VALENCIA’S POV

"Everyone, Miss Valencia," The guards announced.

I took a deep breath, thankful that they stopped taking my surna because I had started to despise it.

I looked ahead, everyone looking back at with curiosity filling their gaze.

’Face the crowd like Luna’s daughter,’ Aurora said to motivate , and I humd.

It wasn’t as if I was nervous either way.

Blinking my eyes twice, I descended the first step, noticing how everyone started to make way for , probably knowing I was headed straight toward the stage.

With a soft smile lingering on my lips, I looked ahead confidently, holding my dress and descending another step.

"Please give the honor," I heard a voice and looked to my right side at Carl, who had his hand extended.

I was about to place my hand on him when I felt soone’s heated gaze. The feeling alone was enough to let know who that person was without even looking at .

"Of course,"

Placing my hand on Carl’s, I descended the rest of the stairs and walked towards the stage.

My gaze t with Alpha Carlos, Alpha’s son Samuel, and Prince Ethan before finally landing on Maverick.

As soon as I reached the center of the hall, he stepped ahead, his srized look making smile.

’Isn’t he a hot species of man?’ Aurora asked.

I humd at my wolf before continuing my walk towards the stage.

"Are you feeling nervous?" Carl asked as he led to one of the chairs.

"Why would I? It’s not like I am becoming the council head or sothing. I am just becoming a regular mber of the council as Theodore’s daughter," I answered, turning around in my place and facing the crowd.

"Let’s begin the acceptance ceremony before cutting the cake for my son Dylan," Uncle Jonathan said.

It was a short ceremony.

My blood was supposed to be poured into the chalice of the council hierarchy before chanting so spells and adding herbs that would make my blood evaporate. At the sa ti, the council head needed to announce as an official mber of the council.

The process wouldn’t take more than 5 minutes, and I looked at Maverick, who hadn’t moved his gaze from my face for even a second since I entered the hall.

My gaze shifted to the woman standing beside her, who had claid that a rogue like wasn’t supposed to be accepted into the pack as Luna.

"Valencia, pour your blood here," Uncle Jonathan said.

I looked at the dagger placed on a silver plate a maid held before looking at Dylan.

I pulled out the dagger that I had placed on my back under my dress, making everyone whisper.

"If I have to let my blood flow, let it be with my own dagger," I said to Uncle Jonathan, who widened his eyes.

"This..." He gulped.

I smirked.

I know these were the exact words my dad said when his ceremony as the council head was conducted.

I read those lines through the history books in the library of the council chambers.

Since these people thought I was here because of my birth, let it be the one to shine.

With a sigh, I looked at Maverick and the woman beside him, rembering the tumors I heard from the Lunas about how Alia was the chosen girl to beco Luna of the Dark Callisto pack.

Aurora didn’t like any rumor related to it, and she had urged to retort, but I didn’t want to at the mont.

I would rather make my claim before everyone else than talk and answer to everyone separately.

I placed the sharp side of the dagger on my palm before pulling it back and cutting it.

Hovering my fists over the chalice, I let my blood drip into the heirloom of the chambers before taking a deep breath.

The council head announced as the official mber of the council chambers.

"Why isn’t she healing?" One of the Lunas asked, and I looked at my hand, which was still dripping blood on the stage beside .

’Why is she still bleeding?’ I heard Aurora’s voice in my head, utterly different from the one I was used to hearing.

This voice was much more powerful, and I gulped.

’She will heal,’ I heard Aurora’s voice again, a much softer tone this ti, and I raised my brows.

What the hell was she really doing? Practicing her accent and multiple voices? What was she...

I paused when the glass breaking near us echoed, and everyone stood alert.

The alphas imdiately covered their Lunas, ready to protect them from any kind of hidden danger.

I saw that Alpha Maverick shielded Alia as she stood close to him and imdiately stuck to him, making tilt my head.

I didn’t like it.

I wouldn’t be the bigger person and say it was okay; the situation was understandable.

Clenching my fists, I looked at my wounded hand before taking the velvet cloth from the silver plate and wrapping it around my hands.

"The blood of the girl was flown and wasted like this, and we weren’t even inford or invited to her council ceremony. Wasn’t that quote atrocious of you, Jonathan?" The cold female voice resonated in the hall.

We all looked around, trying to find where it was coming from, and it wasn’t long before the three mainland witches that I had t once entered the hall.

Their aura was unmatched, and the vibes they emitted were enough to make even the strongest people wary of them.

And why not? They held the title of not soone anyone would like to truffle with if they wanted to live.

They looked directly at , and I glared at them, rembering how they said Happy was harmful to .

"What are you doing here?" I asked, stepping ahead.

The witches kept looking at for a brief second before looking at Uncle Jonathan.

"I told you not to make her bleed so much, didn’t I?" Witch Mrinalini asked, and I looked at Uncle Jonathan.

So, the witches he was talking about who gave him instructions on whether to do sothing were these three mainland witches?

The realization made even more sour towards them.

It ans they were the ones who knew about sothing yet stopped everyone from interfering and helping .

"Mainland witches," the King, David Matthews, stepped ahead to greet the mainland witches, but as if they couldn’t see him, they didn’t even bat their eyelashes towards him, let alone greet him back.

I observed their gazes carefully and noticed they were probably here to create trouble.

Not wanting to do any kind of drama on Dylan’s birthday because of myself, I sighed.

If I acted impulsively and tried to insult them, they would wreck this place in anger; that was the last thing I wanted to happen.

"Can we talk about this stuff later? I didn’t know the mainland witches would be curious about my acceptance ceremony.

I said.

The witches looked at each other before nodding.

Witch Mrinalini walked to before holding my wounded hand in hers.

She closed her eyes for a brief second, and I felt all the pain vanishing in a single second.

"Next ti sothing eventful or anything big happens with you or in your life, I want you to call us. Here, take this as the gift from the mainland witches to be able to call us whenever you need," Mrinalini said before she placed a pendant on my neck.

I raised my brows at her.

"Congratulations on not being a rogue anymore. Your mother would be proud," the witches said before they glared at Jonathan while I was too shocked to react.

The way these witches reacted when they saw for the first ti and now were completely different.

It was almost as if I was a different person in their eyes.

I shook my head, watching them leave.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief before their gaze focussed on , making self-conscious as I knew what they all must be thinking now.

"Let’s cut the cake," Uncle Jonathan said to dismiss everything and catch the crowd’s attention.

"Are you okay?" Alpha Maverick walked to once we stepped down from the stage.

I rembered the way Alia found solace in his arms, and he let her do it, but I couldn’t help but scowl at him.

I also know that I was ruining my night here and thinking about things that didn’t even matter, and the guy probably wouldn’t even know what he did wrong to piss off like this.

"I am good," I nodded back at him.

"Well, is your hand healing now? It’s not bleeding and -"

"I would like to have this in peace. Let’s enjoy it. You know I am a big foodie, and I want the largest slice of it," I said.

Maverick stopped talking, but I knew he had figured I was in a sour mood.

"Well, let know if you liked it. I will bring pastries for you," Maverick smiled, making feel a little guilty, but it’s okay.

I was allowed to be a little jealous, too.

I turned around, not before rolling my eyes.

However, to my surprise, he held my hand and pulled into his arms, my back colliding with his chest as he held close.

"You know I like it when you are jealous," He whispered into my ears, without caring about everyone around us.
