Since it was decided that the whole family would go to Guangcheng for the New Year, they also had to inform the two younger brothers and younger sister-in-law, so they could make their own plans after the winter break, and not wait in vain at home.
It was a coincidence that Qi Fengping mentioned she would spend some days at a classmate’s hometown in the Northeast during the holiday, while Qi Jianguo planned to do some part-time work at Cheng Yaozu’s place, assisting with tasks in their design department to build a foundation for future employment.
Upon hearing that the family would be in Guangcheng for New Year’s, both said they would report to the house when the time came.
Cheng Su also made a call to Qi Fenglian, to prevent her from visiting relatives and going on a fruitless trip to the old home, suggesting she could e over with the family when free. As for her maternal home, she naturally had to inform them as well.
Meanwhile, Ning Ge called saying there would be a stockholders’ meeting over there, discussing the pany’s development for the ing year. Since he gave Qi Xiaoqi a share, Cheng Su was asked whether she would attend the meeting on Xiaoqi’s behalf since he was still young.
"Are there any projects needing decision-making?" Cheng Su asked, "Can I step in?"
"It’s the first stockholders’ meeting of the year, big sister!" Ning Ge rolled his eyes over the phone.
Cheng Su chuckled, thinking she was almost done with her own matters. She asked him for the meeting time and decided to make time for a trip there.
Going to the Capital meant she’d have to leave Qi Xiaoqi behind. Cheng Su first booked tickets to a nearby city, from where she’d catch a flight to the Capital, thus significantly shortening the journey. Then she informed Qi Xiaoqi and her in-laws about her trip to the Capital.
The in-laws had no objections; Father Qi even patted his chest reassuring her to leave Qi Xiaoqi with them, promising to take good care of him.
Qi Xiaoqi was the only one whose little eyes were full of reluctance.
"This is all for your business, you know." Cheng Su gently poked his cheek with her index finger, saying, "Be good and stay at home with Grandpa, don’t be naughty, or I’ll spank you if I hear plaints when I get back!"
"He won’t be, our Xiaoqi is very well-behaved." Father Qi quickly defended him.
Qi Xiaoqi smugly glanced at her.
Cheng Su stuck her tongue out at him.
Having settled her work and made her arrangements, Cheng Su packed a simple backpack, grabbed her small handbag, and set off for the nearby city’s airport.
She wondered when the Qing City airport would be pleted; once it’s built, traveling anywhere would be much more convenient. She thought that when the time es, Qing City would surely elevate to greater heights.
After a tiring journey, Cheng Su’s flight landed in the Capital at four in the afternoon. As soon as she disembarked, the chill struck her, prompting her to tighten the scarf around her neck instinctively.
It was freezing!
Cheng Su quickly hurried inside, feeling the cold dissipate only after entering the airport. She first went to the restroom, then prepared to head out.
Just as she lifted her foot, she heard a baby crying along with the disdainful murmurs of the crowd.
She looked over and saw a woman with disheveled hair near the luggage carousel, frantically picking up fallen bags, some of which contained baby diapers, while the baby was crying loudly.
Perhaps the baby had pooped; the woman checked the diaper, releasing a terrible smell, causing nearby people to pinch their noses and walk away muttering.
Being a mother herself, Cheng Su saw the struggling woman, who seemed to be a novice, and stepped over to offer assistance.
"Need any help?" Despite the stench, Cheng Su smiled as she asked the woman who was looking down.
"Oh, thank you!" The woman raised her head.
Cheng Su was startled: "It’s you?"
