Father Qi looked at Mother Qi’s righteous expression and got even angrier. He snatched her luggage bag again and stuffed clothes in while saying, "If you’re not leaving, what are you doing here? If you dislike Xiao Qi so much, why are you still here?"
"When did I ever dislike him? I just think this kid is a bit strange." Mother Qi retorted.
Father Qi sneered, "Strange? I don’t think there’s anything strange. The child is fine, smart and clever. If you think he’s strange, that’s just your odd mind thinking everything’s wrong with everyone. So, if your grandson is a monster, what do you want to do? Burn him or invite some gods to exorcise him?"
Mother Qi’s face turned red and white from being pricked, her old face twisted with anger.
"I was just saying, why are you reacting so strongly?" Mother Qi was extremely angry.
"Even saying it is not okay." Father Qi shouted, "When his own grandma says the grandson is a monster, what about others? How would they see him? You crazy woman!"
Mother Qi ground her teeth.
"It’s best that your son doesn’t hear this, or it’ll chill his heart and make him so disappointed in you." Father Qi sneered again, "Go on, keep it up like this, end up like your older sister. I’d like to see you cry without tears."
Mother Qi’s heart trembled, her lips quivered slightly.
"I said you shouldn’t e, yet you insisted, had to bring your own grandchild, and now what? Making trouble out of nothing. Are you determined to keep this family unsettled, find something to stir up because it’s too quiet?" Father Qi seemed a bit disheartened, said, "With your attitude and behavior, even when next year, their wife moves to Guangcheng, you shouldn’t go. Just stay quietly in your hometown to avoid making noise and unsettling the family because of you."
Mother Qi’s face changed color.
"What do you mean by this?" She said through gritted teeth, "Is pushing your wife aside your idea of fortune? You’re living it up out there while I’m alone at home? Aren’t you afraid of retribution from above?"
"Isn’t this all of your own doing?" Father Qi mocked.
Mother Qi’s lips moved slightly.
"I see, I can’t say anything about you. I’ll just sew my mouth shut then." Mother Qi sat down in anger, wiping her tears in grievance.
Father Qi glanced at her and said, "I’ll say it again, if you keep calling Xiao Qi strange or something, we might as well go back. Out of sight, out of mind. Xiao Qi will have someone to take care of him."
"I’m not leaving!" Mother Qi stubbornly said. After a while, she added, "I didn’t say anything, it’s just you making a fuss."
Father Qi snorted, "Then you better mind yourself. It’s best not to let Taiguo hear your words."
Mother Qi pressed her wrinkled lips together.
Outside the door, Cheng Su and Qi Xiaoqi were also whispering.
"Hear that, this is what a real argument sounds like." Cheng Su pointed inside the room.
Qi Xiaoqi frowned and looked at her.
"Did you hear what they said inside?" Cheng Su said again. The words of the two elders were loud enough to be heard outside the door, and these doors didn’t really block sound that well, especially with Father Qi being angry, his voice naturally got louder.
Qi Xiaoqi lowered his head, a bit depressed.
"So, now do you understand what I meant by what I told you before?" Cheng Su said meaningfully, "Sometimes, when we should hide our cleverness, we shouldn’t show it. Some people would find it beyond reason."
"I’m just a kid." Qi Xiaoqi said sulkily.
"Exactly, a kid should just be a normal kid, otherwise people will think it’s strange!" Cheng Su ruffled his hair.
Qi Xiaoqi didn’t say anything.
