Lina's breath got caught in the back of her throat.
She wasn't expecting the conversation to turn out this way.
Suzy let out a chuckle, finally freeing her hands and placing them on the cold, tal surface.
"It sounds absurd, right?" she chuckled. "How could a boy change how I think?"
"But then again, seeing him chase his dreams despite other people trying to put him down inspired ."
"Sohow, I want to learn that from him—to have sothing you're so passionate about you'd be willing to sacrifice for it."
Lina pursed her lips since she felt the sa way. However, the only thing that differed was that she felt she was already far too similar to Kai. The two of them had large goals, and she wanted to achieve those goals together.
"I know I look crazy trying to capture his attention most of the ti, but that's because this is the first ti I'm doing this—the first ti I'm chasing sothing I like."
Lina felt like her world ca crumbling down. She thought that Suzy's feelings for Kai were shallow. However, hearing her reasoning made her feel like she was the one with shallow feelings after all.
"I saw you guys talk a while back," she said. "And I also heard so of it."

Suzy apologetically smiled. "I was curious," she said. "I also wanted to talk to Kai, but you beat to it."
"Don't worry," she quickly disclaid. "I left after you guys started making sandcastles."
"That doesn't make it any better," Lina deadpanned.
"I know," Suzy said. "That's why I'm being really honest right now. I apologize."
"I also know that you guys decided to stay as friends," she continued. "I just want to ask—why? It seems like Kai likes you a lot."
Lina's cheeks ward up after Suzy's insinuation. Then, she let out a deep sigh before shrugging. "It's just better this way."
"I see," Suzy muttered. "It must have sothing to do with the fact that your dad doesn't want you to be with him, right? And vice versa?"
Lina's eyes widened once again, this ti facing Suzy with a look of disbelief.
Suzy chuckled and raised her arms in surrender. "Don't hate . Fei told these things. Sothing about getting revenge for you winning Kai over."
Lina's fists clenched as she glared into the distance. "That brat."
"Be glad that she shared it with , though," Suzy said.
Lina tilted her head to the side in curiosity. "Why?"
"Because I'll gladly take your place," she smiled, now making Lina frown.
"I know that you have good feelings for each other," Suzy continued. "However, it's impossible between you two right now."
Lina clicked her tongue. "Just because my dad doesn't approve of it now doesn't an that it would continue in such a way. Besides, you've already answered it yourself. We have good feelings for each other."
"I'm coming from a good place when I'm saying this," Suzy said, also facing Lina.
The tension between them increased a hundredfold. The sentintal feeling from their initial conversation was long gone, and now, it felt like they were on a battlefield of your own.
"Like I said—I've never wanted sothing until I t Kai," she remarked. "So, I'm not going to give up."
"It's just my dad that doesn't want this," Lina firmly said.
"That's right," Suzy smiled. "Your dad is in the way. That's sothing we have in common."
"My dad also doesn't approve of this. I know he won't allow it."
"But I'm not scared," Suzy said with determination, causing Lina's heart to drop.
"The two of us are in the sa situation."
"However, I will continue to fight for it."
"That's how desperate I am."
"That's our difference."

"Finally," Jian muttered as they erged from the gates. There were still people pointing toward them, especially at Jian. However, he chose to ignore it.
"I already miss my room," he continued. "I'm glad that it's over."
Chaoxing, who was the only one who heard his statent, shook his head in amusent. "How can you say that when you stayed in your room for the past two days? It's not like you trained with us."
Jian looked at Chaoxing straight in the eyes.
"Tell ," he started off. "Do I need it?"
Chaoxing's gaze faltered, and at that mont, he realized that Jian was really out of the ordinary.
"Who knows?" Chaoxing asked. "One day, you might regret not training as much."
Jian shook his head. "That won't happen. It never happened, and it never will. I might face stronger opponents in the future, but that is because they had lived more years than I had. Once I get to their age bracket, I'd be the best once again."
Chaoxing sighed, not bothering to reply to him anymore. Instead, he focused his gaze elsewhere, specifically on the other team that had erged from the doors of the smaller building.
"Headcount!" Lina exclaid as the Shizi Dogs all gathered together.
"There he is," Chaoxing said, nudging Jian's shoulder.
Jian, who was about to place his earphones on, clicked his tongue and focused on Chaoxing.
"What?" he deadpanned.
"The guy I was talking to you about. The interesting one," Chaoxing said. "If you would have co out of the room once, then you would have t him earlier."
Chaoxing pointed toward Kai, so Jian quickly followed the direction with his eyes.
For a mont, he was stunned. Not only because this was the guy he t on the outdoor basketball court on his first night here but also because he was actually more handso than he initially rembered.
Well, the lights weren't too strong at that ti, so his face was partially darkened.
"That guy's a basketball player?" Jian asked.
"Yup," Chaoxing said, sounding proud despite Kai being an opponent. "He looks like a model, right? I also think it's unfair that he's good-looking and a good player, but I just ca to accept it."
Jian clicked his tongue and shook his head, placing one earphone on.
Chaoxing's eyebrows furrowed. "What?" he asked.
"I didn't say anything," Jian said, appearing innocent.
"But I know that look in your eyes," Chaoxing deadpanned. "You have sothing you want to say."
Jian smirked and placed the other earphones on.
"I must say—you should raise your standards."
"Because that guy…" he said, his gaze focused on Kai.
"…is nothing special."
