Chapter 313: The Past Year

EMMA

~

"Emma, Grayson! You two are gonna be late for school!"

My mom ca the 5th ti this morning, geez! It wasn’t my fault Grayson I was overly sluggish today, gim us a break!

"EMMA!"

Ugh! Now I was the only one being sluggish, Grayson must have gone downstairs because she kept screaming my na now, I guess this is where I say I miss my aunt when it cos to this, she always calls

once. Where is she anyway? I surely should have heard her voice by now.

I hurried in brushing my hair, it ca easier now mostly because of the shorter length now, I grabbed my baggy brown cardigan and wore it on top of my black shirt. Before sitting on the bed and quickly tiring my boots. Done, I rushed and grabbed my phone and bag as I rushed downstairs.

"Ah, there she is..." My mom comnts, dropping my plate of toast on the table.

"Shouldn’t you be at work?"

"I was given ti," she says.

Grayson turned to

with a mouth full of bread and I almost snorted a laugh, his cheeks were all pumped and it sort of made him look cute.

"Where’s Vanessa?" I asked, taking my seat and quickly rushing my toast.

"Out... she said sothing about having a eting at the covenstead"

"Oh" I made a sound... chewing as I turned to Grayson who just shrugged.

"And she took T Jnr she wanna check him up at the vet"

No wonder I haven’t seen my fur baby, I think he’s getting closer to Vanessa.

My mom looked between the two of us. "Did sothing happen? I’m getting all that vibe right now"

"Nope," Grayson said only as he grabbed his bag and rose to his feet.

"Hmm" She made a sound not looking convinced at all as she grabbed her bag. I admired how she looked in her scrubs, the look was really nice on her, and my mom was always a beautiful lady, I must be feverish because she looks so damn good in this.

I couldn’t take my eyes off her as she rolled the black sleeves she wore beneath and checked her watch.

"I will drop you guys" My mom offered the mont we stepped outside.

"No need, You’re already late. Emma and I will ride my bike" Grayson says.

’’Oh no I’m not riding that monster with you, what if I fall out?!" I panicked and Grayson chuckled.

"I told you a number of tis it won’t" He mused.

"Alright you two get going I’m already late myself," my mom said rushing to her car.

"Mom!" I called. I really wish she would drop .

"Love you guys," she says driving off.

"Great" I mumbled under my breath.

"Co on" Grayson urged. Giving

a spare helt. "Just hold on to

tightly it will be fun, besides we are super late now and the school bus already left"

I sighed in defeat, taking the helt and placing it on. "Better?"

He chuckled, closing the glass in front. "Hop on," he said, straddling the black bike and putting on his helt before adjusting his bag in his front. I took a deep breath before straddling the back and wrapping my arms around him tightly.

"Not too tight" He teased.

"You sound oddly amused, is my fear of bikes an amusent for you?" I grumbled.

"I guess we will find out" he started the engines and zood off without warning and I almost scread. But instead, I squeezed my eyes shut and held him tighter than ever.

"Better face your fear" he snickered at the end of it.

Between the blowing of the breeze, I felt kissing my exposed skin... I let my eyes flick but I shut them quickly when I noticed the blur of things around . Maybe I will face my fear soti later but definitely not today.

I further grip him.

We arrived at school in no ti and Grauson parked his bike at the parking lot. A new year was fresh as always and the school was flooded. Please this year be nice, I wasn’t proud of my results so I aim to do better, let’s hope so supernatural craziness won’t ruin that.

A lot has happened in the past year. I was attacked by a vampire who says he’s coming for , thank god that hasn’t happened and I pray it doesn’t. Found out the guy I like is a werelion and discovered I’m a witch myself, half to be exact... at least one good thing ca out of it.

I turned to Grayson beside , I found my brother and I fell in love with Dace.

"Heard from Dace yet?" he asked as we approached the school building along with others.

I shook my head adjusting my hair that seed out of place because of the helt. "Not yet, been calling but phones are not that important to him because of their mind link"

"Why use phones then?" he amused and I rolled my eyes.

"I’m just worried"

"I’m sure he will co around, he might even be in school right now"

I smiled having a little hope at his words, sothing sparkled within

and I realized how much I miss him, I wanted to see his face so badly that it made my heart leap.

"Um, Grayson?" I began the mont we walked through the school doors into the busy hall.

"Yeah?"

"Are you sure that you don’t wanna attend night school? I an it’s like the rule of every witch here,"

He shrugged. "I don’t know Emma, I grew up a Venator, and accepting that part of

is not sothing I can handle, besides I don’t think magic is for "

"But you did alright back at the hospital when we connected to the past"

"True yes... but still not doing it" he stops. "Are you afraid of sothing?"

He could actually tell without

showing it.

"Not afraid... I’m just worried. Owens’s dad, Oliver, he might go out of his way as he always does," I said, I could still rember what he pulled off when I was accused of weakening the barrier, that man was a handful, even the day he threatened , I shivered at the thought of it.

"Ah our almighty clan leader, still not attending" he rustled my hair before walking into class and I sighed.

"Really?" I quickly fixed my hair, there was no way I was seeing Dace looking like soone who brought her bed hair to school, thanks to Grayson I had to take one minute to set it before walking into class with a smile on my lips, but they quickly vanish when I didn’t catch a glimpse of Dace.
