She shook her head, "The doctor didn’t say it could be restored."

Grandpa Jiang showed an expression of ’as expected’. His wife and daughter-in-law didn’t notice, but he could see it from Jiang Yang’s worry. Recently, when playing chess, his grandson would often look at Nan Fei’s eyes, which didn’t seem normal.

Grandpa Jiang sighed and looked down to see Jiang Yang’s pawn had already crossed the river, causing him to rock backward in anger. He glared at Jiang Yang, who made a pleading gesture, which prompted a cold snort before continuing to say, "You should go back to the Imperial City!"

He could see what the situation in the family was now. He had clearly notified De Chun to co back and have a look, as Nan Fei and Jiang Yang had returned. But De Chun kept making excuses about being busy and never ca back even once. Isn’t the attitude already clear?

As for his wife and daughter-in-law... Grandpa Jiang couldn’t even be bothered to speak. No matter how well they take care of each other, it’s aningless if there’s no genuine affection!

"Actually, you don’t need to worry about the family anymore. We have money now, and life is vastly different from before. Don’t listen to the gossip from the villagers; they are just jealous, jealous that our family has money. Why doesn’t the town and county governnt say anything? Our family is now a major taxpayer, and no one will really give us trouble."

Grandpa Jiang said these things hoping his granddaughter could rest assured, to avoid worrying like she did in the past.

This family isn’t worth all that effort from her.

"Grandpa..." Nan Fei’s eyes brimd with tears.

Jiang Yang gripped the chess piece in his hand tightly, his gaze revealing a hint of severity. He never expected that the situation would be like this after returning ho, and it also fueled his anger. If it weren’t for the fear of upsetting Sister Nan Fei, he would have already exploded.

He wouldn’t have stayed peacefully for so long otherwise.

"You’ve already done a lot." Grandpa Jiang sighed, "Don’t be sad, girl, go back! I’ve heard that Huo Beijiang treats you well and has always wanted to marry you. I’ve decided; you have my consent to marry him. Follow him and live a good life from now on."

Nan Fei nodded and then shook her head, crying uncontrollably, but bit her lip to stop herself from making a sound. She quickly wiped away her tears, trying to compose herself as soon as possible.

It had been a long ti since she cried; she hadn’t cried despite the hardships before, so how could she cry now!

"Thank you, Grandpa."

Grandpa Jiang couldn’t help but chuckle, "I knew you liked the boy, and I think he’s a good choice too. He is responsible, and you’ll have no worries marrying him."

"Grandpa, let do two more things for the family. Once I’m done, I’ll go back to the Imperial City." Nan Fei had made up her mind; after finishing the last two things, she would have no regrets.

"Alright!" Grandpa Jiang didn’t insist, realizing he was about to lose again, putting down the chess piece. He called towards the kitchen: "Old woman, is the al ready? Can we eat yet?"

Guan Rufang ca out of the kitchen, casting a complicated glance at Nan Fei, and replied with a hint of annoyance, "Didn’t we just have breakfast? Why is it ti for lunch already?"

"I didn’t eat enough at breakfast! Hurry up and make lunch earlier."

"Got it." Guan Rufang responded, calling out to Nan Fei, "Nan Fei, co here."

Nan Fei got up and walked over, saying nothing, but the feeling of detachnt in her heart grew stronger. If it had been before, Grandma would never have called her over when she was completely blind.

Though her hearing was good, she tried so hard to act like a normal person, but a normal person could never truly understand the feeling of living in a world of darkness. She recalled that in Kannaya, wherever she wanted to go, Bei Jiang would carry her.
