Hearing that she needed help, Wang Weimin stopped what he was doing.

He could see that this female comrade was deliberately trying to make him accept the things by pretending to have a task that required his assistance, saving him from embarrassnt.

He quietly rembered this favor, thinking he would surely repay it properly if given the chance.

"Alright, as long as I can do it, I will definitely help."

Su Xiaoxiao thought for a mont, then said, "I’m also taking the college entrance exam next year, but I’m a bit lacking in mathematics. Mr. Wang, if you have suitable materials, I’d like to borrow them."

"Of course, I do."

Wang Weimin greatly admired students willing to learn, especially a female comrade, since in this era, a woman’s sole mission seed to be getting married and having children. Only in relatively enlightened families were girls allowed to go to school.

In traditional thinking, boys were the ones to carry on the family na and honor, while girls only had the mission to continue the family lineage.

In his many years of teaching, he had seen many gifted girls whose potentials were unfortunately stifled by parents with the notion that "a girl will marry eventually, so there’s no need for too much education."

This female comrade not only had a good heart but was also very motivated, which made Wang Weimin look at Su Xiaoxiao with more admiration.

"Wait a mont, I teach mathematics, and I happen to have quite a few math review books."

As Wang Weimin spoke, he started to rummage through a woven bag, soon finding and pulling out three thick volus, which he handed to Su Xiaoxiao.

Su Xiaoxiao looked down and saw that these three books were obviously well-used, packed with annotations, and several loose pages had been carefully sewn with clumsy stitches, while the covers were wrapped in newspaper, indicating they were cherished.

"Thanks a lot, Mr. Wang. I’ll read them until I get off at Hai City, and I should be able to finish them by then and return them to you."

The books appeared greatly treasured, so Su Xiaoxiao didn’t want to deprive him of sothing he loved. She thought she could use the ga’s photo function to record as she read.

She read quickly, and it would take around seven to eight hours to reach Hai City, so it shouldn’t be an issue.

Wang Weimin was taken aback at her words; each book had around four to five hundred pages, and morizing them in seven to eight hours seed impossible.

Even just skimming, it might not be possible to finish them.

This young girl was surely making up an excuse just to give him things.

He quickly said, "No need to rush. I’m giving you these books, as I have already gone through and morized them."

"How can I accept that? These review books are valuable, and it’s enough that I can borrow them. Don’t worry, I read very quickly."

After finishing her statent as though to prove her point, Su Xiaoxiao dove into the books and quickly skimd through a dozen pages.

Seeing her reaction, Wang Weimin thought she was probably putting on a show and planned to convince her to keep the books when she returned them.

This was an era when college entrance exams had just reopened, and there weren’t many study materials available.

The set of review materials Su Xiaoxiao had were integrated across various subjects, but the math portion wasn’t as detailed.

She wasn’t wrong about one thing: even though she was a science student in the modern era, her math was relatively weak.

She had chosen science at that ti because science and engineering majors had better job prospects, though her skills in humanities were actually stronger.

Still, Su Xiaoxiao was extrely confident in one area: she had an excellent mory, almost photographic.

Su Xiaoxiao read intently, and quickly finished a book, returning it to Wang Weimin: "Mr. Wang, I’ve morized this one; you can put it away."

Wang Weimin: "..."

While this young girl had indeed been thoroughly reading, it had been less than two hours, so it was unrealistic to think she could morize the entire book and not just skim through it.

Before he could speak, a harshly sarcastic voice ca from beside them: "Little girl, aren’t you afraid you’ll hurt your tongue boasting like that? How could you morize it in such a short ti? You probably haven’t even absorbed the content on the first page fully."

The speaker was the old lady who hadn’t gained an advantage earlier.

The half-eaten sorghum head Su Xiaoxiao had almost chipped her tooth on earlier had left the old lady looking at her with displeasure now.

Su Xiaoxiao turned frustratedly to glance at the old lady: "How do you know I haven’t morized it?"

The old lady snorted: "My grandson is one of the top students in his class and consistently praised by teachers, but even he needs at least ten days to morize a book this thick. How could a girl like you possibly manage it?"

Su Xiaoxiao felt the urge to roll her eyes: "If your grandson can’t morize it, he must be slow. If he’s slow, he should practice more; what’s your achievent in doubting others?"

The old lady wasn’t happy with that: "My grandson isn’t slow! But you, young miss, do talk wildly. Very well, if you’ve morized it, why don’t you show us?"

The old lady cast an eyeball scornfully at Su Xiaoxiao: "If you’ve truly morized this book, I’ll give you five, no, ten dollars, but if you lose, give ten dollars. How’s that?"

Su Xiaoxiao: "..."

Is there really soone looking for a lesson?

Confident in her mory, she boldly answered, "You’re on."

Wang Weimin felt a bit confused; wait, how did this turn into a bet?

He believed his own mory was good and yet dared not make such a claim.

When he morized this entire book, it took him over a week, and his colleagues were shocked.

He wanted to persuade Su Xiaoxiao: "Mr. Su, and madam, perhaps it’s best not to wager like this. Testing on a train isn’t convenient."

"Why should we cancel? I think you’re all in on it; this young girl agreed, so let’s hurry up and not ss around, or admit defeat and pay up."

The old lady was certain Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t do it and beca even more assertive.

The young girl is quite arrogant, but let’s see how arrogant she remains.

"Mr. Wang, could you please help out..."

As Su Xiaoxiao spoke, the old lady imdiately protested: "He can’t help, you’re in league with him, and he might go easy on you."

She turned her gaze to an older man wearing glasses and a Zhongshan suit sitting nearby, his hair graying, saying, "Sir, you seem well-educated, could you please assist us?"

The older gentleman was reading. Upon hearing this, he turned his book face down on the table and looked over: "Elder sister, what’s the matter?"

His manner was polite and courteous, obviously a cultured person.

The old lady quickly recapped the wager between the two.

Learning that Su Xiaoxiao claid to have morized a thick math book in under two hours, the gentleman beca intrigued: "No problem, I’ll be the temporary examiner."
