Chapter 1163: Chapter 1162: Request

“Day after tomorrow…” Jiang Yang muttered in disappointnt, but he quickly composed himself and said calmly, “I understand.” Then he hung up the phone directly.

Huo Beijiang held the disconnected phone, listening to the dial tone, a solemn expression crossing his handso face.

He always felt that his brother-in-law’s phone call was unusual.

“What’s wrong, boss?” Lu Jin asked with concern.

“It’s nothing, I’m going to the police station.” He decided to go check on his brother-in-law.

“Okay!”

After Jiang Yang hung up the phone, he zoned out as usual. If nobody initiated a conversation with him, he could remain silent indefinitely. Initially, people were unaware of the situation, but as they learned more, they would actively engage him in conversation.

Everyone was astute, maintaining just the right balance so as not to bore Jiang Yang or to intrude on him.

As Jiang Yang was zoning out, soone suddenly stood in front of his desk and tapped on it several tis with their fingers, producing a crisp, rhythmic sound.

“Spacing out again?” Yu Fengji raised an eyebrow, looking at Jiang Yang with full admiration.

Jiang Yang lazily lifted his head to glance at him before quickly lowering his eyes again, remaining silent.

Yu Fengji pulled up a chair and sat down, asking the office clerk, “Xiao He, where’s your team leader?”

“The team leader is out on duty. Commander Yu, when did you get back?” Clerk Xiao He didn’t expect Yu Fengji to visit their Ninth Unit, considering it had been nearly two years since she was assigned here and Yu Fengji had never visited the unit before.

“Did you co back from a business trip?”

“Yes!” Yu Fengji nodded. He had left with Wei Qin to help him locate soone, and now that they had uncovered all the necessary leads, the subsequent work was relatively straightforward, requiring only verification of the amassed clues.

He had been stretched thin and returned imdiately after wrapping things up in Sui County.

Clerk Xiao He knew Yu Fengji was there to find Jiang Yang and smiled, saying, “Jiang Yang has been a great help to us recently. I heard that the Chief wants to hire him as a consultant for us.”

“Yes!” Yu Fengji responded indifferently. He had just visited the Chief’s office and was already aware of everything that had happened recently.

He had always known that Jiang Yang was intelligent, but he hadn’t expected him to be this clever.

It was truly unexpected, the last ti soone surprised him this much was Wei Qin. But Wei Qin’s achievents were now beyond their reach.

Yu Fengji had a feeling that Jiang Yang’s talents extended far beyond just solving cases.

Transferring Wei Qin to the police force would be a total waste of talent. With Jiang Yang now, he felt the sa intuition; hence, he had directly declined the Chief’s assignnt to persuade Jiang Yang to beco a consultant when he was in the Chief’s office.

“What’s wrong?” Yu Fengji brought his wandering thoughts back and focused on Jiang Yang. “You seem rather anxious.”

A detective’s intuition told him there was sothing amiss with Jiang Yang.

“If there’s sothing, you can tell directly.”

Jiang Yang lifted his gaze, his dark eyes steadily eting Yu Fengji’s. “How is the investigation into the Leng Family going?”

Yu Fengji had not expected him to suddenly ask about that. “The Leng Family’s influence is deep-rooted and intertwined; it’s not easy to totally clarify at once.”

Jiang Yang pursed his lips, clearly dissatisfied with the response.

“May I join the investigation?”
