Chapter 357: Blood Tracks

GRAYSON

~

I’m worried, so worried and the cold sensation hasn’t stopped after wearing three layers of cloth and gloves, I got colder every minute even to the point my teeth were chattering together right now, and it was past winter, this cold I felt is unusual, it had an eerily feeling I didn’t like, like a dark lifeless cloud was hung over

from above and raining the ocean water down on my skin.

I have never felt this way before, this was the first ti I have ever felt sothing ominous. I called Mom and Vanessa earlier and they were okay, the only person I need to worry about right now is Emma. My cold wasn’t my concern, that was the least of the thoughts I had in mind. I’m bothered about Emma, and I don’t think I will be able to shake this feeling off not until I set my eyes on her and see that she is okay.

Dace was back ho and yet there was no confird report that she was with him, that can’t be right... or did Emma co to this place when Dace already left? But the ti fra didn’t match, which ans he must have sohow t her. I keep dialing Emilia’s number but she won’t pick up her damn phone.

Seriously, what’s the use of having this damn device if they can’t use it?

Those two siblings have a bad habit of not picking up calls when it matters the most. That mind link of theirs was creating this bad habit. Phones are useless, but I can’t keep a clear head not until I hear from Emilia and know that Emma was safe with Dace. Yes, he was losing his marbles in the most horrifying way possible, the beast side that remained tad by a werelion after decades of training was taking over to transmit him into a full Rogue and what made this situation, even more, worse for him was... he’s Alpha blood and an Alpha blood has never been transmitted into a Rogue before. There are certain things that cannot get out of the laws of nature and this was one of them, the last thing we wanted was a Rogue Alpha roaming around, especially soone like Dace.

Dace has an unhinged bloodlust that not even Emma notices, I have fought Dace before and I knew how he is when Emma isn’t by his side, there is always a piece to the puzzle that completes it and makes it whole, and that piece is Emma as she is the better half of him, their connection was far greater than anything I have ever seen before, and that connection will have to stay for both their sakes.

Dace will never lay a hand on her, I trust him that much... but I couldn’t shake the feeling that there might be a possibility that... which is stupid of

to think about, My worry is on a full drive here and I’m thinking of crazy scenarios.

"Grayson!"

"What?!" I snapped at Owen beside .

"Nothing... you’re spacing out too much, been calling your na for two minutes. Besides that... are you okay?" he looked

up and down and I knew he noticed I was shivering.

"I’m fine, just cold" I grumbled, focusing more on the path. This area gave

a sense of familiarity and I wondered why I had seen it before and then it hit

the mont we stood before the cottage house.

The house Dace and Emilia owned as their safe spot.

"What the fuck is a house doing here in the middle of the wild?"

I ignored Owen’s question as I pointed the flashlight I held to the modern-style building, the windows were broken, almost like soone or sothing broke in. Does that an Emma ca here? If she did, was she attacked? In a panic of that thought alone I rushed through the front door that was barely holding up on its hinges and I caught notice of the claw marks which made my fear spiked.

Inside the house was completely dark and there was not much I could see with my flashlight.

"EMMA!" I called looking around the trashed living room, the sofas ripped and had claw marks everywhere, the windows were broken and there was broken glass scattered on the floor like the house was invaded by an earthquake. This wasn’t the work of just one werelion but a full pack.

A pack of Rogues.

"Could she be here? In this house in the middle of nowhere?" Owen asked

from behind.

"This house belongs to Dace and Emilia, it’s their safe spot" I answered only as I rushed upstairs to the rooms kicking each door down with my boots as I called her desperately.

Maybe she hid?

But that would be impossible... because unlike

she has a very intoxicating scent and the mont it catches a whiff of it can be traced by any shifter.

Shit!

I rushed to the room Dace and Emma stayed in the last ti we were here, the bed was a ss which could an Emma wasn’t here alone, she was definitely here with Dace no doubt.

"GRAYSON!"

I abandoned all sense of thought as I dashed out of the room and down the stairs.

"What, did you find anything?!" I demanded instantly as I rushed into the kitchen. "Owen!" I called him but he just ignored

and stood there like he was about to pass out. His face paled as he pointed his torch to sothing, I did too and that was when the lights flickered on, probably the switch coming back on.

I broke in cold sweat when I saw the mask of blood we stood on, covering almost every cover of the kitchen.

Hand blood imprints on the counter like a struggle as well on the floor, it was a horrifying sight. I have seen my share of bloody scenes back when I was a Venator and hunted monsters, and I’m always unaffected by it.

But this was enough to make

tremble to the point my flashlight fell out of my hand and dropped on the spot where a symbol was drawn with the blood.

"W-What is this?"
