Nan Fei keenly sensed Jiang Hui’s gaze and turned around in the direction of the sound to give Jiang Hui a friendly smile. Although she’s soone who holds grudges, she wouldn’t hold a grudge against a child. Jiang Hui was quite annoying when he was young, but as long as he is willing to change, she can give him a chance.
Jiang Hui was overjoyed to receive Nan Fei’s friendly smile.
"Alright! Everyone, don’t just stand at the door, hurry inside and sit down," Grandpa Jiang warmly invited. "You haven’t had lunch yet, have you? Old lady, hurry and make so food."
The happiest person was undoubtedly Zhang Fengi, who imdiately said upon hearing about cooking, "I’ll do it. It’s rare for Nan Fei and Jiang Yang to co back. I’ll show off my skills and make so delicious food."
"Thank you, Mom, for your hard work."
"Thank you, Mom," Jiang Yang imdiately echoed after hearing Nan Fei’s words.
"It’s no trouble, it’s no trouble," Zhang Fengi hurried into the kitchen.
The Jiang Family’s house was later renovated and is now much more spacious and brighter than before. Previously, Grandpa and Grandma lived in the back, with the two families separated. During the renovation, everything was opened up, resulting in two beautiful small Western-style houses plus a large yard.
Due to being busy at the factory, Jiang Dechun stayed at the factory, and Zhang Fengi rarely ca back, occasionally returning to eat together. It was only after an incident happened that Zhang Fengi couldn’t bear to leave the old couple at ho alone, fearing sothing like what happened to Jiang ili might happen again, so she spent most of her ti at ho.
The dining room had just been ssed up by Liu Yongxia, and after greeting everyone to sit in the main room, Guan Rufang hurriedly cleaned up the dining area.
Grandpa Jiang sat in the living room greeting everyone, and Little Wang and the driver felt quite uncomfortable. The two of them ca mainly to take care of and protect Jiang Yang, but now they were being treated as honored guests by the Jiang Family, and having just seen such a spectacle made it all the more awkward.
"You guys chat first, we’ll go out for a smoke," Little Wang said, knowing the family had things to discuss among themselves, and he and the driver excused themselves. They also planned to stroll around the village, check out the surroundings, and understand the situation.
Once they left, Guan Rufang stared sharply at Nan Fei, "What’s wrong with your eyes? Tell ."
No sooner had she spoken than Zhang Fengi also erged from the kitchen; it was clear she had noticed it earlier at the door.
Nan Fei smiled wryly as Jiang Yang, sitting beside her, held her hand tightly, his face pale.
"Can’t see? Or what?" Zhang Fengi’s voice trembled as she asked, "Why didn’t you ntion it over the phone? You child..." she trailed off, beginning to cry.
Over the past half year, so many things had happened—one child quietly returned to their biological parents, and another was imprisoned. As a mother, her heart felt as if it were being cut with a knife, and she didn’t know how many tis she had cried in private.
Just when she thought everything was alright, to find out Nan Fei was also in trouble was too much of a blow for Zhang Fengi, causing her vision to darken in waves.
"Mom, don’t worry, it’s nothing," Nan Fei was startled to see her reaction. The reason she didn’t ntion it over the phone was that she feared her mother wouldn’t be able to handle the shock, leading to wild thoughts. "This is temporary; the doctor said it needs ti to heal and will be fine soon."
"Really?" Zhang Fengi feared her daughter was saying this just to comfort her.
"Of course, it’s true. Don’t you trust what I say? Mom, I wouldn’t lie to you. Besides, if my eyesight can’t really recover, wouldn’t I be the first to panic?" Nan Fei spoke clearly and logically, "I’d definitely not be able to smile."
