Chapter 244: Chapter 244: I am_1 Chapter 244: Chapter 244: I am_1 Huo Beijiang looked at her helplessly, his eyes clearly begging, ‘Ah! What a difficult little wife to appease. Oh well, as a man, I must take care of her a little more.’
Nan Fei’s cheeks turned a rosy pink out of annoyance. She closed the door with a snap from inside, and locked it.
Looking at the closed door, the relaxed expression on Huo Beijiang’s face gradually disappeared, replaced by a worry. He pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, but then rembered that he was in a hospital and decided to go outside instead.
As he passed the nurse’s station, the intern nurse, who had given his wife several injections, was dozing off with her head on the desk. Huo Beijiang rapped his knuckles heavily on the desk.
The sound startled the intern nurse awake, springing up in shock to look at him.
“H-…Hello!”
“No sleeping during your shift.”
Shafaced, the intern nurse lowered her head, “I’m sorry! I…I promise I won’t sleep.” She had already worked a full day shift, but since Sister Minmin had gone ho, she had to cover the night shift.
“Pay more attention to the person in room 210, got it?” His face showed no emotion, his eyes cold and indifferent.
The intern nurse trembled with fear, nodding incessantly. Goodness! This man was intimidating! Those eyes were terrifying.
Huo Beijiang’s eyes scanned over her na tag, “Sun Lu, I’ve rembered your na. If the nursing isn’t up to par, I’ll complain about you.” This hospital is really too rubbish. The nurses don’t do their jobs properly during the day, get into fights,
and the night shift sneaks around to sleep.
If he had known, he wouldn’t have let his wife stay here.
Huo Beijiang was incredibly regretful.
Sun Lu was on the verge of tears, “Please don’t report , I promise I won’t do it again.”
Huo Beijiang’s brow furrowed in impatience. If he weren’t going out for a bit, he wouldn’t have left his wife under soone else’s care!

Just outside the hospital’s main entrance was a small park, specifically designed for inpatients to stroll in. Most of the lights in the park were broken and no one bothered to repair them. Only a single light was flickering on and off, persisting on its own.
Huo Beijiang spotted a glowing cigarette end on a park bench from afar.
He strode over, startling Ying Jiuming, who was smoking on the bench.
“Why do you walk without making a sound?”
“Have you ever heard of a special forces soldier who makes a noise when he walks?” Huo Beijiang retorted irritably, “You would be dead before they even arrive.” He sat down on the bench next to Jiuming.
“Give one of your cigarettes.”
“Have you ever seen a soldier in active duty who smokes?” Ying Jiuming threw his words back at him.
“Dammit!”
Ying Jiuming: “…” Okay, you’re tough, can we move on?
Resigned, he handed over both his cigarettes and lighter to Huo Beijiang. This guy was not easy to please and he reckoned it was better to just indulge him.
“Weren’t you always disgusted by my cigarettes? What happened to yours? Why aren’t you smoking them?”
“Too crappy!”
“What?” Ying Jiuming was sure he misheard. “Stop ssing around, you’ve always only smoked high-quality ones.” Although this guy didn’t smoke much, the stuff he smoked was damn expensive.
So expensive that their political officer couldn’t stand it and contemplated arresting him, while also investigating an unaccounted inco source.
“Don’t tell you’re scared of your political officer now, that’s impossible!” After guessing, he jokingly added, “Don’t tell you’re starting to live frugally now?”
“Get lost!” Huo Beijiang took a puff before replying, “I am going to beco a husband soon, do I not need to hand over my paycheck?”
“…” He must have heard wrong.
