VALENCIA’S POV
"Are you going to turn in?" I finally asked after so ti as he took further inside the mall.
The Lycan, Asher, looked at as if contemplating what he wanted to do with and if I was worth the trouble.
"For now, I want to have my breakfast in peace. Want to join?" He asked and I nodded without a second thought.
"Are you paying?" I asked instinctively before realizing my mistake.
Clearing my throat, I shook my head to tell him that wasn’t what I ant.
"I an, I can pay for our als," I said.
He looked at as if he was studying slowly before nodding his head.
I scowled at his back.
The least he could do was deny it. He just earned so much money, couldn’t he eat with his own money?
Pouting dejectedly, I followed him inside the cafe as we took one of the empty booths.
"The coffee here is really nice," He said and I humd.
"Place your order," He said and I did.
I ordered a total of four dishes from the nu along with cold coffee and he raised his brows at .
I know what he must be thinking. These looks were now normal for . They can’t bla for having a big appetite. All this cunning planning, plotting, and turning into different feline animals really takes a lot of energy. And I need a lot of food for that, tasty food.
"Well, I am paying, so..." I let the sentence hang so he would stop judging .
He humd before supporting his head on his palm as he gazed at .
"Tell about yourself. And no, I won’t turn you in," He said.
’Should I do it?’ I asked Aurora who shrugged her shoulders.
’Well, you can do it. It’s not like he can harm us in a place full of humans, and then, you will have to open up to one of them sooner or later since that’s exactly what you are here for,’ Aurora said and I humd before looking at the waiter who placed our order on the table one by one.
"I am here for answers," I said, taking a deep breath.
Asher quirked his brows.
From what I judged last evening, I had noticed that Asher was the least bothered and coldest type of person.
So I wasn’t exactly sure what kind of risk I was putting myself into.
But here it was.
"What kind of answers?" He asked, clearly intrigued.
"Is it..." I took a deep breath.
There was no way to ask my question without exposing myself to him.
I can’t even use the infamous way of ’asking for a friend’ because as a Lycan his senses were much more developed than mine and he would be able to know everything about within minutes if he contacted the council and told them I was trespassing without a permit.
"Since I turned fourteen, I couldn’t change into wolf form. My family abandoned , tortured for being worthless, and my alpha mate rejected for my sister who was a powerful beta. I left the pack and turned into a rogue. However, what no one knew was that I transford, not into the wolf though. It’s exactly what I want to know about," I whispered, nipping at my nails.
I didn’t dare to look up at him. Seeing pity in soone’s eyes for myself was the last thing I wanted to happen.
I bit my lips before sighing.
"Valencia Brooklyn," The man in front of , said suddenly.
I felt my pupils dilate. To say I was surprised would be an understatent.
"Am I that famous?" I asked him flabbergasted and his lips twitched slightly.
I coughed loudly to hide my embarrassnt. Well, this wasn’t exactly sothing to be proud of.
Pressing my lips into a thin line, I looked around before stuffing my mouth with food to calm my anxiousness.
"Just because we live in seclusion doesn’t an we don’t know what’s happening in the werewolf world. It was a hot topic among the council when you were rejected," Asher said.
He paused and took a sip of his drink before looking out of the window.
"They had turned to us and asked us for opinions if they could take a rogue under them without making her a council mber because she didn’t want to belong anywhere. That’s exactly how this na stuck with us," He turned his head and looked at again, making hum in understanding.
Of course, why would I be famous for anything new? I bet they don’t know I was the infamous V because if they had, they would’ve surely hated for what I do most of the ti and annoyed the alphas.
"Ohh," I said, unsure of what else I could say in this situation.
"You indeed transford that night, but you didn’t transform into your wolf. You transford into sothing different. Just like your curse was supposed to be," The Lycan said.
I paused in my actions and placed the fork back on the plate.
What did he say? My curse? What kind of curse?
’You are a curse to . If I had known I would’ve killed you the mont I took you in my hands,’
’Die, you bitch! You bad on, cursed object!’
’Why did the moon goddess curse with a daughter like you?’
All those words said to by my family started to circulate in my head, and I took a deep breath before taking a sip of my coffee with trembling hands.
’Valencia,’ Aurora looked at concerned, and I smiled at her.
’It’s nothing I haven’t heard before,’ I said to her before looking at the Lycan.
"So I am indeed cursed?" I asked and Asher looked at for a few seconds.
He humd before taking another sip of his drink.
"With bigger destiny cos bigger responsibilities. You are the chosen one, aren’t you?" He asked , and I was out to ask him what he ant by the chosen one when out of the blue, the glass in my hand burst and I looked at it in surprise.
Soone shot at it.
"What are you doing?! Get down!" Asher shouted at , and I imdiately got down from the chair, hiding under the table with him as the sounds of bullets being fired echoed around that was followed by the sound of glass shattering all around.
Asher imdiately held my hand and looked at the glass that pierced my palm.
He pulled out the glass shred and wrapped his handkerchief around it.
"Are we under attack? What’s happening?" I asked, unsure that rogues were capable of attacking in a place full of humans.
As if Asher knew what I was thinking about, he imdiately shook his head.
"It’s not the rogues. This is a gang fight of humans. So gangs have been too proactive here and recently one of the gang killed the notorious gang leader’s elder brother. We have to be out of here as soon as possible," Asher said.
Well, no shit Sherlock.
He pulled out of the back door and we saw three n standing there firing at soone.
"Hey!" One of the n saw us, and I widened my eyes when Asher pulled out a gun from his pocket.
Was he going to hurt humans? I looked at him flabbergasted, while he looked at and rolled his eyes.
"Don’t tell you wouldn’t have done that," He said before shooting the hands of the n who were holding guns.

"Let’s run," He held my hand and started running in the other direction.
"Move your legs!" He shouted at and I couldn’t help but growl in anger.
"Well, I am not a Lycan!" I said and he looked back at as if daring to say that word aloud.
"Well, you didn’t have a problem running away last night," He said.
I scoffed. My premonition was right. He knew it was all along.
"Well, if you could allow to turn here and -" I couldn’t finish when we ended up in an alley.
And behind us 8 n stood, looking at us with lecherous eyes.
"You hurt our mbers. You are definitely from the opposite team," the man said and I shook my head.
"Hey, I don’t know anything about what you are talking about. I don’t even belong here. You can see my passport. I entered the city today itself. He is the one who did it," I said and Asher looked at as if in disbelief that I would throw him under the bus like this.
"Well, whether you did it or not, the fact that you are with him is going to cost you your life," The man said and I glared at Asher.
Yes. I didn’t care if he was the Lycan here or if he was more powerful than . If he was soone who was putting my life in danger, he was worth getting angry at.
"It looks like fighting is the only option left," I said and he rolled his eyes.
"That was the only option from the beginning. You didn’t have to show your colors to for that," he said and I grinned.
