"Good afternoon, Commander. I have an update, a lot of the civilians have been complaining about the lockdown, a few have disregarded it and stepped out."
"Seriously? I an, I did expect so pushback, but not this soon. It’s only been two days," Sighed Jules in exasperation.
It was the 24th of October, 1919, two days since the Aeroraptor Queen’s last attack. Even though it had only targeted Knights so far, Lyra had decided to enforce a nationwide lockdown for the safety of the citizens, until the last remaining Monster Queen was eliminated.
The Knights had further tightened their defenses, and while Tacitus had failed to create a stronger barrier, he’d created a powerful detection barrier that triggers when Monsters co into contact with it, so that the Knights could be alerted faster the next ti the Aeroraptor Queen showed up.
"What should we do, Commander? I don’t think we should penalize them too harshly, but if we’re too lenient, more people are bound to follow their lead."
"Yeah, we need to deter them from doing so. For now, give the offenders a warning, tell them we’ll have no choice but to lock them in prison if they break lockdown again," Responded Jules.
"Understood, Commander, I’ll-...," Began the Knight, before trailing off as a Mana Crystal on Jules’s desk suddenly began glowing, her eyes widening in alarm.
"A Monster has co into contact with the detection barrier around the Capital! It could be the Aeroraptor Queen, this may be our chance! We need to-...!" She started to say with a look of urgency on her face, before she was cut off as a Teleporter suddenly appeared in her office.
"P-Pardon the intrusion, Commander, but we’ve got a serious problem! There’s a massive flock of Aeroraptors attacking the barrier, it’s only a matter of ti before they break through! There must be at least a couple hundred of them!"
"What?"
anwhile, in Sapphire City...
"Alright, I have sent my twelve hundred children to the six biggest human habitats besides this place, in groups of two hundred. I hope there are so strong humans in this place," Remarked the Aeroraptor Queen, before rapidly swooping down and slamming its claws against the barrier with imnse force, bursting through it and diving into the city.
Its gaze darted about before it shot towards a pair of patrolling Knights, the two of them turning around in alarm as it closed in on them, but they wete too slow to react.
The Monster Queen drove its claws through their throats, fatally wounding them before ripping their heads off with its jaws, blood spraying out as it crunched their severed heads before devouring the rest of their bodies.
It then zipped around the city, targeting every Knight it ca across, killing and eating them in no ti, getting stronger and stronger with each Knight it devoured.
In addition to the Fire, Lightning, Water and Healing Magic it had already gained, it now also had Light and Ice Magic, along with boosts to its Lightning and Healing Magic.
As it then ca across another pair of Knights, one of them noticed and pushed the other out of the way, before letting out an agonized wheeze as the Monster Queen plunged its claws into his stomach, tearing through his skin and flesh before bursting out his back.
It ripped his throat out with its jaws, before dropping the body and turning its attention to other Knight, who was trembling in fear.
"You are all so weak. Where are the stronger humans?" Inquired the Monster Queens as it narrowed its eyes at the Knight, before rushing towards her.
Suddenly, it ca to an abrupt halt and flew back as a powerful bolt of lightning ca shooting towards it, evading the attack before turning its gaze in the direction the lightning had co from, to see Rione standing there with his hamr pointed forward, a Teleporter beside him.
"You want a stronger human, you’ve got one," He remarked, before addressing the Teleporter and nodding at the other Knight, "Get her to the outpost, quickly. And then head to the Capital and let the Commander know, I’ll keep this thing occupied for as long as possible."
"Y-Yes, Captain, understood."
As the Teleporter grabbed the other Knight and teleported away, Rione swung his hamr across and unleashed an intense, dancing streak of lightning towards the Aeroraptor Queen, who swiftly flew up to evade the attack, before unleashing a roaring blast of flas towards Rione.
Rione swiftly swung his hamr across, striking the blast and knocking it away, before his eyes widened in alarm as the Monster Queen shot forward and closed in on him in the blink of an eye, Rione frantically raised his hamr up defensively, a sharp clang ringing out as the Monster’s claws collided against the handle of his hamr, before he grimaced as its claws slashed across the top of his left shoulder.
He quickly spun around as blood stread down from his shoulder, firing out a blast of lightning from his mouth, before grimacing as the Aeroraptor Queen snapped open its jaws and fired out a burst of water, a cloud of steam erupting as the attacks collided.
Rione then quickly turned his gaze up as the Monster zipped up into the air, locking onto it as he waited for it to attack, before his eyes were suddenly forced shut as a blinding flash of light erupted above him, as the Monster Queen combined its Lightning and Light Magic to trigger an intense flash.
As quickly as he could, Rione desperately channeled lightning into the head of his hamr before swinging it down with all his strength, triggering a devastatingly powerful electric shockwave as his hamr slamd against the ground, a stinging pain bursting out across his his forehead as the Monster’s claws began to slice across the skin on his forehead before it got blown away by the electric shockwave.
Rione strained to open his eyes back up, wiping his sleeve across his left eye as a trail of blood trickled into it, half his line of sight turning red.
"I-I see, so you really do get stronger when you eat people," He remarked as a bead of sweat ran down the side of his face.
"Indeed. Your Magic is quite powerful, I believe it is called Lightning Magic, yes? Mine is rather weak," Responded the Monster, generating sparks around its claws before adding, "I wonder, how much stronger will it beco...after I eat you?"
It then swooped down towards him with imnse speed, it fired out a razor sharp ice sharp propelled by a burst of water, Rione barely managing to deflect it with his hamr before leaping out of the way as the Monster Queen closed in on him, a long cut appearing across the side of his right arm as the hooked claw on its left foot pierced his skin and dragged down, shredding a ribbon of skin before unleashing a fierce blast of flas at him from its mouth.
Rione just barely managed to disperse the flas with a swift swing of his hamr, before letting out a sharp wheeze of agony as the Monster shot forward and slamd its foot against the middle of his stomach, sending him hurtling back through the air with imnse speed.
His back collided against the side of a building with an intense, jarring impact, cracks spreading out across the wall behind him as he coughed out blood, more blood streaming out of his stomach as the Monster’s claws had pierced in before knocking him back.
"H-How the hell is it this strong...?"
"You are strong for a human, but you are still weak. But fear now. Once I consu you, you will beco a part of , you will make stronger," Stated the Aeroraptor Queen, as it approached him with a ravenous gleam in its eyes.
"My, well, isn’t that comforting?" Muttered Rione, as he subtly slipped his left hand into his pocket.
"Strange, I do not sense any fear. No matter," Remarked the Monster, before raising its claws.
Suddenly, its eyes widened in surprise as Rione sprang up and swung his hamr up with all his strength, slamming it against the left side of Monster’s face with imnse force, knocking it a few ters across to its right, a couple of its fangs falling off and bouncing off the ground.
Rione backed away and got so distance, taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly to compose himself.
"Good thing I had a Healing Spell on , I’d be dead otherwise..."
He then flinched as the Aeroraptor let out a deep growl as it got back up and turned its gaze towards him, a cold, murderous glare in its eyes, a trickle of blood running down the corner of its mouth.
"You will pay for that, HUMAN...," It snarled quietly and seethingly, its gaze dripping with bloodlust, Rione’s blood running cold as he t its gaze...
