"Don’t stop . Lu Jin, I dare you. If you dare to have soone take away, watch out, I’ll show you no rcy." Ding Jiaqi scread as if deeply insulted, losing control: "You can’t treat like this! I haven’t done anything wrong. Let go—now, let go!"
Lu Jin had never known that a woman’s voice could pierce so sharply, nearly stabbing through his eardrums. His face turned pale, fearing it would disturb the person resting inside.
"Hurry up! Knock her out for !" Lu Jin glared fiercely at Ding Jiaqi, and just as he was about to handle it himself, she darted behind Xing Yu.
"Hmph! You’re all bad people." Ding Jiaqi poked her head out from behind Xing Yu and made a face at Lu Jin. Seeing no one could catch her, she finally sighed in relief, pretending to be generous as she said, "But we won’t stoop to your level. I’m magnanimous enough to let it slide."
Xing Yu gave Lu Jin a disdainful look, his eyes practically screaming, "That’s your boss? His taste must be terrible, huh? Passing over Jiang Nanfei for soone like this?"
Lu Jin felt wronged. Lu Jin felt bitter.
Nan Fei, sleeping in Huo Beijiang’s arms, stirred at even the slightest sound. She moved slightly and slowly opened her eyes, only to find herself still enveloped in darkness. It was only then she beca fully aware that she couldn’t see at all.
The mont Nan Fei moved, Huo Beijiang woke up too. He instinctively held her even tighter.
"Let go." Nan Fei pushed him angrily and said with a cold laugh, "Ding Jiaqi is outside making a fuss trying to find you! Go deal with her before she gets bullied."
Huo Beijiang pressed his lips together and planted a domineering kiss on hers before saying, "Are you jealous?"
"You bastard! Stop kissing ." Nan Fei was genuinely enraged.
She disliked Huo Beijiang’s attitude, and she hated how he forced her without even offering an explanation.
"Huo Beijiang, I beg you, stop this!" Nan Fei’s tone was riddled with rejection and helplessness, "This won’t solve the issues between us. So things happened—they just did. You can’t pretend not to know, or go back to the way things were, and expect everything to magically disappear. It’s right there in front of us—a barrier that’s already ford, and can it even be removed?"
If Nan Fei could see, she would have realized that Huo Beijiang’s gaze at this mont was so deep and intense that it was suffocating. If she could see, she would know that he was far from indifferent or trying to gloss over the situation, as she imagined.
He was so cautious. His eyes were heartbreakingly tender.
He was undeniably jealous, watching with his own eyes as two young and talented n were willing to risk everything for her. His heart was nearly consud by the flas of envy. Yet he still restrained himself, suppressed it, and went to great lengths to save her.
Why?
Because he loved her. For her, he was willing to give up everything.
Nothing was more important than her existence. As long as she was safe and well, what did rivals matter? What did jealousy matter?
The suffocating tension filled the Kannaya Royal Family-thed bedroom, making the originally spacious room feel claustrophobic. Nan Fei rolled over, turned her back to Huo Beijiang, and got out of bed, fumbling around to find her outer clothes to put on.
But she wasn’t the one who had taken off her clothes, and after searching for a long ti, she couldn’t find them. The man beside her had been silent since earlier, his breathing and heartbeat eerily calm. This made Nan Fei unable to make even the most basic judgnts.
