Ning Ge escorted Cheng Su to the hotel she had booked and said, "Actually, our old man said you should stay at our place, insisting on some hotel!"
"Mind your own business, I just love the freedom of hotels!" Cheng Su glanced around her temporary residence and said, "Especially in a star-rated hotel like this. One day, I’ll open one myself."
"Got it all planned out? Cheng Yaozu said you sold the land your godfather gave you and bought a bigger plot, all in the name of opening a hotel? Why not join us in real estate?" Ning Ge suggested.
"No, I just want to open a star-rated hotel." Cheng Su’s eyes lit up, "No one will stop me. Real estate, you folks play around. Once you’re rich, e invest in me."
Ning Ge scoffed and dropped the topic, going over the plans for tomorrow with her.
"The shareholder meeting is at ten. Cheng Yaozu will catch the early flight over tomorrow," Ning Ge said, "There’s nothing much today, it’s freezing out. How about we go get some hotpot? It’s quite famous in the capital, a classic brand!"
"Dong Lai Shun!"
"Oh, you know it?" Ning Ge raised an eyebrow.
Cheng Su smiled faintly, memories surfacing again, back when she and Luh Wei used to whimsically fly over just to satisfy their craving for Dong Lai Shun.
Luh Wei...
Cheng Su’s smile slightly faded, would his fate still be the same as in the past life? Are Luh Kai his parents?
No, I absolutely can’t let that happen again; everyone suffered enough before.
"Hey, are you back?" Ning Ge clapped his hands, saying, "What’s up with you today? Acting so mystical, from when we left the airport till now, not really present, eh?"
Cheng Su rolled her eyes, "Can’t I have my unusual times!"
Ning Ge, slightly stung, turned away in disgust, "Both women and petty men are hard to deal with!"
"Get lost!"
"Cursing now, huh?" Ning Ge glared but chose not to provoke her further and said, "How about inviting Zhou Jun for hotpot today? You’ve all worked together for years and never met!"
"Sure, but is he willing?" Cheng Su liked making friends, and Ning Ge’s friend was her friend too.
"He wouldn’t dare refuse. I’d pound him till his teeth are scattered. Alright, why don’t you freshen up first, tidy yourself a bit, and I’ll e pick you up later?" Ning Ge graciously left her some space.
Cheng Su nodded, then, remembering something, called out to him.
"What is it?"
Cheng Su bit her lip and asked, "Any news about that killer?"
Ning Ge pressed his lips together, shaking his head, "Still can’t trace his whereabouts. People like him, they move mysteriously, even listed among the black records. If on a mission, where they die isn’t even clear, and if truly dead, it’d be like disappearing without a trace."
Cheng Su forced a smile, "I see, no worries, I was just asking."
Ning Ge sat back down, interlocked his fingers while looking at her, asking, "Is that person so crucial? Do you really need to find him?"
Do you really need to find him?
Find him, uncover the truth, and then what? Or not know, and let it linger through life?
She didn’t want that, she refused!
"I just want to know the truth!" Cheng Su looked at him, stressing each word, "This truth is very important to me."
It’s just the truth about the child you support. How important can that be? The child isn’t even related to you.
Ning Ge really wanted to ask this but upon seeing Cheng Su’s determined gaze, her persistence, he said, "Alright, I’ll mobilize some contacts, try my best to find him."
Cheng Su nodded, "Thanks. I can wait."
