Chapter 1515: Chapter 1534: Riot
“Second Brother, you have to put in a good word for ,” Burbank was on the verge of tears. “And Ding Jiaqi—it’s all her fault. If it weren’t for her, we would’ve caught the man long ago. Now she’s relying on you to back her up, ddling everywhere, trampling all over our rules here.”
“Little Deer, go warn Ding Jiaqi. If she sticks her nose into things again, tell her to get lost.”
“Yes, Boss.”
“Then I’ll go verify if there are any Eastern won here.” Burbank was about to sneak off, but suddenly chaos erupted in the prisoner camp below. Large-scale disturbances of this sort happened almost every day and were usually quelled with brute force.
No matter how large the rebellion, the typical response was always to open fire with machine guns. This practice had been a longstanding rule within the Kaka Military Group.
Burbank didn’t think much of it, yet it drew a stark reaction from Huo Beijiang, Lu Jin, and Lin Yizhong, whose faces instantly changed.
“Who gave the order to open fire?” Huo Beijiang roared, almost hysterical, yelling into the intercom, “Stop shooting imdiately! No one is allowed to fire!”
His command was swift, and the machine gunners ceased fire just as quickly. But the people falling inside the barbed-wire enclosure were even faster. No number of lives could withstand the onslaught of dozens of machine guns; within less than a minute, bodies blanketed the floor. The survivors either hid in the corners or lay soaked in blood.
Veins bulged on Huo Beijiang’s forehead, and his handso face turned ashen with fury. He grabbed Burbank’s collar and hoisted him into the air. Fire blazed in his striking eyes, akin to a wild beast ready to tear soone apart.
“Did I not order a ban on shooting at civilians?”
“I’m sorry, Second Brother, I… I didn’t expect this.” The prisoner camp had always detained captives, so executing them by gunfire never raised concerns—they were already deed as good as dead. This ti, his frustration with Ding Jiaqi had led him to mix civilians into the prisoner camp.
He hadn’t anticipated a riot breaking out so quickly.
“Unforgivable!” Huo Beijiang released Burbank’s collar with such force that the man staggered several steps back before barely managing to steady himself.
“I’m sorry!” Burbank apologized, his face flushed with sha.
He knew where Second Brother drew the line. Huo Beijiang was rciless toward enemies, ruthless with rcenaries and scheming politicians. But when it ca to civilians, he strictly upheld his moral bottom line, forbidding anyone to break the rules. The refugee camp at the base had been established solely because of Second Brother’s insistence.
“Go, get the military doctors in there. Also, after thorough verification, transfer all civilians without issues to the refugee camp,” Huo Beijiang clenched his fists tightly, barely suppressing the eruption of his anger.
He was beginning to understand why Kaka’s group always seed on the verge of losing control, growing increasingly harder to manage.
The soldiers standing guard imdiately rushed to carry out the orders.
“Additionally, everyone who fired just now will face military justice. Burbank, you will oversee this personally!” Huo Beijiang commanded in a tone that left no room for refusal.
“Second Brother, this… this might not be a good idea, right?” Burbank stamred hesitantly, “They didn’t know the situation—”
Huo Beijiang cut him off, his voice cold and nacing, “But you knew the situation. Are you prepared to pay for it with your life?” He needed everyone to understand the price of recklessly killing innocents—otherwise, no one would ever learn their lesson.
Then what difference would there be between the Regular Army and the rebels?
Kaka, that bastard—look at what he’s turned the Regular Army into. Truly deserving of his title as the Tyrant.
