Chapter 1561: Chapter 1561: A Girl 3

Veterans like Old Liu, who fought bravely but chose to retire in anonymity, were not uncommon. Lu Jiang and Feng Qingxue couldn’t help but feel a deep respect for him.

After silently contemplating for a mont, while Lu Jiang was still looking at the photographs, Feng Qingxue sighed and said, “Third Uncle, my biggest concern is that Erya might find it very difficult to integrate into Liu Zhenguo’s family life. Although I rarely interact with Liu Zhenguo and Wang Guizhen in daily life, their family has quite a number of children. Their youngest son, eldest grandson, youngest daughter, and youngest granddaughter… if not ten altogether, there are at least eight of them.”

“That many kids?” Cheng Baoguo expressed his shock.

“Exactly. And that’s not even counting the fact that their eldest son and eldest daughter have already started their own jobs and don’t live there anymore,” Feng Qingxue explained, even though she didn’t see Liu Family often, she was well-inford. “If I’m not mistaken, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren live in the military compound for convenience.” For convenience in forming connections and for added prestige when one stepped out.

Cheng Baoguo furrowed his eyebrows. “Even the grandchildren? How many of them? Altogether, how many?” He thought it was just the youngest son, youngest daughter, eldest grandson, and youngest granddaughter. He hadn’t realized the count included not only grandsons and granddaughters but great-grandchildren as well.

Feng Qingxue gave it so thought and answered, “One grandson-in-law, one granddaughter-in-law, plus two grandsons and two granddaughters.”

Adding in the youngest son and youngest daughter, that indeed made eight children in total.

Cheng Baoguo imdiately frowned. “From what you’re saying, Erya’s life in their family won’t be easy.”

With so many children, conflicts naturally arise, not to ntion that Liu Erya only has distant blood ties with them and no emotional foundation. The blood ties are already diluted by one generation, making not only Feng Qingxue apprehensive but also Cheng Baoguo increasingly uneasy.

“It’s not that I’m overthinking things, Third Uncle,” Feng Qingxue sighed. “Human nature is complicated, and it’s hard not to worry.”

Cheng Baoguo said, “You’ve considered this thoroughly and reminded as well. Once Erya goes to Liu Zhenguo’s house, since you’re all on the sa base, keep an eye on her. If she really faces exclusion or mistreatnt, I will think of another solution. I suspect Old Liu didn’t know much about Liu Zhenguo’s family situation. If he did, he would’ve made arrangents for soone else to take Erya in, rather than sending her directly to Liu Zhenguo’s family during his final days.”

What they could think of, Old Liu surely could have thought of as well—Old Liu wasn’t naive.

“Should we still send Erya to Liu Zhenguo’s family now?” Feng Qingxue asked. There was still ti to change their minds. Both within the military and among retired veterans outside the base, there were quite a few families without children, so of whom were progressive and didn’t hold a preference for sons over daughters.

Cheng Baoguo thought for a mont. “We’re here now, so let’s first approach Liu Zhenguo. If the Liu Family truly can’t accommodate Erya, then we’ll reconsider our options.”

Since he had taken on Old Liu’s trust, he was responsible for Erya.

Lu Jiang nodded and said, “Should we pay him a visit directly, or ask soone to have Liu Zhenguo co to us?”

“Have him co here! I need to ask him if he still rembers the daughter who was fostered with Old Liu’s family,” Cheng Baoguo said firmly. “It’s not sothing to be forced—that’s exactly what Erya’s mother said back then, which is why she chose not to seek out her biological parents and decided to leave Erya with Old Liu. You don’t know this, but Erya’s mother, smart and capable, was full of potential for college and even went to school with Tianjun. Her proper na was Liu Yuanyuan, but she was born frail and couldn’t survive childbirth—a trial deed as King Yama’s gate.”

Went to school with Lu Tianjun? Lu Jiang and Feng Qingxue grew even more curious about Erya’s past.

Lu Jiang, who was about to call the orderly to fetch Liu Zhenguo, suddenly rembered that Liu Zhenguo had work today. He turned to Cheng Baoguo and said, “Third Uncle, why don’t we take a break first and have so proper family ti? We can reach out to him tomorrow instead.”
