Back to the Past: The Rise of the False Heiress Marrying the True Tycoon Chapter 1172: Su Shen's Vision
Chapter 1172: Su Shen’s Vision
In any marriage, one party eventually has to give in—because if both insist on being strong-willed, the family is bound to fall apart.
Now, it appeared that Chen Yu had chosen to back down. And Gu Zi was genuinely happy for Sun Yi. After all, a harmonious family life could only boost one’s performance at work. If Sun Yi started raking in more profits thanks to a smoother ho front, Gu Zi stood to benefit as well—what could be better?
Still, Gu Zi couldn’t stop thinking about the two n’s conversation she had overheard earlier.
“What were they talking about—sothing about a branch company?” she asked, turning toward Sun Yi with curiosity.
“Oh, that,” Sun Yi said, casually. “Your dear husband, Su Shen, brought it up. He wants to open a branch in your hotown, Guangcheng City, focused entirely on electrical research and production. Nothing’s finalized yet—they still need to conduct a series of site evaluations and project assessnts. But personally, I think it has huge potential. The country is pushing hard on dostic R&D and breaking through tech barriers. If this goes well, the company’s valuation could multiply several tis over.”
Now, Sun Yi wasn’t the type to interrupt business discussions between n—that was just basic etiquette. But she did know how to listen, how to absorb the critical pieces of information, the important bits that helped her keep her finger on the pulse. And she had to admit—Su Shen had far keener business instincts than her own husband ever did. Truth be told, Chen Yu had lucked out landing Su Shen as a partner.
Gu Zi nodded thoughtfully. “I agree, Sun Yi. I think the model could really work. If Su Shen’s company manages to develop the electrical components dostically—without relying on imports—it’ll drastically cut the cost of household appliances. More everyday families would finally be able to afford them. And if that happens, his company could very well beco a pioneer in the industry.”
In all honesty, Gu Zi was impressed—really impressed—by Su Shen’s foresight. To be thinking about this kind of thing at this stage… no wonder the man made serious money.
Throughout dinner, Gu Zi couldn’t stop mulling over Su Shen’s proposed venture. Her gaze kept drifting toward him, and this ti, it wasn’t just her usual sidelong glance. No—tonight, there was sothing different in her eyes. Admiration. Genuine awe. That kind of look, bright and focused, didn’t go unnoticed.
Su Shen caught it, of course. He furrowed his brows slightly, puzzled, and asked her after the al, “What’s going on with you tonight? You’ve been staring at the entire ti.”
Gu Zi had just bitten into an apple. Startled by his sudden question, her eyes locked with his. She flushed a little but didn’t dodge. Instead, she told him outright, “I heard about your plan from Sun Yi. I think it’s brilliant. You’re incredibly forward-thinking.”
Su Shen blinked, caught off guard. “You know already? Aren’t you the least bit worried? This kind of massive investnt—what if it doesn’t work out? What if sothing goes wrong midway and it all falls apart?”
Gu Zi shook her head, calm and unwavering. “I’m not worried. Investnt always cos with risk, but I believe in your ability. I know you can do this. Even if problems crop up along the way, don’t be afraid. No matter what happens, we’re family. Worst case, we pack it all up and move back to Daqing Village—you go back to slaughtering pigs, and I’ll buy shares in the local snack shop.”
Her words weren’t just casual optimism. Part of her confidence ca from her knowledge of the original plotline—a truth hidden deep inside her. But another part of it was simply her gut instinct. She genuinely felt it: Su Shen was the kind of man you could rely on. If even he couldn’t pull this off, then no one else had a shot.
Her conviction gave Su Shen a new sense of resolve. Truthfully, he had been hesitating about whether to go through with the project. He wasn’t single anymore—he had a wife, a child, a family. A misstep now wouldn’t just cost him everything. It would drag them all down. He couldn’t bear to see Gu Zi suffer because of his ambition. That’s why he hadn’t dared to finalize the plan.
He certainly hadn’t planned on telling her yet. But now that she knew—and was standing so firmly behind him—he couldn’t hold back.
“All right,” he said, gripping her hand with unshakable determination. “If Chen Yu doesn’t want to invest, I’ll do it on my own. Gu Zi, I will give you a better life. Just watch.”
At that mont, Sun Yi and Chen Yu returned from their after-dinner stroll—only to walk straight into this intimate scene. Su Shen was still holding Gu Zi’s hand, his voice low and affectionate.
Sun Yi gave Chen Yu a sharp glare before striding back into the room, looking very much like she had sothing to say. Chen Yu followed behind, looking helpless. He could already imagine the lecture waiting for him once they got ho.
And if Chen Yu thought he had it bad, well—his younger brother Chen Xi wasn’t faring much better.
From the mont dinner ended, he’d been dragged off by a swarm of kids demanding he light firecrackers with them. Not once had he managed to sit down. What was this? His brother and sister-in-law ca out to celebrate the New Year and enjoy a lovely dinner… and he was out here acting as the children’s entertainnt committee?
It was tragic, really.
At ho, he babysat nephews. Out in public, he played with other people’s kids. He was starting to seriously question his life choices. Was it all because he was single? Was this the universe’s cruel punishnt for not being married?
Inside the house, the group had moved on to dessert. Plates of fruit were passed around. Sun Yi sat down and glanced aningfully at Gu Zi’s belly, sighing with admiration.
“Girl, how do you do it?” she asked. “You’re months into your pregnancy, and you don’t look the slightest bit tired. If anything, you’ve got more glow, more energy, and honestly? You’ve gotten prettier too. Did you stumble on so secret miracle recipe or what?”
