Chapter 509: Seatmate

A/N: Song For The Background 15 step ~ By Radiohead

I stepped closer to the mirror, my hand sliding down my mini-skirt. I added little weight, I wasn’t as skinnier as I was growing up, and even though I stopped physical aging at 17, I looked mature enough for my age now.

Birthdays were no use but at least I was alive to celebrate them, I might as well enjoy the process. My features were more defined than ever and my strawberry blonde hair was darker now, no longer in curls but in soft waves, cascading down my features and reaching the middle of my back.

I set my turtle neck sleeve shirt properly, before instinctively caressing the little silver pendant necklace I wore. It was a ritual each day before I left—the source of peace I needed—the reason I decided to move on.

Snapping out of my cynical state, I grabbed my coat, put it on, and took my bag, stepping out of the room. I was greeted by Tessa.

"Tessa" I gasped.

"Good morning!" she chirped like an early bird and I winced but forced a smile not to seem rude.

"We already saw this morning," I clarified.

"Right, right," she said with a thoughtful expression before pouting her lips. "I need a ride"

"Oh"

~

"Your car is amazing!" Tessa exclaid. "Is this the latest Audi A8?!"

"I guess" I opened the door. "It’s a... gift"

She gave

a knowing look. "I bet you have tons of cars. But I understand your reason to be too flashy i respect that"

"Tessa, no" I shook my head, getting in. She squeaked following suit, I had no idea how I would convince her I was an heiress as she claid, but my situation wasn’t doing a good job of explaining, it just borderline showed I was not selfish.

I started the call and drove out of the dorm district into the bustling compound. "You still haven’t told

your major, I can drop you there, which building"

"Oh let

see your calendar"

Confused, I pulled it out from the compartnt and she quickly scanned through. She grinned at cue. "Well, heiress it seems like we have most classes together"

"Really?" I stared at her briefly before taking my eyes back to the road. I chuckled nervously. I prefer my peace of mind but she seed like a cool person to hang out with if she’s not talking too much.

By the ti we walked to the school premises, I prayed my ears weren’t bleeding already from all the 100 topics we had dived into in a few minutes, she just kept talking so fast and it was hard to keep up, I nodded the whole way, either lost in her line of conservation or engrossed with it.

She spoke more about Wendy along the line which I was interested in, it seed like a good idea to know about the other roommate, we’re all under the sa roof after all.

Her conversation with Wendy wasn’t all rainbows, she was practically complaining about how she never talked to her or how she walked around half-naked even when they had a visitor. I ca weeks late because I had to wrap things up in the shop. I could only imagine the drama before I ca or their thoughts when they were told the top floor was completely rented out.

They must have had many thoughts about . Wendy thought of

as a spoiled brat and Tessa, as an heiress, she didn’t even seem to be repulsed by

because of her assud status. She’s quite friendly, with a bubbly attitude and a mouth that runs faster than my hands tying on my laptop.

"And so Wendy just left her bra hanging, Jesus that girl doesn’t know what decency ans and she ignores

most of the ti, she wasn’t rude to you right?"

I forced a smile only and shook my head. The mont I answer that will escalate another conversation I wasn’t ready for but nope that didn’t stop Tessa from diving into the 101 topic of the day.

"Of she was, she’s annoying, ugh she’s so—"

"Let’s skip gossiping about roommates and focus on getting classes alright?" I checked my watch. "Five minutes more"

This was my first day in class and I needed to stay level-headed. Tessa finally agreed to be quiet and I took my ti to look around in the welcod silence.

The buildings were amazing and gave off that gothic vibe I’d only read about in my fantasy books. They looked pretty old, like sothing that had stood for centuries, and scread of ancient money. On the outside, it was a relic of another ti, but once inside, it was modern, equipped with every facility a student could ever need, blending the old and the new.

It was pretty cool.

This was similar to Night School of course but it was all ancient compared to this place and had a modern touch to it.

Everyone here seed to have a fortune behind them, judging by their clothes and how they carried themselves. It made

more self-aware, realizing how many supernaturals I might have crossed paths with without even knowing it.

"Oh nuts!" Tessa groaned. "I forgot I needed to pick sothing up, save

a seat"

"Sure" I agreed but couldn’t help but think why she didn’t do that the entire ti.

Tessa hurried out like her ass was on fire, I was just amused as she ran down the hall yelling move out, it’s amazing how she could do that in her heels. That’s the next level of athletics right there.

I placed my hands in my coat jacket as I walked to class, it was close by, just by the next turn. The class hall was already half full, it was loud and buzzing. I just made my way to an empty seat and secured a space for Tessa with my bag. Suddenly silence took the hall when the professor stepped in.

Where are you, Tessa?

I grabbed my laptop and a notebook but when I felt my bag move from the seat beside

I turned and found a white-haired guy sitting beside , dropping my bag on the table. He’s super pale too, like he hasn’t seen the sun at birth—a misplaced puzzle.

"That space was kept for my friend," I said trying to sound as polite as I could offer not to be an. My eyes caught a tattoo on his neck, a mandala design probably covering his entire neck. Blinking away from it, I realized he didn’t utter a word and just kept his attention focused on the professor like I didn’t exist or anyone.

"Excuse ?" I pushed, determined to take him off the seat. He just rudely stepped in and I didn’t like that. The ghostly paled guy ignored

further—casually bringing his thumb to scratch the corner of his lip.

Frustration gnawed at , but I forced myself to focus on the professor. I was pissed, but I kept my cool. The entire hall was dead silent, and I knew that trying to get his attention would only draw unwanted eyes my way.

The class went on for hours and I found it hard to concentrate, my notepad stared blankly at , my nerves were unsettled, my mood was off and the need for the class to end quickly was overwhelming. This is why I needed a clear head at the start of the day.

"So that is it for today, further analysis will be welcod on my table," the professor said before grabbing his things and leaving. Everyone else grabbed their things too as did I.

From the corner of my eye, I watched the white-haired guy rise from his seat, moving with a casual, almost lazy grace as he made his way toward the exit. My gaze stayed fixed on him as he passed through the rows of students, his height making him stand out even more. He was freakishly tall, his long strides carrying him out of the room effortlessly.

That was... uncomfortable and I hope it doesn’t happen again.

My phone vibrates as I jolt, before bringing it out from my pockets. It was Grayson.

"Hey," I said, swallowing hard.

"You sound awful," he remarked bluntly.

"You know

too well"

"How is your first day?"

"Just good" I pulled my things into the bag.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah I’m sure and I’m sorry I didn’t reply to your ssage"

"Mom called ," he announced.

I paused as my eyes widened. Oh shit, did she tell him? I sighed, closing my eyes briefly, I wish she didn’t. The last thing I wanted was to dwell on the topic, it happened already, so what if my room was remodeled by you-know-who?

I don’t want to have this talk, I’m already having an annoying day.

"It’s nothing, can we not talk about it? I was just being paranoid"

"Sothing like that doesn’t an you’re paranoid, Em"
