Chapter 1241: Chapter 1260: United Front

“I won’t bother you anymore. It’s almost Christmas, and it happens to be my birthday. I hope you can co to the party,” she said, pulling out a beautifully crafted birthday party invitation from her bag and placing it on the armrest of the sofa.

“Thank you! I will definitely co.” Nan Fei had decided to keep her distance from Leng Ran since last ti, but relationships required give and take. After she was hospitalized, Leng Ran personally visited her, and having received the invitation, she really couldn’t refuse.

“I should be going now,” Leng Ran said with a smile, waving her hand. As she passed by Zhuanzhuan, their eyes t briefly, and she left a aningful smile by curling the corners of her mouth.

“Oh!” Leng Ran stopped suddenly at the door, “Nan Fei, if Major General Huo has ti, please ask him to co with you!”

“Okay!” Nan Fei responded, her expression unchanged.

“Goodbye!” Leng Ran said with a smile and left. As soon as she stepped out of the villa’s gate, her smile imdiately turned cold, her expression murky and indecipherable.

Shi Cin, who was waiting at the door, imdiately ca forward to greet her. “What happened? Did it not go well?”

“Not at all,” Leng Ran nodded, her fists slowly clenching. “Jiang Nanfei is unbearable. She’s treating like what? So guarded to this extent.” She had once struggled and hesitated because of her, yet Nan Fei had never considered her a friend.

Leng Ran gritted her teeth. “Auntie was right; the only person you can rely on is yourself.”

Shi Cin, observing how Leng Ran ca out alone while Nan Fei, the hostess, didn’t even see her out, truly felt that Nan Fei was very repulsive.

“What about Jiang Zhuanzhuan? Have the sisters turned against each other?”

“Hmph!” Leng Ran scoffed. “Jiang Nanfei is even guarding against an old classmate like , she must be guarding against Jiang Zhuanzhuan too. Just watch! These two will turn against each other sooner or later; it’s just a matter of ti.”

Shi Cin nodded thoughtfully, then worriedly said, “Then your mission will fail. The chances of the mistress persuading Jiang Nanfei to work for her are too slim.”

Nan Fei was thought to be a simpleton from a small place who could be easily bribed into begging on her knees. But she turned out to be tough, with deep thoughts and high defensiveness, not at all seeming like she was only nineteen.

After several encounters, had it not been for her age, one might have thought she was an old hand.

The Leng Family’s proud financial capital seed of little use here. A girl from a small place turned out to be wealthy and well-connected, now even a renowned painter. With these statuses, even kidnapping was not an option.

“I’ll go back and report to auntie.” Leng Ran was still upset about what happened inside; Jiang Nanfei and Jiang Zhuanzhuan clearly had a strained relationship, but they united against her. The feeling was truly unpleasant.

It seed that her plan to use Jiang Nanfei against Jiang Zhuanzhuan was unfeasible.

“By the way, do you know why Jiang Nanfei was hospitalized yesterday?” Leng Ran suddenly rembered; she had been unaware of the specifics of Nan Fei’s illness. No wonder sothing felt off before.

“I don’t know; she went to the military hospital, and her records are not open to the public.”

“Not open to the public?” Leng Ran incredulously repeated. “Jiang Nanfei is at most a military academy student, she shouldn’t have a security clearance, right?”

“Indeed not,” Shi Cin suddenly realized sothing was amiss. “Shall I look into it?”

“Go investigate. Make sure you find out everything, no matter the cost.” She felt there must be so secret involved.

“Okay!”
