Father Qi and the others saw off Qi Taiguo to the car, still waving even when the car had driven a few ters away, Cheng Su saw and leaned out the window to shout, "Dad, go back now, it’s too cold. Co to Qing City when you have ti, and call us if you miss us."

She completely ignored the mother-in-law standing by Father Qi, as if she didn’t exist at all, not even ntioning a word to her.

As the car drove away and his smile still hadn’t faded, this scene was witnessed by the villagers, who ca over to strike up a conversation.

"It’s only the fifth day, and your son and daughter-in-law are leaving already?"

Father Qi explained, "Taiguo has to be on duty tonight, he needs to hurry back, and the daughter-in-law also has to work."

"I see. Hey, Old Man Qi, you’re looking quite sharp in that outfit," the person remarked, eyeing Father Qi’s new clothes with a hint of envy.

Father Qi tugged at the hem of his coat, grinning, "Nice, isn’t it? It’s a gift from my daughter-in-law, cost a pretty penny."

"Your daughter-in-law is really filial towards you, you’re blessed indeed."

"Right, right," Father Qi said, visibly pleased.

Mother Qi couldn’t take it anymore, she tugged at him and snapped, "Let’s go, enough chatter!"

With that, she didn’t wait for him but marched off into the village in a huff.

Father Qi exchanged a few more words with the person before he followed suit.

Mother Qi returned ho feeling dejected, while next door, Granny Pan was taking her grandson out for a stroll. The mont she saw Mother Qi coming back, she hurried over and asked eagerly, "Has your daughter-in-law left?"

Mother Qi frowned and grunted in acknowledgnt.

"Didn’t manage to coax her back? She’s still angry even after coming ho? She left so soon," Granny Pan was very gossipy.

Mother Qi sensed sothing off in her words and questioned, "What do you an angry or not angry? What are you talking about?"

"I’ve heard all about it, they say your eldest sister and your daughter-in-law had a quarrel, and it angered her so much she went back to her parents’ house!" Granny Pan inquired, "What exactly happened?"

The rumor had spread?

Mother Qi was stunned, how could she have picked up no wind of it?

"Who told you that? Who is stirring up trouble during the New Year, spreading others’ private matters?" She demanded vehently.

Mother Qi trembled with rage.

All because of Cheng Su and her fierce temper, a small matter had been blown out of proportion, and she had even gone ho late at night, obviously sothing was amiss.

"Enough!" Mother Qi was so angry she gritted her teeth, "Mind your own family’s business before you ddle in others’!"
