"Okay, good, looks like the pack has been sufficiently whittled down now, it’s ti for to make my move. Quila, stay out of sight and back up the others, I’m counting on you," Instructed Rione, cracking his knuckles before bringing his hamr out of his Storage Ring.
"Understood, Captain, I won’t let you down," Nodded Quila, bringing out her own Relic Armant, the bow Hawkeye, before backing away into the bushes as she ford an ice arrow.
Rione’s team were facing a large pack of Minotaurs, their numbers greater than the Knights had anticipated. They were large, humanoid Monsters with bull-like heads.
While the original plan had been for Rione to conserve his energy and let the others deal with the pack, they had to adjust the plan since the number of Minotaurs was too much to handle without Rione’s assistance.
So, he’d hung back with Quila to support the rest of the team with ranged attacks, steadily cutting down the Monsters’ numbers, the pack now reduced to about a couple dozen, not enough to keep their Queen protected.
"Now, [Lightning Armor]," Chanted Rione, light in erupting around him and wrapping around his entire body as he shot forward rapidly, zipping past the Minotaurs while the other Knights kept them busy, a barrage of ice arrows shooting out of the bushes towards the Monsters as Rione made a beeline for the Queen.
It was larger than the other Minotaurs, it had three crooked horns over the middle of its head in addition to the two horns on either side of its head, its lower body had four hooved legs, and its left arm had a large, drill-like bone spike instead of a hand.
It roared threateningly as Rione closed in on it, before driving its left arm down towards his head. He swiftly whipped his hamr across, a sharp clang ringing out as the head of the hamr struck the side of the large bone spike at the end of the Monster Queen’s arm and deflecting it away.
He then quickly raised the handle of his hamr up defensively as the Monster drove its right fist towards him, slamming against the middle of his handle with a crushing impact.
Rione grimaced as the force jarred his arms, his feet skidding back across the dirt before he sprang off to his left as the Monster leapt towards him and stomped on the ground, cracks spreading out across the dirt as Rione narrowly evaded the attack before thrusting his hamr in the Monster’s direction and firing out a powerful bolt of lightning.
The Monster Queen let out a roar of pain as the bolt struck the right side of its head, sending it stumbling across to the left as the fur and skin around the spot the attack had struck sizzled, a furious snarl ringing out as the Monster slamd one of its feet against a rock, launching it towards Rione, who deflected the rock away with a swift swing of his hamr.
The Monster snarled before picking up a larger rock and flinging it at him with imnse force, Rione drove his hamr forward as it closed in on him, striking the middle of the rock and shattering it to pieces upon impact.
He then quickly sidestepped across as the Monster sprang at him and drove the bone spike on its left arm towards him, the spike plunging into the ground as Rione evaded it, before swinging his hamr up and slamming it against the bottom of the Monster Queen’s jaw, its head jerking up upon impact as it stumbled back with a dazed look on its face, before he fired out a lightning bolt aid at its stomach, its body sharply stiffening up as the attack electrocuted it.
Rione shot towards it, getting low and whipping his hamr across as he closed in, slamming it against the side of one of the Monster’s front legs, a sharp crunch ringing out as he crushed its knee, before he quickly leapt away as it swung its left arm across, grimacing slightly as the tip of the bone spike grazed the top of his right shoulder.
"It’s definitely as powerful as a Critical Level, but it’s body is actually working against it. Those mutations make its movents a bit awkward and unbalanced, it’s got plenty of openings to exploit...that said, it’s also quite durable, I’ll have to land several hits to finish it off. But now that I’ve broken one of its legs, it’s going to be a lot less mobile than it was before, it’s ti to end this," Surmised Rione, before blasting the Monster with a fierce barrage of lightning bolts, roars of pain ringing out as the Monster’s body seized up from the electrocution, trembling as Rione then locked on and took aim, chanting, "[Lightning Strike]!"
A devastating bolt of lightning erupted out of the head of his hamr, shooting through the air with imnse speed and striking the Monster’s right side, a violent shudder of pain running across its body upon impact, as Rione shot forward at full speed and leapt forward with his hamr drawn back.
He tightened his grip on the handle, gritting his teeth as he mustered all his strength and swung the hamr forward all full power, slamming it against the right side of the Monster Queen’s face with a devastating impact, a loud crunch echoing out as the mutated Monster’s head snapped across to the left, its neck broken.
Its arms slumped to its sides as it fell over and hit the ground with a thud, its body spasming as blood pouring out of its mouth, several teeth falling out as its blood seeped into the dirt.
"Hm, hard to believe such a powerful Monster ca from a Mid Level species, these mutations are no joke. I hope the others are alright."
anwhile...
"Too slow," Remarked Fyre, ducking under the swing of the fist of the Monster Queen he was fighting before spinning his spear with a sharp flick of his wrist, a roar of pain ringing out as he sliced through its right bicep, blood pouring out before he got so distance.
He was facing a Sasquatch Monster Queen, an ape-like Mid Level Monster species with white fur. The only visible mutation this particular Monster Queen had was a Unicorn-like horn on the middle of its head, but otherwise resembled normal Sasquatches.
However, it was much faster and stronger than others of its kind, on par with an average Critical Level Monster.
But against a Captain of the Knight Order, it wasn’t too much of a threat. While it had a lot more brute strength that Fyre did, it was a fair bit slower than he was, and he was taking full advantage of that disparity.
The Monster Queen clutched its injured bicep in pain, growling at him before racing away as he swung his spear across and unleashed a rapid slashing wave of flas, before swiftly chasing after the Monster.
As he steadily closed the gap, it stopped running away and turned around, raising its arms and balling its fists together, wincing as the motion aggravated the deep cut across its right bicep, before gritting its teeth and swinging its fists down towards him with a deep, gutteral roar of exertion.
He got low and fired out bursts of flas from the soles of his feet, launching himself forward and driving his spear towards the Monster Queen’s throat, as its fists slamd onto the ground behind him.
It quickly tilted its head across in alarm, yelping as the blade of the spear sliced across the side of its neck, blood streaming out before it drew back its arms, trying to grab Fyre.
The Knight swiftly unleashed blasts of flas from the soles of his feet to launch himself up into the air, spinning his spear across before plunging it down as the Monster Queen began to lift its gaze, but it was too slow to react.
The blade of the spear plunged into the middle of its forehead and pierced into its brain, a shudder of pain erupting across its body as it began to shakily reach up towards the handle of the spear.
Fyre swiftly channeled his Mana through the weapon, flas erupting around the blade inside the Monster’s brain and roasting it, killing it before it could strike back.
As the Monster collapsed onto its knees and began to fall over, Fyre pulled his spear back out and leapt off, landing a couple of ters away as the Monster Queen hit the ground with a thud, slumping against the dirt as wisps of smoke billowed out of the stab wound in its head.
"Nicely done, Captain!"
"You took that thing down so easily!"
Fyre glanced to his right as his team ca jogging over, having finished wiping out the other Sasquatches.
"Yeah, but only because it was a favorable match up. Now, then, we should go back and report this."
