Back to the Past: The Rise of the False Heiress Marrying the True Tycoon Chapter 1054: Glowing
Chapter 1054: Glowing
Gu Zi vividly rembered ntioning once that Su Shen looked great in dress shirts. Ever since then, he had practically lived in the ones she bought for him—wearing them to work, at ho, and even rolling up his sleeves to water the vegetables in the backyard.
It was as if he wanted to weld the shirts onto his body.
The thought suddenly struck her—he ran a pig farm. Did that an he was wearing a dress shirt even when he helped out at the slaughterhouse? The image was too absurd to entertain.
Su Shen, with one hand on the steering wheel, spoke in his usual calm tone. “I’m used to it now. You like seeing in them, so I’ve gotten used to wearing them.”
Gu Zi was montarily thrown off by his words. What did he an, ‘because she liked it, he got used to it’?
Since when did this older man beco so smooth with his words?
She almost wondered if soone had taken over his body. But she decided not to dwell on it. If he was comfortable in them, then so be it—he did look good, after all.
Before long, they arrived at the Su family’s courtyard.
The mont the car stopped, Gu Zi hopped out and hurried inside. There was nothing like coming ho after a trip—everything felt extra cozy.
Her pace quickened unconsciously, and the mont she stepped through the door, the rich aroma of food greeted her. She turned back to Su Shen, eyes alight. “Su Bing is cooking lunch for us—it slls amazing! That kid is really sothing!”
Though Gu Zi had taught Su Bing plenty of recipes, she rarely let him cook alone. No matter how mature he seed, he was still a child, and she wasn’t comfortable letting him handle the kitchen unsupervised. So the fact that he had managed to prepare a al for the entire family on his own was truly impressive.
What’s more, despite her and Su Shen being out for so long, Su Li had been at ho with Gao Ming and Su Le, and there hadn’t been any chaos. It was clear that Su Bing had things under control. The younger ones actually listened to him!
If things kept going this way, Gu Zi mused, she could probably retire at thirty and leave the household in Su Bing’s capable hands.
Su Shen, catching the scent of the food as well, nodded approvingly. If even the discerning Gu Zi was praising it, then Su Bing’s skills had definitely improved.
“You go rest,” he said. “I’ll go help him in the kitchen.”
The mont Su Shen disappeared into the kitchen, Su Li and the two younger children sward around Gu Zi. Su Li asked with concern, “Mom, those bad guys didn’t give you any trouble, did they?”
Gu Zi chuckled. “The police already caught them. They won’t be causing any more trouble—not for or anyone else.”
Su Le threw herself into Gu Zi’s arms, her soft voice brimming with admiration. “Mommy’s amazing! I want to be just like you when I grow up!”
Gu Zi hugged the little girl tightly and smiled indulgently. “Of course! You’ll grow up to be just as amazing. And rember, all of you—Su Le, Su Li, Gao Ming—if you ever face trouble, the first thing you should think about is using the legal weapon to protect yourselves.”
The three children nodded in unison, their eyes shining with admiration. At that mont, in their eyes, Gu Zi might as well have been glowing.
Then, after a brief pause, Su Li suddenly furrowed his brows as if he had just thought of sothing important. “Mom… so, um… what exactly is a legal weapon?”
Gu Zi looked at his innocent face and nearly laughed.
This kid—if she wasn’t careful, he might just follow up with, ‘Can we eat it?’ The thought of giving him a serious legal lecture right now felt like such a buzzkill.
But just as she was trying to find the right words, Su Shen and Su Bing erged from the kitchen, carrying the food to the table.
Saved by the bell.
Relieved that she didn’t have to explain, Gu Zi picked up her bowl and took a bite of rice. It was fragrant, cooked just right—almost as good as her own.
After swallowing, she turned to Su Bing, raising an eyebrow. “I didn’t realize you’d mastered my cooking techniques too.”
Su Bing’s face brightened at the indirect complint. “Mom, I spent all sumr learning from you. I can take over cooking from now on.”
Gu Zi shook her head. “You can’t just focus on cooking. Actually, I’ve already planned sothing for your sumr vacation.”
She glanced at the kids, a knowing smile playing on her lips. “Su Bing and Su Li will each enroll in a sumr class to learn a new skill. As for Su Le, it’s ti for her to start training with her father in basic martial arts.”
All three children were exceptionally talented in their own ways. Letting those talents go to waste would be a sha. Now that Su Bing and Su Li were growing older, it was ti for them to start learning seriously.
She wasn’t going to be like Xu Sheng’s mom, packing their schedules to the brim with classes and leaving no room for rest.
But they couldn’t just spend every sumr and winter break playing around like they had in the countryside, either.
And as for Su Le—though she was still young, it wasn’t too early to start building a strong foundation.
Gu Zi was determined that her daughter would not et the sa tragic fate as in the original novel. This ti, Su Le would grow up happy, strong, and fearless—the kind of modern girl who could take on the world.
