Chapter 1465: Chapter 1484: Lingering Doubts
Half-Height Villa—
“What did you say? Jiang Nanfei wants to divorce Huo Beijiang?” Leng Peixi almost thought her ears were malfunctioning, asking again in disbelief, “Have you investigated thoroughly? This can’t be possible.”
That boy is Huo Linong’s son—he’s just as stubborn. Yuan Xueshan was utterly unworthy of him, but Huo Linong was still hopelessly devoted and never once spoke of abandoning her.
So why would Huo Beijiang be the one to bring up divorce now?
“It must be an act he’s putting on for !” She sneered sharply. “Too sly.”
Feng Sha remained silent. Leng Ran glanced at him, inwardly cursing his cunning nature, and was forced to step forward to state: “Aunt, I’m afraid this is real. Using Jiang Nanfei’s illness and safety to threaten Huo Beijiang is unlikely to work.”
Leng Peixi’s complexion darkened, and she asked in a cutting tone: “Have you investigated this? What’s the evidence?”
“Huo Kewei is back. He didn’t find dical experts in M country, and under normal circumstances, he absolutely wouldn’t have returned. If Huo Beijiang truly cared about Jiang Nanfei’s safety, even if our people kidnapped the original expert, he’d have figured out sothing, or started searching for another suitable specialist.”
Leng Peixi’s eyes narrowed, scanning Leng Ran with an oppressive and scrutinizing gaze that forced her to bow her head submissively, acting utterly deferential.
“This alone doesn’t make believe it,” Leng Peixi finally said. “This evidence isn’t valid.”
“There’s more…” Leng Ran hesitated for a mont. In truth, doubts lingered in her heart too. But there were so many pieces of evidence pointing to issues that she reluctantly believed it. Even so, a sense of unease remained.
Sothing about it just felt off.
Nonetheless, if she wanted to collaborate with Jiang Nanfei and use her for escape, she had to do sothing first. No matter what, she needed her aunt to take it seriously. If Jiang Nanfei dared to play tricks or refused to obediently cooperate, she could always claim the matter was fake.
Using this as leverage against Jiang Nanfei would set her mind at ease.
“You said there’s more. What else?”
“Additionally, when Jiang Nanfei and Huo Beijiang got together, their relationship was never approved by the family. It was a sham marriage orchestrated by Huo Beijiang. The family had no knowledge, and now that Huo Beijiang has soone new outside, Jiang Nanfei was enraged and filed for divorce.”
“But they’re in a military marriage—it’s impossible to divorce.” Leng Peixi’s thoughts began to shift. Even though Huo Linong was known for his unwavering fidelity, Bei Jiang’s personality clearly didn’t align with his father’s. Instead, it closely resembled her own. If that were the case, then Bei Jiang’s fickleness would be perfectly fitting.
However, a woman could never manipulate a man with a wandering heart. To a man like that, won were always replaceable—one gone, another arrived; the old fades, while the new cos forth.
This realization made Leng Peixi’s expression twist into sothing grotesque, the notion of Huo Beijiang divorcing Jiang Nanfei appearing even more terrifying.
“Aunt, you may not know, but Jiang Nanfei’s circumstances have significantly changed. Her younger brother has already been taken in by the Wei Family, and with Wei Fangyi backing her, not even ten military marriages would be able to stop the divorce. As long as she wants it, she could finalize the paperwork anyti.”
“Damn it! That wretched old man just refuses to die, doesn’t he?” Leng Peixi, of course, knew of Wei Fangyi and his capability.
