"Hm!" Yu Fengji nodded, "Were you all just discussing outside my office about how I’m feeling?"
"Pretty much!" The second team leader said, "Everyone’s worried about you, you haven’t had a rest in ages. How about going ho for a shower and a nap?"
"Alright." Yu Fengji was indeed exhausted; ever since returning from the hospital, all he could think about was Xin Wu, and he couldn’t focus on work. "I’ll leave liaising with the Special Action Departnt to you."
"What about Ding ichen? She’s still in the internal prison of the Special Action Departnt. I’ve gone there with people several tis but couldn’t get her out. Even though Huo Beijiang has spoken this ti, I feel uncertain!"
Yu Fengji stood up, picked up his police uniform from the coat rack, and said, "We’ll give it a couple more days, but you still need to go ask; it’s a matter of stance." Everyone actually knew that it wasn’t the Special Action Departnt refusing to release her, but rather Huo Beijiang, Yin Nan, and Su Hai.
These people won’t rest until they’ve vented their anger.
The second team leader gestured as if choking.
"They won’t, they know their limits."
"That’s good! You haven’t had lunch, rember to grab sothing outside, the cafeteria probably doesn’t have much left." The second team leader was relieved, then suddenly reminded, "I heard your wife is going abroad, is that true?"
Yu Fengji paused at the door, half turning his body, looking at the second team leader with an icy gaze.
"It’s Fu Xinwu, Fu Xinwu, my slip." The second team leader quickly corrected himself, having inadvertently used the nickna everyone called her in private.
But he was genuinely concerned about Commander Yu, worried that Fu Xinwu might really go abroad, leaving their leader alone.
"Commander Yu, Fu Xinwu isn’t really going abroad, right?"
Yu Fengji pursed his lips, nodded expressionlessly.
"Really?" The second team leader’s eyes widened. So that’s why the boss is upset? It could only be about Fu Xinwu; no one else could hurt him like she could. This realization made the second team leader’s temper flare, "How many years is she going for?"
"Seven or eight years."
"What? Seven or eight years?" The second team leader shouted loudly enough for those outside to possibly hear, then hurriedly lowered his voice, "How old are you now? And she’s expecting you to wait for seven or eight years? Does she want you to marry at forty?"
"Am I very old?"
"Nonsense, you’re not old at all." If twenty-six is considered old, then they would be ancient! "That’s not the point, the point is she’s going abroad for seven or eight years!"
A self-mocking expression appeared on Yu Fengji’s handso face, "She never asked to wait for her!"
"Do you an that if she asked, you’d wait for her, just like that?" The second team leader looked at Yu Fengji with wide eyes, as if seeing him for the first ti.
Yu Fengji said nothing, shrugged, and walked away.
He’d waited for so many years, waiting another seven or eight wouldn’t matter! The sad part was, Xin Wu never gave him the chance to wait. Yu Fengji actually felt a bit lucky that Huo Beijiang interrupted today, because he already anticipated Xin Wu’s answer.
He always knew, but still couldn’t let go even though he spoke up.
Yu Fengji felt like he was obsessed; after all these years, the longer ti passed, the harder it was to let go...
