Chapter 1394: Chapter 1413: Unrecognized
Kaka took a deep breath and silently glanced at Huo Beijiang. His expression froze as he t Huo’s worried gaze, and the madness that gripped the depths of his eyes gradually faded.
He gave a wry smile. “You noticed, huh?” He didn’t wait for Huo Beijiang to respond and continued on his own: “Right now, I really want to blow everything up!”
“Doesn’t it sound crazy?”
Huo Beijiang’s face changed color slightly as he nodded, then shook his head, “You still know how to control yourself, that ans there’s still hope.”
He could actually understand Kaka—a person who grew up in a vortex of power, dealing with deceit and bloody violence at every turn. Over ti, even the most normal people would beco overwheld. Kannaya itself was a massive ss; even though a century of civil strife had been quelled, the various hidden dangers and conflicts were still erging without end.
Governing a country is much more complicated than waging war.
“So people call a madman. But even if I am, I would never just hand everything over to Faisal.”
“Don’t worry,” Huo Beijiang said earnestly, patting his shoulder with determination in his eyes.
“Old Second, you’ll help , right?” Kaka placed his hand over Huo Beijiang’s on his shoulder, gripping it tightly with an intensity that belied the vulnerability in his eyes that had never been so apparent.
“Yes!” Huo Beijiang nodded seriously. “Since I’m here, I won’t ignore your plight. If I could capture Faisal once, I could do it a second ti.”
“Heh heh!” Kaka finally let out a pleased laugh, extending his arms to give Huo Beijiang a big hug, “Good brother, thank you.”
“Enough! Cut it out.” Huo Beijiang pushed him away in mock disgust.
Having had no proper rest on the way, soone soon led Huo Beijiang to where he could rest; as he walked out of the main building, he saw Lu Jin approaching him.
“Boss!”
“How did it go? Is everything arranged?”
“They’re temporarily settled near the refugee camp. Lei Hao has replied and is en route here, approximately one week’s travel away.”
“Good!” Huo Beijiang stood in the sun, squinting slightly as he nodded, “Instruct them to be careful on the road. Send them the map and coordinates we used to get here, and contact the fleet to report the situation here.”
“Yes!” Lu Jin hurriedly agreed, then looked at Huo Beijiang with concern, hesitantly asking, “Boss… uh, what about Ding Jiaqi?”
“What Ding Jiaqi?” Huo Beijiang looked puzzled.
“The woman who’s been clinging to you, nad Ding Jiaqi, the dical student we’re supposed to rescue,” Lu Jin almost rolled his eyes.
It seed Ding Jiaqi spent half a day clinging to the boss, and yet the boss didn’t even know her na.
Without even asking why Ding Jiaqi was there, Huo Beijiang simply replied: “Tell her to get lost.”
“But… our superiors have ordered us to ensure Ding Jiaqi’s safety as a key protective asset, under normal circumstances, we should be separating her from the main force for an independent operation.”
In fact, Lu Jin had intended to make this clear earlier, but Ding Jiaqi was too focused on her objective. He only glanced over and deliberately did not ntion it, planning to find an opportunity to explain separately, otherwise, the boss could genuinely decide to completely disregard Ding Jiaqi’s welfare.
If she ended up dead halfway through, it would be troubleso. It’d be difficult to deal with the aftermath and explain to the superiors.
Huo Beijiang furrowed his brow slightly upon hearing this; a chill flashed across his handso face, and he appeared ice-cold.
