Chapter 1672: Chapter 1672: Journey South 4
The two guards prepared plenty of food for her, afraid she might get hungry on the road. Feng Qingxue, pretending to take sothing from her bag, pulled out a few boiled eggs she’d tucked away in a hidden compartnt. She first invited the two leaders, who said they had already eaten, and then invited the accompanying doctors. Most of them had already eaten; only Ming Lan hadn’t, so she joined Feng Qingxue for milk, eggs, and biscuits to ease their hunger.
The journey was long, yet no one felt constrained by the high-ranking status of the two senior leaders.
So continued their previous discussions, while others directly conversed with the senior leaders, inquiring about the naval forces’ situation.
This was also a characteristic of the tis, as senior leaders often t with workers, peasants, soldiers, and students, and since most leaders ca from humble backgrounds, they interacted with others without an overbearing attitude.
Ding Guofeng sat next to Feng Qingxue, “How are your father and Xibao? Hailan talks about Xibao every day.”
After returning to the Capital, he finally understood the fortune of himself and his grandson. Unlike others who were sent to various places and suffered hardships, they had been spared.
Thus, Ding Guofeng grew more grateful for the Lu Family’s assistance.
“They’re doing well, all in Wucheng. As soon as I received the transfer order, I set off imdiately, without having the chance to say goodbye. I wonder if they’ll be angry when I return,” Feng Qingxue replied with a smile, “I didn’t expect you were going to the South Sea too. It seems the situation is quite severe!”
Ding Guofeng nodded, “Yes, if the enemy doesn’t retreat, a fight is inevitable.”
Indeed, a fight did ensue, Feng Qingxue thought to herself.
The current plane speeds were not as fast as those decades later; by the ti they arrived at the Southeast Military Region, it was already evening.
Unlike the cold in Wucheng and the Capital, the climate in the Southeast Military Region was exceptionally warm.
The sun hadn’t set yet, and the warm sunlight on their faces rged with the sparkle in Feng Qingxue’s eyes.
Feng Qingxue raised her hand to shield herself from the sun, observing her companions exclaiming about the heat, clumsily taking off their military coats and cotton jackets. The situation was manageable on top, with so in shirts and others in thermal tops, putting on the outerwear they removed from cotton jackets, but they couldn’t imdiately take off the heavy cotton pants, which made them feel quite embarrassed, sweating profusely.
Feng Qingxue calmly took off her military coat and cotton jacket, folded them neatly into the much heavier pre-departure bundle, revealing the white shirt overlaid with a sky-blue cashre vest beneath, looking fresh, clean, and pleasant.
Before boarding, when tidying up her appearance and clothing in the restroom, she considered the southern weather, layering with underwear, shirt, vest, cotton jacket, coat, and military coat; having removed the cotton pants, the cashre pants were sowhat hot but tolerable. If it got colder, she could add a jacket on top, as it was all quite convenient.
Seeing this, the two leaders smiled, “No rush, they certainly have accommodations arranged for us.”
This ant they could change clothes once settled because the two elders also felt the heat from the cotton pants wrapping their legs, like it was bursting into flas.
The person who ca to pick them up was Lao Zhenhua, along with two senior military officers unfamiliar to Feng Qingxue, and there were about seven or eight cars to transport them. The two leaders were invited into the cars first, followed by the reassigned doctors.
Possibly, the old chief had given instructions, so the doctors were to be sent to the military district’s guesthouse for als and rest first.
Lao Zhenhua glanced over the crowd sternly and said, “The two leaders will likely stay here for a few days, whereas you will have to take a ship directly to the island where the fleet is stationed early tomorrow morning. There, arrangents for you will be made.”
