Chapter 547: Chapter 547: You Got Lucky_1 Chapter 547: Chapter 547: You Got Lucky_1 “Impossible, right? It mustn’t be true?” Tu Lou’s voice broke with a sob, “You… you must be joking. How could Major General Huo Dongfeng be dead? That joke is too much.”

“It’s true!” Huo Beijiang cast his eyes downward. His deep eyelashes hid his turbulent yet restrained emotions. His voice was terrifyingly calm!

“The funeral just ended, and I ca here imdiately after,” he lightly tapped on Tu Lou’s desk, “your brother even went back to attend the funeral!”

This sparked a sudden urge in Tu Lou to puml his brother. This could not stand; he had to deal with it. His brother knew everything but did not tell him when he returned to the Imperial City to attend the funeral. It was too outrageous. He was ready to cut off ties with Tu Cheng.

“What exactly happened? What happened to Huo Dongfeng?” Tu Lou was utterly bewildered.

“It’s fine! It’s over now.”

Huo Beijiang’s calmness was infuriating Tu Lou, “Huo Beijiang, do you even consider a friend?”

“Not really!”

Tu Lou: “…”

Very typical, sarcastic, Huo Beijiang.

“I have a question.”

“Shoot.”

“Has my wife been looking for ?”

“What?” The topic was too sudden, and Tu Lou was montarily stunned. “Your wife? I have no idea!”

Huo Beijiang rubbed his chin, “Exactly!” He had always admired Li Chi for his great courage to undertake everything. Yet he had the audacity to deceive him. He lived up to his admiration indeed!

“Help find out where Jiang Nanfei is now.”

“I…”

“Tell the address later.”

“Fine!” Tu Lou, dejected, murmured an agreent, before standing up to make a phone call to his father.

He initially thought Huo Beijiang had significantly changed, but his true nature was revealed with this turn of events. Only Huo Beijiang would shalessly ask others to find his wife. Furthermore, he continued to defa Tu Cheng in Tu Lou’s presence.

Inside the interrogation room, Li Chi’s hands were tied. Lu Jin and Ning Di stood on either side, their expressions stone cold and their gazes unwavering.

Li Chi looked exhausted and said, “Is the captain back? I need to see the captain.”

“The captain doesn’t have ti to see you.”

“I have to apologize in person to the captain.”

“I’m asking you, when the captain left, he gave you the Imperial City’s address and telephone number which were supposed to be passed on to Jiang Nanfei. Did you pass them on?”

“No!” Li Chi’s answer was simple. He knew there were massive risks involved in his actions. If Huo Beijiang were that easy to fool, he wouldn’t have co this far.

“Not only did you not pass the information to Jiang Nanfei, but you also gave it to Shi Ying, didn’t you?” Lu Jin was infuriated just thinking about it.

The boss had not heard a word from his wife for half a year and was in great pain. Seeing this daily was extrely upsetting. At first, they were living on the edge of life and death. In addition, the boss felt that his wife no longer loved him and would mumble about his wife all day.

Later…later, Huo Dongfeng passed away.

The boss stopped ntioning his wife from then onwards.

He feared that the boss might not return this ti. If the boss didn’t return and Jiang Nanfei didn’t look for him, what was to be done?

“Enough, Little Deer, stop!” Ning Di, who had been silent, suddenly interjected, “The matter between the boss and his sister-in-law has nothing to do with him.”

“How does it have nothing to do with him?” Lu Jin snapped.

“The boss just wanted to reassure his sister-in-law by giving Li Chi the information to pass on!” Ning Di frowned in discontent, “Stop ddling in the boss’s matters! He knows what he’s doing.”

Lu Jin delivered a punch, huffed coldly and said, “Consider yourself lucky!”

Li Chi grunted, biting his teeth to bear the pain.

Before long, the door was opened from the outside, casting light onto the tall and upright figure that walked in.

Huo Beijiang gestured, “Wait for outside!”

“Yes!”

Huo Beijiang walked over to Li Chi, looked down upon him nonchalantly, and silently observed him for a while.

Despite Li Chi’s strong ntal fortitude, he felt a chill run down his spine under Huo Beijiang’s stare.

“Captain!” Unable to hold on any longer, Li Chi finally said, “I apologize! I have betrayed you…”

Huo Beijiang signaled him to stop speaking, “I wouldn’t say it’s a betrayal.”

Li Chi was taken aback, not expecting the notoriously vengeful Great Devil to say that he hadn’t betrayed him. Little did he know he was prepared for the worst.

“After all, this is personal. You rely didn’t do as you were told.” Huo Beijiang spoke carelessly. “You like Shi Ying? Is that why you didn’t pass on the ssage?”

Li Chi’s face changed color several tis before he softly nodded. “Hmm! But I didn’t give the things to Shi Ying either.” He was hardly noble enough to willingly send the woman he liked into the arms of another man.

Shi Ying had tried to find him several tis, but he concealed the fact that he had the address.

“Did you know how I figured it out?” Before Li Chi could answer, Huo Beijiang continued, “I found out when I was preparing to transfer you to the north for a background investigation.”

Li Chi’s face drastically changed, his face drained of color, his eyes bulging in disbelief.

When Huo Beijiang left, he only took Ning Di and five others with him. These five were the ones he had initially brought from the Imperial City, so it made sense for him to take these people when he left. He thought he wouldn’t have a chance, and he never dread that he would get this opportunity.

An opportunity that felt like soaring into the sky.

Though Li Chi’s performance had always been outstanding, his cunning and ruthless nature had never won the favor of the leadership. Huo Beijiang, however, was the first to appreciate and indulge him. For soone like him, following the right leader was the key to a bright future.

Li Chi understood this very well.

So, when Huo Beijiang proposed to transfer him to Snow Eagle, he readily agreed without a second thought. However, not long after he arrived, Huo Beijiang left him behind and only took his own people away.

Li Chi was profoundly disappointed. Therefore, when Huo Beijiang asked him to pass on the ssage and the items, he uncharacteristically decided to hold onto them.

On one hand, there was Shi Ying, on the other, the disappointnt caused by Huo Beijiang leaving him behind played a part.

Nevertheless… now he was saying that Li Chi too was ant to leave with him?

Huo Beijiang’s expression suddenly darkened. He grabbed Li Chi by the throat and lifted him into the air. “Tell , how can I trust soone like you?

“Captain, I’m sorry! I dare not, I dare not do it again.” Li Chi, who was defiant just monts ago, was now close to tears, “Beat up! Take it out on .”

“Too late!” Huo Beijiang let go of him.

“Then I’ll find Jiang Nanfei and explain. She ca to the unit looking for you, and I believe she will listen to if I explain.”

“No need! Reflect on your actions here for a few more days.”
