"You can do this," I tried to steady my heavy breathing as best I could but so far so good I wasn’t doing a good job at it. I’m practically unmoving like an idiot and not blinking for over a minute. "It’s now or ever Emma," my nerves skyrocketed and I was on the verge of having a ntal breakdown. Calm down, calm down. I ntally chanted to myself, squeezing my eyes shut.

This is not the end of the world, this is just a step. A huge step, what’s the worst that can happen? I don’t want to jinx it but I needed the boost.

The sudden knock on the car window snapped

out of it with a jolt. I gulped, pressing the button, and the window slid down slowly. The security guard pushed his hand against the window edge, eyes scanning

with quiet suspicion.

"Morning," he said.

"Morning" I squeaked. Shit! I must sound weird. It sounded better in my head than I intended. I should maintain my smile as best as possible. Don’t be weird Emma. First impressions matter before they think you’re so creep.

A minute passed, and I didn’t say a damn word. So much for not being weird—just sitting there, smiling at the man like a complete creep. The awkward silence hung between us, and I could see his expression tighten slightly, probably wondering what my deal was.

He scratched his jawline with little hairs. "Um, you have been here for about 30 minutes? Aren’t you going to drive in? You don’t wanna keep a line"

My eyes turned to the gates, right I ca here on my own accord, why do I feel forced to be here? But I’m not, it’s just the nerves freaking

out. I never imagined I would get to this point but here I am.

"Are you here just for sightseeing? Do you wanna observe from afar?" At least he was considerate, I could tell he knew I was nervous about sothing and not just a certified creep hanging around in front of a gate.

"Actually" I found my voice as I glanced at him. "I’m a student," I said, showing him my ID.

"Oh," realization struck him, and he suddenly appeared apologetic, likely because he had eyed

with suspicion earlier. He cleared his throat "Then, welco. Freshn?"

I nodded.

"Are you ready to go in now?" he narrowed his eyes, grasping my situation.

I turned back to the gates. "I’m not sure" I whispered to myself.

"Well you won’t know until you go in"

"Yeah," I murmured before turning to face him. "I think I’m ready"

"Wish you all the best then" he parted from my car.

I returned a small smile, watching as the glass glided back up. With a deep breath, I steadied myself as the gates began to part.

There’s no turning back now.

I drove through Juneau University gates. It was located in the southeast, in a completely different region, and one of the most prestigious schools. The JU was also built in a scenic area near a lake and the major parts of the tropical forest, providing a peaceful environnt while still being accessible to the city’s conveniences, including shops, restaurants, and other services in downtown Juneau.

I got such an opportunity thanks to Vanessa’s letter of recomndation. She pulled so strings without

knowing, the very day she discussed about

restarting my life and following my dreams. I was able to take so exams and then the rest was history.

However, this school was like Harvard around here and it still struck

as odd that I got in easily. I didn’t put much thought into it because of how excited I was when I got my letter.

The school land is very spacious, it was built on old money by the founding families to improve the education facilities and also for the majority of the supernaturals to feel safe. Yeah, I did my research, and trust

what I found out discreetly from Owen was mind-blowing.

78% of students here were supernaturals.

Thanks to the map installed in my car—as a precaution—I didn’t need to ask for directions, and I got to the dorm vicinity. Driving within the school felt like a drive to the mall. I pondered why such a school wasn’t known to the world, but rembering the 78% told

what I needed. It was kept under wraps.

I was amazed by the view of this place, it felt like I had stepped into a new country, with the trees, old buildings, and everything. It was a breathtaking sight and amazed

how I got in. It was more than I could ever imagine, I knew I would get into college but JU? This was a dream co true for anyone.

I packed my car in a spot, stepped out, and walked to the booth to grab my bags. There were so many so I grabbed a few things and walked to the door. I swiped my card and the door unlocked.

Damn! It’s more luxurious here than the outside, almost like everything was remodeled. I expected sothing more Victorian. The lounge looked like those aesthetics you saw on Pinterest, it was so cozy with everything you needed to relax.

The sofas, and lights, it was beautiful, and a space I could get used to, the size of this place told

I should expect more roommates than I was told.

I heard soft tapping and turned my gaze to find a girl in the corner. Her short, bleached blonde hair was the first thing that caught my eye. It was beautiful.

"Um Hi," I said nervously. I blinked when she ca into view completely, a headset covered her ears, and she wore just black panties and a black shirt that said "Screw off" Well that’s very forward. I finally caught notice of the cigar sticking out of her lips, taking slow drags, and blowing smoke around. The intense sll caused deja vu to overwhelm

but I quickly pushed it aside.

Clearing my throat and raising my gaze, I found her staring back at . We stood there awkwardly for two minutes before she decided it was ti to remove her headset. Her blue eyes drifted to my bags, scanning

from head to toe like she was trying to determine what species I was.

"You’re the one with the entire top floor," she murmured, more to herself than to . "Great, a rich brat," she said directly to my face before turning on her heel and walking away. I blinked, dumbfounded by her abrupt and unexpected response.

First impression of my new roommate. She’s rude. And what did she an by the entire top floor? Rich brat? Geez! it wasn’t even two hours yet and I’m already called nas, was this my reckoning or what?

"Jesus, Wendy, you wanna choke

to death?" A voice ca through followed by intense coughing, I followed the sound to the railing where another girl leaned against it. She had golden blonde hair that reminded

of Grayson’s.

Her brown eyes t mine. "Oh, Hey!" she squealed.

"H-Hi" I blinked, dropping my bag because my wrists hurt from holding them too long.

"Oh my god!" she exclaid before rushing downstairs in a matter of seconds. "You’re, her!" she squealed.

"Her?" I asked, confused.

"Oh sorry, I’m Tessa, your second roomie" she giggled. "Not exactly roomie because you have the whole top floor. I an I never expected that and here you are and that explains it I an look at you the full package there and—"

"Slow down" I stopped her, she talked faster than Tiger Jnr when he’s high on milk. "What do you an the whole top floor? I an we’re ant to be like five in a house right?"

That was what I was told, or did I hear wrong? I was expecting a full house although I wasn’t ga about it because of my isolated personality but I told myself to suck it up and deal with whatever JU offered.

Tessa paused her mouth left ajar before she closed them and ford words "Oh I see they probably made arrangents for you, god I’m so envious" She grabbed my bags "Let

help you with that"

"N-No, really it’s okay," I said following behind her as she climbed the stairs. "You still haven’t answered my question" I hurried up after her because of how fast she was on her feet.

She paused and gave a simple twirl to look at . "When we settled in—we were told by the housekeepers we found cleaning—that the first floor was completely rented out by a special guest"

What? I don’t rember paying for that and was that school appropriate?

"So the first floor is mine?" I said, finding it hard to believe.

"Yeah, what they said, so..." she grinned. "Are you like an heiress or sothing"

"No, just a simple girl," I replied.

"Yeah sure, they always say that" she dropped my bags. "I’m fixing dinner, we all share a kitchen so... want anything?" she offered.

"No, I’m good, thanks. I just need to settle in first"

"Sure sure, have fun" She walked away leaving

to my thoughts.

I swiped my card and the door opened. It opened so that ans this was really mine. I stepped in reluctantly, it was very spacious and I bet my two cents this wasn’t how everything was before, from the king-sized bed, the fireplace, the large window with a view, ceiling top curtains, and empty shelves to keep all my mountain of books I ca with. This was not provided by the school.

It was also like it was remodeled to suit my taste.

So who the heck transford my dorm?
