"Alright, class," Sir Dao said right before his class ended.

"I need you to pass the quiz papers I distributed the other day. It seems like I've made a mistake and thought I had recorded it when I hadn't."

Kai froze as soon as the old man said those words.

He looked around and saw everyone bringing out the piece of paper.

"Thank goodness! I never clean my bag, so it's still here."

"I used it as a scrap paper, but it's alright. It's still intact."

Kai continued looking around, searching for a companion.

However, he quickly lost hope when he saw that even Rambo had his.

"Crap," he muttered.

That particular quiz paper was in the trash bin of the diner where Renren was working!

"Pass the papers," Sir Dao instructed, making Kai pursed his lips.

Bao looked at him with confusion. "Where's your paper?"

"I don't have it," Kai said.

Sir Dao frowned when he saw Bao and Kai conversing in hushed tones.

"What's going on there?" he asked.

Kai let out a deep breath before confessing his mistake.

"I don't have mine," Kai said, making Sir Dao frown.

He clicked his tongue. "Do you have it at ho?"

"No," Kai answered.

"Then, where is it?" Sir Dao asked, his frown deepening.

Kai hesitantly spoke. "In the trash."

With his statent, the class burst into laughter. anwhile, Sir Dao massaged his nose bridge in frustration.

"Goodness," he muttered. "I'll give you a zero!"

Kai shrugged. "It's okay, sir," he said, almost as if he wasn't affected, making Sir Dao even more frustrated.

What was more frustrating, however, was that Sir Dao knew that Kai got a perfect score.

"You should be more responsible with your belongings," he continued in a scolding tone.

After that, he leaned against the table, suddenly feeling exhausted.

"I would really hate it if soone like you were associated with my daughter," Sir Dao added with resentnt.

The class was flabbergasted by his revelation.

"You have a daughter?"

***

"I really can't believe Sir Dao has a daughter," Bao said as they made their way to the basketball court.

" too," Kai said. "It's hard to believe that soone fell in love with him. They must really have low standards."

Bao burst into chuckles.

"I bet his daughter is atrocious," Bao said, already imagining a younger female version of Sir Dao, making him shiver.

Just then, Bao halted, causing Kai to stop, too.

"It's Suzy," he whisper-shouted.

Kai frowned. "What's the big deal if she's there?" he asked.

Bao ignored him and continued looking at Suzy as they practiced.

Then, Bao gasped loudly. "Is she looking over this way? She is!"

Kai's frown deepened as he directed his gaze to where the cheerleading team was practicing.

He confird that she was, indeed, looking toward their way.

Then, much to his surprise, Suzy threw him a wave. However, it was a very subtle one, making Kai doubt that it was for him.

"She just smiled and waved at you!" he exclaid while patting Kai's chest. "Since when were you so close?"

Kai shook his head. "We're not close," he responded. "Besides, that was barely a wave."

"Aww," Bao said. "For a mont, I thought that Suzy actually acknowledged your presence."

"That's impossible," Kai muttered.

"Are you going to join in the court today?" Kai asked.

"Yup!" Bao said. "I heard that you guys were going to register your team, so the second-string team will train on the court instead."

"Hmm," Kai humd. "Let's go together. They must be waiting for us."

Indeed, the basketball team was already waiting for Kai as he made his way inside.

Bao quickly trudged to the second-string team while Kai walked to where Yuze and the rest of the team were.

"What took you so long?" Jet asked.

"Bao and I had a conversation," Kai responded.

Kai then looked around, frowning, and saw that there were only six of them.

"The others couldn't make it if you're looking for them," Lina said as she observed Kai's expression.

Kai pursed his lips. "Is it only us then?"

"Pretty much," Lina said.

Kai sighed as he turned his attention to the door, hoping for soone to enter.

Just then, he felt a force on his back.

"Don't look for him," Yuze said. "There's only a slim chance that he's going to co back to the team."

Kai was disappointed. However, at the sa ti, he felt like he had done everything that he could.

"It's a sha," Kun said. "It would have been nice if Renren actually ca."

Yuze didn't say anything and rely looked down at the ground.

The team's disappointnt could be felt from miles away, but they also couldn't do anything about it.

Lina sighed before speaking.

"Let's go?" she asked.

"Hmm," Yuze said. "We don't want to be caught by the sunset."

With that, the group of six started making their way to the door.

However, just as they arrived in front of the double doors, it opened, and the light ca inside the court.

After that, Renren, dressed in Shizi's uniform, appeared before them, causing the Shizi Dogs to freeze—even Kai.

Renren stood there for a mont, smiling with swollen eyes—as if he had cried the night before...

...and he did.

Last night, after his father revealed that he had enrolled him back at Shizi High, he almost couldn't believe it.

However, it was true, and he was granted a brand new opportunity to do the thing he loved the most.

Renren stepped inside, wearing his old uniform.

Then, he scratched the back of his head as he observed their disbelieving faces.

"Am I late?" he asked.

The Shizi Dogs couldn't find it in themselves to respond.

However, at that mont, Kai snapped back to reality, a smirk instantly appearing on his face.

It felt like the world paused as he looked at his six teammates.

Kai felt his heart pounding in his chest as he imagined what ca next for the team.

"Exciting," he whispered.

This was it.

Seven players.

A competent captain with great individual skills.

A great defender with improving foundations.

A swift and annoying small forward.

A lanky sharpshooter.

A tall and aggressive point guard.

A calculative co-captain.

And him—the Mad Dog.

The new, revamped Shizi Dogs.
