha agreed to dance with the woman who destroyed his life.
Did it an he was ready to forgive her because she was his mate? They wondered.
Dylan stepped ahead, ready to ask the alpha what he ant by this. How could he dance with this woman after promising all those things to Valencia? But before he could take another step and open his mouth to retort, Jonathan held his hand and shook his head at him.
"Don’t intervene," He said.
"But, dad," Dylan argued.
"Don’t. Listen to . Just don’t," Jonathan said.
Dylan looked back at his father with disappointnt before sighing.
Reaper smirked when he saw the smile on Cordelia’s face and her face relaxing.
It was a clear indication that all her thoughts were gone. Just when she was about to place her hand on his shoulders, thinking he would pull her closer, rather than allowing her to do it, he grabbed her hand.
Pushing her outwards with a jerk, he pulled her back, holding her hand again, making her widen her eyes at the intensity of that jerk.
She almost felt her insides shaking.
Reaper smiled.
"My woman actually likes fast dancing," Reaper said before he held her and threw her in the air, making her scream as he thought he would let go of her and make her fall to the ground.
However, much to her surprise, Reaper caught her, keeping her away from his chest, which made her body ache even more than the actual fall.
He pushed and pulled her again for so ti.
Everyone realized what the alpha was actually doing, and they looked down, pressing their lips into a thin line to control their smiles and laughs.
"And actually, my woman liked to spar with a lot since she wanted to beco the strongest female wolf so that no one would judge her for not having a wolf," Reaper said before he threw her.
Cordelia’s body hit the side of the pillar before falling to the ground, making her groan in pain.
"What are you doing, Cordelia? You asked what exactly I gave to my woman. If it had been Valencia, she would’ve stood back to fight," Reaper provoked her.
Cordelia coughed loudly, wiping the side of her mouth.
She saw a little blood and glared at the alpha.
It was a bad choice. She could see that.
"Co on, Cordelia. We are just getting started," Reaper grabbed her hand and jerked her up, forcing her to stand.
"Get into a fighting position. Let’s see what you have got," He said.
Cordelia, who knew she was no match against the alpha, clenched her fists before smiling when she didn’t see a particular soone in the hall.
"If I were you, I would be going and looking for Valencia, trying to coax her. But seeing how you spend ti with , I guess she isn’t that necessary after all," Cordelia said.
Reaper narrowed his brows, not liking the tone she was using.
What did she an by that?
