Chapter 1091: Dormmates

Although Gu Zi lived nearby and technically didn’t need to stay on campus, she figured having a dorm bed might co in handy. It would be a perfect place to rest during lunchti or a cozy refuge on rainy or windy days when going back ho felt like a chore. Besides, it just seed more convenient to have a dorm room.

The dormitory building had clearly seen better days, with that vintage institutional charm that scread early-2000s budget.

Gu Zi was assigned a room on the second floor—an absolute win in her books. No need to haul herself up endless stairs.

She was the first to arrive, and as she pushed the door open, the layout was imdiately clear: four beds arranged neatly, no top bunks for sleeping—only for storage. Each bed was a lower bunk, aning more comfort and no ladders.

A small balcony peeked out on one side, equipped with clothes-drying rods and a radiator. On either end of the balcony, two sets of cabinets stood sentinel, their four doors hinting at the potential for territorial wars to co.

She picked the bed closest to the balcony. The air was fresher there, and honestly, who didn’t want a bit more light and breeze?

The school had provided brand-new bedding, so there was no need to bring her own. Since she was already here, she figured she might as well make the bed right away and then head out to buy so daily necessities. Even if she was only planning to use the room for the occasional nap, it was still going to be her space. Better to co prepared and not have to borrow things from others later on.

She had just finished laying out the sheets when a knock sounded at the door. Two girls entered, luggage in tow, chatting animatedly. The mont they spotted Gu Zi, they bead and hurried over to greet her.

“Hi there! Have you already picked a bed?” one of them asked cheerfully. “We got assigned this room too—looks like we’re going to be roommates! I’m Tang Xue, and this is Li Juan.”

Gu Zi smiled politely and introduced herself. “Nice to et you both. I’m Gu Zi. Looking forward to living with you.”

The mont Li Juan laid eyes on Gu Zi, her expression lit up like a shopping mall at Christmas. Unable to help herself, she leaned in closer, eyes practically sparkling. “Gu Zi, you’re so pretty. You have this amazing aura about you, and your fashion sense is totally on point. Which high school did you go to? I bet you were the campus beauty, right?”

Gu Zi chuckled. “I’m not from the capital. I actually ca here from Guangcheng.”

She tilted her head slightly. “Judging by your reaction, are you both locals?”

That caught Li Juan off guard. She’d been sure Gu Zi was a native Beijinger. With her elegance and polished look, it just fit. After all, the capital was the epicenter of both politics and style in the country—surely anyone this chic had to be from here. But now… she wasn’t so sure.

Slightly embarrassed, Li Juan nodded. “Yeah, we’re both locals. But Guangcheng’s a great city too—big economy down south and all that. We’ve definitely heard about it.”

The three of them chatted casually for a while, and in that ti, Gu Zi began to piece things together.

As it turned out, Imperial Capital University had sothing akin to a residency protection policy—the admissions score requirents for locals were significantly lower than for outsiders.

It suddenly made perfect sense why three out of four roommates in this dorm were from the capital. The competition for out-of-towners to get into this elite institution must be cutthroat.

Not long after, the final roommate arrived. Predictably, she was also a local. Her na was Zhao Ling.

With the squad finally assembled, the four girls decided to do a round of dorm-cleaning together.

Midway through, Gu Zi popped downstairs to let Su Shen and the others know they might have to wait a little longer. But Su Le clung to her like a baby koala refusing to be pried off a eucalyptus tree, so in the end, Gu Zi simply picked her up and brought her back to the dorm.

This unexpected turn of events revealed a juicy piece of information to her new roommates—Gu Zi was already married. Not only that, she had three children.

The arrival of a toddler in the dorm turned the place from a sleepy college room into a lively scene from a cozy family sitcom. Still, with everyone pitching in, they wrapped up the cleaning pretty quickly.

Gu Zi glanced down at Su Le and said gently, “I still need to buy so essentials for the dorm.”

The mont Tang Xue and Li Juan heard that, they practically leapt to their feet, eager to tag along.

“Let’s go together!” they chirped.

Their enthusiasm had little to do with shopping. Honestly, they could buy daily items any ti. What really piqued their interest was the news that Gu Zi’s husband and sons were waiting downstairs. Naturally, curiosity had kicked into high gear—they simply had to see what kind of man had the fortune, or sheer audacity, to marry soone as young and stunning as Gu Zi.

Zhao Ling, on the other hand, opted to stay behind. She had already bought all her supplies and had zero interest in seeing Gu Zi’s husband or kids.

In fact, the whole concept baffled her. Who gets married and has three children and decides to go to university?

She’d taken one look at Gu Zi earlier and assud she must’ve been so wealthy heiress from a prominent Beijing family. The truth? A married woman with three kids.

In Zhao Ling’s mind, it was classic nouveau riche behavior—so older rich guy who needed a beautiful young wife as a trophy. So predictable. So tasteless. She didn’t even need to see him to know the type.

anwhile, Gu Zi descended the stairs and spotted her husband and their sons. She gestured toward them and turned to her roommates with an easy smile.

“This is my husband, and these are our two sons,” she said. “They ca with to help with registration.”

Tang Xue and Li Juan froze for a beat, taking in the sight before them. For a mont, neither of them knew quite what to say.

Because standing before them wasn’t so potbellied, balding tycoon. No—Gu Zi’s husband was devastatingly handso. A little older than her, sure, but tall, effortlessly dashing, and exuding an air of quiet authority.

He had that magnetic kind of presence that made people instinctively straighten their backs. And he had taken the ti to accompany his wife on her first day. Thoughtful and loyal? Be still their hearts.

As for the two boys—well, the older one was a miniature version of his father: cool, composed, and definitely going to be a heartbreaker. The younger one was a bundle of sunshine. The mont he saw them, he chirped, “Pretty sisters!” with such earnest delight that Tang Xue and Li Juan nearly lted on the spot.

Their faces practically blood with smiles.
