Chapter 336: The Girl Who Cried Loud

I wanted to take Hayden back ho, but she begged

not to... saying she didn’t want anyone to know she was here, so we booked a hotel. I don’t know many places here in Juneau but thanks to Google Maps we were able to find a decent hotel. Lodging in quickly and she set her things.

"Did you pack the whole house back here?" I mused, trying to create so humor after the emotional breakdown. She hadn’t exactly been smiling but finally, I caught one spreading her lips even though it was faint and it gave

relief.

"Will be staying for so ti" she says sitting on the bed and taking off her shades, hoodie, and cap, her afro curly brown hair is sprout free and I gotta see her attractive aqua eyes too. "After all this was my hotown, wasn’t it? Juneau’’ she mouth the na with stress and I sighed walking to the bed and taking a seat beside her.

"I miss your mom, she really is one of my best secretaries knows how to get the work done, after she left there was this empty space and I realized I have grown attached, the motherly part of her rubbed off on "

"Tell

about it" I rolled my eyes and we both giggled.

"How is she?"

"Fine, very fine, a nurse now but still doing so training in the hospital since it has been a long ti since she practiced it, but with the few connections she secured the job"

"That’s great, you know there was one ti I fainted after having so brownies and it was mixed you know, after a gig the rest of the singers and I wanted to get loose and you know the..." she motioned a seizure-like gesture.

"Oh my god"

"Yeah, and thankfully your mom saved my ass but after that ca scolding"

"Oh"

"Don’t worry I loved every minute of it"

I giggled, but then the sound died now. "Hayden, what happened I heard the news"

Her expression instantly turned solemn and her aqua eyes dimd. She inhaled sharply as she rose to her feet walking to the shelf and grabbed a glass before walking back to the bed and placing it on the nightstand.

"You might wanna cover your ears"

"What?"

"Just do it"

I nodded doing so.

She sighed again. "Here it goes crazy" she mouths mostly to herself before turning her entire concentration on the glass, drawing a deep breath closing her eyes. I pondered what she was about to do by opening my mouth to speak but it instantly snapped shut when a loud short scream ca from her.

It wasn’t just any scream, it was a deep intense one that shook my very bones, it sounded like a sonic wave instead of a re scream and I noticed sothing neon like a wrap of air spilling from her mouth in spirals and directed at the glass and it exploded, the glass spilled everywhere and a loud yelp ca off .

Hayden took a deep breath before facing

with a look of gloom in her eyes.

"Oh my god Hayden!" I said taking my hands off my ears, but I felt a warm liquid co out.

"Shit!" she cursed, rushing to

with wipes and using it to clean the small trail of blood coming out of my ears even though I closed them. "Sorry, I’m still practicing not exploding people’s ears," she said, rubbing the blood off.

"That is so cool"

"No that makes

weirder, I an..." she frustratedly threw the wipes on the ground. "I was the cause okay?"

"The cause of what"

"The incident on my gig on New Year,"

My eyes went wide in realization.

"Yes Emma, I almost killed millions of people, my god, children, woman, so many hell of a people" she broke and I held her hand.

"But you didn’t!"

"It was my fault, Emma when I was singing and I reached a high note, I don’t know how to explain it but it... I-Its felt like sothing just flowed out of

and it wasn’t just my voice and then the stage collapsed. Everyone scread thinking it was just a re malfunction but..." her breathing hitched and I quickly pulled her into a hug and she burst into tears.

"It’s okay, you’re okay"

She sobbed. "When the dics arrived so were even admitted to the hospital for ear damage" she cried holding

tightly. "Am I cursed, Emma?"

I pulled and gripped her shoulders tightly. "No... you’re not cursed and if you had control, which you will, nothing like this happens again. What happened that day was not your fault because you didn’t want it to happen. You’re not guilty of anything, it was not your fault"

She shook her head, "The feeling of soone was gonna die was enough but this... this is enough to destroy my whole career, I can’t go back to my life, I left the industry without saying anything cause what could I say? That I have a sonic voice that can destroy a whole damn building? I can’t even sing anymore without the fear of hurting soone"

She was right, everything she said was a painful truth which only broke my heart more. She was torn between her powers and losing her career, which she had already lost because there was no way she could go back on stage.

Her powers have awakened, I rembered Dace telling

that the Juneaus were banshees and I did my fair reading of them in the library even though there was nothing much said about them, I knew what she was dealing with.

Closer to death as they said... death was a friend to them, because death told them who it would take, their screams weren’t just screams but like a lantation.

"I don’t even know how to tell you this" her sobbing voice broke

out of my thoughts.

"Tell

what?"

She faces

with bloodshot eyes and her lips quivered and hesitant in her eyes.

"Hayden, please tell , what is it, I promise I will help you as best as I can, everyone here mostly is supernatural, they will help you, they will guide you just like they did

too"

She shook her head. "This is not about guidance Emma" It was almost like a whisper but I heard.

"Death greets you... you’re going to die, Emma"
