"Stop, it’s broad daylight and you people have no regard for the law!"

Su Xiaoxiao stepped forward in a few strides. A few n, seeing a young girl with thin arms and legs, holding a short stick for show, instantly wore expressions of disdain.

"Tsk, does she even know her own weight? Trying to act the hero, tsk tsk..."

The young man leading the group sneered, giving her a dismissive look.

The old woman, seeing an unfamiliar girl, spat at Su Xiaoxiao: "Bah, you wretched girl, this is a family matter, mind your damn business."

After speaking, she continued directing the n, "Hurry up and drag her away, why bother with a girl like that?"

"I forgot to tell you, I’ve already called the police. They’ll be here any minute, and human trafficking is a cri that could get you shot."

Su Xiaoxiao said unhurriedly and even glanced back dramatically, "The police station is just a few minutes from here, you guys are pretty bold."

"What human trafficking? What nonsense are you spouting? She’s the daughter-in-law my family bought and her life or death is up to us."

The old woman exploded upon hearing this, what the hell was this wretched girl saying? Her family paid for the girl; her life or death was their business.

"Trafficking people, and it’s not even your first ti. That’s a serious cri."

"What trafficking? Her parents willingly sold her to us, how is that trafficking?"

The old woman said confidently.

Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but want to roll her eyes; she hadn’t expected the old woman to be so ignorant of the law. Even birth parents don’t have the right to sell their children.

"Let her go. You don’t want to be invited to the police station for tea, do you?"

Su Xiaoxiao said, looking towards the young man in the lead.

The young man indeed looked a bit hesitant. Although they weren’t good people, they didn’t want to be caught by the police over this.

Moreover, the girl was quite young, swarthy, and sallow; she’d require a lot of care and effort. Getting caught over soone like that wasn’t worth it.

"What does this girl know? Just take her away. By the ti the police co, it’ll be too late."

The old woman, seeing her money slipping away, glared at Su Xiaoxiao fiercely and urged the n.

"Officer, hurry up, they’re all here, don’t let them escape."

At that mont, Su Xiaoxiao’s eyes suddenly lit up, and she yelled over their shoulders.

The n were already nervous, and upon hearing "police," they imdiately threw Wang Xiuxiu aside and darted into the nearby alley.

The old woman was dumbfounded: "Wait, you haven’t paid yet!"

"At a ti like this, you’re still thinking about money? Are you tired of living?"

Su Xiaoxiao said lazily, moving over to untie Wang Xiuxiu and removing the rag from her mouth.

"I’m not afraid even if the police co. What’s wrong with selling my daughter-in-law? It’s not illegal, is it?"

The old woman said confidently, but then guiltily glanced behind her. Realizing there were no police, she imdiately understood that the girl had tricked her.

"You damn girl, how dare you deceive ! I’ll strangle you!"

She roared, lunging at her.

Su Xiaoxiao was ready to fight back, but then she saw several figures quickly approaching from a distance and allowed the old woman to grab her throat.

Finally, they were here!

Earlier, she had given a passing child a di to report to the police for her, so what she’d said earlier was half true.

Wang Xiuxiu, now fully aware, saw Su Xiaoxiao being choked and hurriedly tried to pull the old woman’s hands away.

"You insolent girl, how dare you help outsiders!"

The old woman kicked Wang Xiuxiu in the stomach.

Chronically underfed, her body was frail, and she was unable to get up for a long ti after being kicked.

Seeing the rapidly approaching figures, Su Xiaoxiao pretended to struggle, then leaned back, taking the old woman down with her and faking unconsciousness.

From the officers’ perspective, it looked as if the old woman had kicked Wang Xiuxiu over, then thrown Su Xiaoxiao to the ground, knocking her out.

The old woman was startled, not expecting the girl to be so fragile, fainting imdiately after the fall.

Wang Xiuxiu had been beaten many tis before without fainting; the wretched girl was tough.

"She fell on her own, it has nothing to do with ."

Seeing people gathering around, she quickly got off Su Xiaoxiao.

In her panic, she stepped on Su Xiaoxiao’s hand, causing her mouth to twitch in pain, but she held it in.

Damn, this old hag really steps hard.

The crowd began to point and gossip.

"Good grief, killing soone on the street? This old woman is ruthless!"

"Indeed, hitting a young girl so hard!"

"Wow, isn’t that soone from our village? Why’s she committing murder?"

Hearing the murmurs around her, the old woman’s mind buzzed. Murder? She just lightly strangled the girl, how was that murder?

Feeling desperate, her first instinct was to run.

But as soon as she turned, she saw several officers in front of her. Her legs went weak, and she stamred, "P-Police officers, let explain... I didn’t kill anyone, it was this damn girl..."

Before she could finish, the middle-aged lead officer interrupted with a stern face, "Any explanations can be made at the station, take her away!"

The officers had witnessed the old woman’s violent actions, clearly marking her as a society’s criminal elent. One look at her powerful strike showed this wasn’t her first ti.

anwhile, Su Xiaoxiao was helped up by two officers and taken to the nearest hospital.

An hour later, she woke up in the hospital room to see Wang Xiuxiu, full of worry, by her side.

Seeing her awake, Wang Xiuxiu rushed forward: "Comrade, are you okay? Does your head still hurt? The doctor says you have a concussion and need rest."

Su Xiaoxiao touched her nose, looking slightly embarrassed. She was faking it; there was no concussion, she had just accidentally fallen asleep.

"How’s the old woman?"

She asked her pressing question, while slyly wiping the drool from her mouth. She had dread of tearing into a big chicken leg, and drool had indeed flowed, damaging her image.

Wang Xiuxiu quickly recounted the events. The old woman was detained for human trafficking and intentional harm, and the young n involved in purchasing Wang Xiuxiu were now key fugitives listed by the police.

However, because they only had rough descriptions, the police hadn’t apprehended them yet.

Hearing this, Su Xiaoxiao imdiately perked up: "Xiuxiu, could you find so paper and a pen?"

Wang Xiuxiu didn’t know what she wanted but obediently went out to borrow paper and a pen.
