Chapter 645: 648. Instant

With Sean’s noble and tragic words, the surrounding advisors and commanders all nodded as if this deeply resonated with them.

They seed to be the most fervent patriots.

But amidst this atmosphere deed sacred, one question was intentionally or unintentionally ignored.

These honest and loyal officers and advisors present, even during a counter-charge, would likely remain at the rear, wouldn’t they?

And after a possible defeat, they would probably be among the first to withdraw from the battlefield, right?

As for those ordinary soldiers fighting on the front lines... May the Great Sun Wheel redeem their heroic souls!

no Kuhorn knelt mournfully on the woodland ground.

In his ear was the sound of those once respectful, eager, and clever young officers discussing the battle situation in a tent.

Senior officers don’t want to implicate themselves in the army’s defeat, so they might let tens of thousands of Niflgaard’s regular troops charge at the enemy in an unorganized manner!

Sean spoke of ’bearing all consequences.’

But what consequences could he possibly face?

The slave trader association behind him is the most vicious batch, even within the cannibalistic rchant association.

He once conspired to marry the vice president’s daughter by framing her original husband—an ambitious treasury secretary.

Who ultimately lost his head.

If Sean fails, those dissatisfied mbers who long resented his resource hoarding in the slave trader association will eat him alive!

no Kuhorn sees this clearly, but he is powerless.

Because he cannot overco their greed.

After all, the stakes are laid out plainly on the table.

Breaking through and retreating signifies complete failure of the battle, aning these senior officers will lose their past status and resources.

But if they gamble and bet the lives of fifty thousand Niflgaard regular troops... what if they win?

Even if they lose, they won’t die, right?

When the cost doesn’t touch the bottom line but the reward is extraordinary, who could suppress their gambling instinct?

At least among this group, none.

So no Kuhorn can only watch helplessly as this group of senior officers leads fifty thousand Niflgaard soldiers to death.

And he can change nothing.

Until...

"Your madness truly broadens my horizons."

Amidst the dead winter woods, a voice both admiring and chilling erged from behind the shadowy branches.

In an instant, the lively and vibrant discussions of the young senior officers seed doused with cold water.

Everything froze in that mont, including the expressions on the faces of these senior officers.

Deep within the forest, a figure towering beyond the ordinary walked out from behind the dead branches.

The tough sharp twigs parted before him like air, with a faint tallic scraping ’sizzle’ against his armor.

This sound scratched everyone’s heart.

But unlike the alluring whispers of club hostesses... this sound nearly froze the blood in one’s veins!

In this instant, the pupils of those senior officers dilated uncontrollably, their breathing quickened, and their facial muscles trembled.

Then...

"Clang!!!"

A unique sound, unforgettable and daring to forget, like a cathedral bell!

A dark, ominous greatsword flew horizontally a ter above the ground from the dead twig woods!

Rising winds tossed a layer of forest detritus from the ground!

The heavy greatsword flashed with dark light, then red blood was drawn up into the air, before falling back to the ground.

"Ah... ah!!!"

The delayed cries of agony ca from those who were now parted from half of their bodies.

In this dead forest, it was like the dying cries of crows.

Those senior officers who had just impeached their marshal’s command, the ones hoping to lead fifty thousand into a desperate charge, were now reduced to almost nothing.

The [Turbulent] greatsword finally sliced several limbs before spinning into the trunk of a sturdy tree, wedged there.

Blood and flesh slurry dripped down its dark blade.

A ’snik’ sound ca, from the direction the greatsword had flown.

A giant figure, beyond ordinary size, surged with unparalleled pressure.

Even a heavily armored knight’s lance charge wouldn’t appear more terrifying than Lann now!

He didn’t even draw his sword; he simply stomped his boot, plated with tal armor, onto a survivor’s chest.

The opponent’s solid, black glazed armor was crushed like a war hamr’s blow, denting imdiately.

An armored brute flew backward, hitting a tree trunk, causing its branches to sway with a ’swish-swish’ sound.

Thick, aty blood gushed uncontrollably from his mouth.

And the bold Sir Sean, who monts ago was like a war hero about to turn the tide.

Without even reacting, was pressed on the helt by Lann’s large hand.

Then Lann twisted his helt backward...

A crisp ’crack,’ leaving a limp body sprawled on the ground.

In less than two seconds, the command echelon withdrawn from the original command post, leaving only no Kuhorn kneeling on the ground... annihilated.

All the fervor and scheming vanished with the body’s death.

no Kuhorn stared blankly at the dismbered limbs and corpses before him.

Having experienced too many changes in a short period, his seasoned battlefield mindset struggled to process.

He watched as Lann approached the sword lodged in the tree trunk, and single-handedly withdrew the horrifying greatsword.

His other hand wiped the blade, ’sizzle,’ the armored tal on his glove scraping against the sword’s tal.

Clearing the blood, flesh slurry, and fat from the sword.

"How... did you find us?"

no Kuhorn, unsure of his sanity now, wondered how he dared to ask such a question.

But surprisingly, the Demon Hunter answered him.

"It wasn’t difficult to deduce your retreat direction, after all, I calculated the few options you might have."

"Once you left, I headed this direction. And earlier, you let that pretty capable Female Warlock send one last ssage."
