I opened the file that the prince’s secretary gave . I read the first few lines that contained the questions regarding what I was doing with the mission and what I had done so far.

I rolled my eyes at the file before closing it and throwing it on the table again.

Prince Ethan looked at with raised brows, probably not expecting this kind of behavior from soone like , but he was surely getting on my nerves.

"Just ask the questions straightaway. Do you need to act so flamboyant with it when you know what you are doing is kind of illegal? You need records of it too?" I asked.

Yes. I was disgusted with the mission to so point. If it had been any other alpha, I might not have felt that weird or cared about what they wanted or how it would affect the alpha or his pack.

What did he call himself? My master? Since when did I allow soone to be my master?

I dialed Jonathan’s number straightforwardly, not wanting to deal with Dylan either.

"What is it, sweetheart?" The council head asked as soon as he picked up the call.

"The mission with the spying on the Dark Callisto pack, please send another spy to do it. I am out of this mission," I said and stood from my place.

I was about to end the call when the council head asked what was going on and I looked dead in the prince’s eyes.

"You out of all the people should know I despise it when soone calls themselves my master. I get paid for my hard work and my skills. Not because I am soone’s pet. You better choose the mission for carefully," I said before ending the call.

Turning around I was about to leave the room when the guards suddenly stopped and I pulled out my daggers instinctively, ready to fight.

"I am sorry," I heard the familiar voice say and I froze in my place.

"Hmm?" I asked, unsure if he heard him right.

Did he just... I looked at the powerful man, who had a gentle smile on his face, and looked at him warily.

There was no way he was giving up so quickly. What was going on inside his head?

"I am sorry for acting that way. Please sit," He said. Not seeing anything weird with this aura or gaze, I say back before looking at him.

"You know you are the first person who dared to talk to like this," The prince said and I looked at him, alarms going off in my head.

No. Please don’t let him think that just because I talked back to him, I am the perfect girl to calm his tantrum and take his shit. I have had this scenario a lot of tis and I didn’t want a repeat of it with a prince for sure.

"What are the chances that I added the kind of poison that will get into your system and eat you from inside slowly and slowly? Sothing that you won’t be able to diagnose until the damage is done beyond repair? Sothing that will give enough ti to run away too?" I asked.

The prince chuckled at my words before he dismissed the soldiers before they could complete their testing practice.

I took the cutlery in my hand and was about to place so of the food on my plate when my phone vibrated.

Seeing it was Carl’s call, I knew that he was about to ask what went wrong because the council head might have already inford him about my decision.

I excused myself, picking up the call, not moving from my seat though.

The aroma of the food was too much for to ignore and I took a spoonful of pasta in my mouth.

"Hello," I said, ready to hear a series of scolding.

"Alexis, tell what you did," He asked, and I furrowed my brows.

Was he asking about what I did with the mission?

"Well, he was being disrespectful, so I was left with no choice but-" I said, my gaze eting with the Prince as I took another spoonful of pasta and stuffed it in my mouth.

I could hear Carl taking a deep breath.

"And just because he was being disrespectful, you went ahead and asked your people to burn the place? There were alphas and betas in there," Carl asked, and I choked on my food before furrowing my brows.

What the hell was he asking ? When did I ask soone to burn sothing or -

"What happened?" I asked, wiping my lips and Carl gulped.
