THIRD PERSON’S POV
The man on the hospital bed glared at the doctor who was about to give him anesthesia and asked him to treat him without the drug.
"Are you sure about it?" The doctor asked and he humd.
He kept looking at the ceiling while thinking about the girl he t.
Once the treatnt was done, he didn’t waste a second in standing and calling his n.
"Yes, sir," The man imdiately asked and the guy licked his bottom lip thoughtfully.
"I found her," The man said and his subordinate paused for a few seconds.
"In the coral regions? But wasn’t she rumored to be seen in the -"
"That doesn’t matter. Luckily, I was still wearing my mask. But, how she looked into my eyes, do you think she could’ve caught ? She found out it was who she saved all those months ago?" The man asked.
The subordinate didn’t say anything.
"I heard about the accident. Are you okay?" The subordinate asked instead and the man clenched his teeth.
"Hmm. The car our car collided with was the cab she was traveling in. She got brutally hurt. Probably lost a lot of blood," The man said before he asked the receptionist which ward he was taken to.
He looked at the girl through the peep glass on the door.
She was lying on the hospital bed with a calm expression on her face, probably sedated with the drugs.
She looked tired though.
Without waiting for any answer from anyone, he entered the room and walked to her side.
She had a bruise on her forehead, hand, along her abdon.
"What a nuisance. Why did you turn into a rogue?" The man asked no one in particular before lifting the locket in her neck.
He was about to pull out the chain, but then thought against it, sitting beside her.
Zzzzzz
The sound of her phone vibrating disturbed his desk thoughts and he looked at the caller ID.
"Hello?" He answered.
Alpha Maverick, who was worried about her because he received a call from Dylan to ask him how long it took for her to reach there, felt a nerve in his forehead ticking when he heard a male’s voice from the other side.
"Who are you? This is Valencia’s phone. Why are you picking it up?" Maverick asked, his alpha’s dominance taking over, which the man could feel from the phone because of his deepening voice.
The man paused and looked at the girl before standing from his seat and brushing his knuckles on her cheeks.
"Such soft skin she has," The man whispered and Maverick’s blood imdiately boiled at the words.
"Where the fuck are you?! If anything happened to her, I swear I will cut you into pieces before feeding it to the dogs," Maverick said before he nodded at Dylan who imdiately looked at the location detector application that he had asked Valencia to download on her phone last night.
As soon as Dylan noticed the location was near a hospital, he knew it was nothing good.
Maverick didn’t waste a second and ended the call before rushing out of the apartnt.
Since he took a different route with the Lycans, he did not hear anything about the accident that the public was talking about even now because of how horrific it was.
The man looked at the private number and shrugged before placing the phone down again and looking at the girl.
"Why are our etings so unfortunate?" He asked before he bent and placed his masked lips on her forehead.
He looked at the scarf he carried with him all the ti no matter where he went from that day onwards with a smile.
After sitting with her for a while, telling her how hard he tried to look for her and how he wasn’t going to give her grandmother’s scarf back to her, he stood from his place.
"We will et again. And when we et, you can get this scarf back," He said.
He dialed his number through her phone after unlocking it and once he got her number, he deleted the records before leaving the room.
He went to the reception and paid for her treatnt before leaving the hospital.
As he walked towards the parking lot where his team was already there to pick him up, he nearly missed eting Alpha Maverick, who rushed to the hospital to see where she was.
However, it didn’t an he didn’t feel the vibes around him.
"An alpha indeed," The man scoffed at himself.
So he would have to fight an alpha for her attention now?
"Sir, is sothing wrong? Are you okay?" The subordinate leader who ca to pick him up and heard about his accident asked and the man shook his head.
"About the weapons that I asked you guys to prepare and concentrate on, I guess, we will have to increase the labor and design format. We have a bigger target to capture and attack now," The man said, looking at the scarf in his hand.
The subordinate, who knew the story behind the scarf that his boss carried around and stared at it most of the ti, gazed at the new blood stain on the handkerchief with his lips pressed into a thin line.
"Sir, do you want to ask soone to clean this for you? I will ask them to treat it with utmost sincerity," The subordinate said as he looked at his boss through the rearview mirror.
"Be careful with your words. Your next words are going to decide how your jaws will work for the rest of your life. This is one of my most prized and beautiful possessions. Do you think I would let anyone touch it?" The man asked and the subordinate imdiately gulped before looking ahead.
"I am sorry, sir. Please pardon my insolence," He quickly uttered, knowing all too well his boss wasn’t joking at all when it ca to his things.
The man looked outside the window, a rare smile appearing on his face now that he had finally t the girl whose heart was of gold, the kind of golden heart he needed in life.
