Chapter 32: Chapter 32 You Suspect the Ji Family?

Ji Chao and Ji Ze weren’t the only ones poisoned,
but their conditions were the most serious.
“President Ji, the kindergarten’s food is freshly picked and transported daily, and the cafeteria is monitored. We will fully cooperate with the police investigation.”
The kindergarten catered to children from prestigious families, and its food managent was strictly regulated; the incident baffled not just the parents but also the principal.
Panic was rampant!

Lu Xining, in her ho clothes and bare-faced from rushing, still wore the slippers from her house.
She quietly sat on the cold bench in the hallway, watching the operation room doors.
After a long wait, the lights in the operating room finally went out.
Ji Chao and Ji Ze were wheeled out by the nurses, their faces deathly pale and still unconscious.
She imdiately followed behind.
As Liu Xixi tried to approach the children, Lu Xining stopped her.
She frowned and warned, “Liu Xixi, your perfu is too strong; it could irritate their nostrils and hinder their rest.”
The children, having just co from surgery, were especially fragile and needed a non-irritating environnt to rest properly.
Liu Xixi was doused in a strong rose perfu—it was as if she had marinated herself in it. If the scent was overwhelming to an adult, it would be even more so to children.
Ji Muye halted in his tracks, sniffed, and turned to Liu Xixi at the door, “Xixi, don’t stay here.”
Unwilling to leave, Liu Xixi interjected, “Aye…”
She had applied full makeup in the morning and, upon hearing about Ji Chao and Ji Ze, hurried over in her limited-edition high heels.
Biting back tears, Liu Xixi cried, “I’m worried about the kids. I’ve been caring for them like my own for years; how can I leave now that this has happened?”
She glanced tearfully at Lu Xining and continued plaintively, “Miss Lu is their mother and feels threatened seeing how the kids like —I can understand that—but now that the kids are hospitalized, more help is better. Aye, please don’t send away.”
After Ji Muye glanced at Lu Xining, who had already entered the ward, he politely said to Liu Xixi, “We appreciate your concern. Why don’t you wait in the café downstairs? I’ll have soone contact you when the kids wake up.”
With red eyes, Liu Xixi nodded, and before leaving, she shot Lu Xining a fierce glare, eting her gaze head-on.
Lu Xining’s expression seed to pierce through the cause of the food poisoning, her sharp, icy stare filling Liu Xixi with a deep unease.
As soon as she entered the elevator, she contacted soone.
“Uncle Scar, this incident won’t trace back to us, will it?”
The firmness in his voice eased her worries.
In the ward.
Lu Xining touched the child’s pale, bloodless cheeks, her fingers resting on the child’s pulse. After a series of checks, she found sothing wrong, and her beautiful face suddenly darkened.
This isn’t ordinary food poisoning!
She glanced back at Ji Muye; the man’s concern for the child in his eyes was genuine. Lu Xining hesitated whether to tell him.
Forget it, she would initiate the investigation herself.
If it’s related to Liu Xixi again, this man might protect her.
She sent a ssage to Haozi, telling him to intercept the kindergarten’s surveillance footage for the week and to inform her imdiately if he spotted anything suspicious.
Additionally, she asked him to keep watch on Liu Xixi and the Liu Family.
Her intuition told her that Liu Xixi was certainly not innocent.
The other party imdiately agreed.
Lu Xining and Ji Muye each stayed by a child’s bedside, the hospital room silent and still, neither of them speaking a word.
As the effects of the anesthesia wore off, the two children slowly woke up.
Ji Chao blinked, confused, “Mommy, Mommy.”
Lu Xining’s eyes reddened, “Yes, Xiao Chao, Mommy is here.”
Ji Ze also awoke, his voice weak, “Daddy, Daddy where…”
Ji Muye touched the child’s head, “Daddy is here.”
They stayed in the hospital with the children for two days.
Other children were discharged, but Ji Chao and Ji Ze’s conditions didn’t improve.
Lu Xining found Ji Muye, “We need to talk.”
She had asked the doctor, and the food consud by Ji Chao and Ji Ze had traces of substances that weren’t found in the other children’s als.
“They aren’t suffering from food poisoning, but from drug poisoning.”
“This incident at the kindergarten might just be a distraction, what you really need to investigate is the als prepared by the Ji Family for the children.”
A storm flickered in Ji Muye’s eyes, “You suspect there’s a mole in the Ji Family?”
Lu Xining nodded, her face serious.
“The poison in their systems isn’t sothing that happened today; it’s chronic poisoning, at least five days old, only soone close could accomplish this.”
“This week I haven’t brought the children ho for als, so the possibility of them being poisoned at my house is ruled out, that leaves the Ji Family and the kindergarten.”
She asked Ji Muye to extend his hand; though puzzled, he did so. Lu Xining checked his pulse, finding no signs of poisoning.
Lu Xining withdrew her hand and continued, “You and the children eat breakfast and dinner together, but you’re not poisoned.”
“The kindergarten’s lunch, all the children eat together, but the other children were discharged in one or two days, while Ji Chao and Ji Ze could not be.”
By this point, Ji Muye understood.
The only difference in their diet compared to his was the glass of milk they drank every morning and evening.
Ji Muye acknowledged her findings with a muted response and left the hospital room with a stern face.
He made arrangents for a broader investigation, while Lu Xining directed her focus specifically towards Liu Xixi.
After all, a targeted investigation always moves faster than a broad one.
Upon receiving an email from Haozi, Lu Xining skimd through the contents, her eyes revealing a chilling intent; indeed, it was Liu Xixi who was behind it.
When Ji Muye returned, he was t with Lu Xining’s icy gaze.
She didn’t send him the email, wanting to see his own findings and reaction, hoping it wouldn’t dishearten the children.
“Let Xiao Chao and Xiao Ze co with .”
Ji Muye disagreed, his voice low, “Their current condition isn’t suitable for leaving the hospital.”
Lu Xining stood up looking at him, “I can save them.”
She softly kissed each child’s cheeks, her eyes filled with unstoppable heartache.
“The poison will progressively corrode their organs, and over ti, they will die from organ failure.”
