ALPHA MAVERICK’S POV

"Sir, are you really alright?" Shadow asked for the tenth ti as he looked at my dark face and I rolled my eyes at him.

"If you asked this question one more ti, I am going to strangle you, for sure," I said and he imdiately nodded his head, probably getting the ssage.

After the incident with the Hazel Moon pack, all the alphas left the engagent party as the event was canceled.

Everyone tried their best to find out what could be the reason behind the sudden fire, but to no avail did anyone find anything and with the promise to aid the pack with the investigation, the council assured everyone that they would get to the root of it.

They indeed said those words, but for so reason, the look on Jonathan’s face wasn’t too promising.

There was just sothing about his expression that made feel like he was kind of happy that sothing like this happened in the first place.

It didn’t make any sense and I was probably thinking too much into things but when I saw Dylan had a similar expression, I knew sothing was wrong with the pack and they probably ssed with soone close to the council.

Then again, with the reputation that Alpha Tyler had about rejecting his own mate to marry a stronger wolf, no wonder people didn’t like him much.

I sighed and looked out of the window, thinking about everything that happened.

It was as if one mont I was talking to the woman I liked, and the next mont the entire venue started to burn and crumble.

"You don’t understand, Dylan. She is nowhere. Yes, I know. It was my responsibility. Please rather than shouting at , can you tell where she must’ve gone? With the rogue head lurking around to look for her, this is not the ti when we can afford to lose her," Carl said.

I saw him looking around before he finally found what looked like a folded paper under her pillow.

Carl stood near the door, not daring to co inside as I glared at him.

Dylan read the letter and massaged his forehead.

"What the hell did you say to her?" Dylan looked at Carl, and I couldn’t help but snatch the letter from his hand.

’Dear Dylan,

For so reason, I know you would be the only one who would be able to find this letter. I know you will be coming to after Alpha Tyler’s engagent. Uncle Jonathan must’ve already told you that I denied the mission.
