Chapter 251: In The Wild {1}

EMMA

~

Grayson was finally done jumping the trees by the ti the sunset. It was a bit of a loss for

because I actually enjoyed his swinging and the whoosh of breeze blowing against my face, it was like when I rode Dace, the sa sensation I felt that day.

"You okay?" I asked because I noticed he was breathing profusely. I still held onto him firmly, I had to because we were still on top of the trees.

"Yeah I’m good, just never done this while carrying soone," he says and then in a quick jump he was down from the tree and I was off his back giving off a sharp exhale, that was really a long ride, I was still flushed from all the breeze.

"You didn’t close your eyes did you" he was more of a profound choice of words than a question.

I forced a smile nodding. "It was too beautiful to close my eyes and sort of scary" I admitted.

He made a hmm sound and I had the feeling he felt the sa way too. "We’re far away now, they can’t reach us here"

I nodded but then suddenly I shivered.

"Co on I will get a fire going"

~

I watched as Grayson rubbed the two stones together and lit a fire on the gathered branches he collected not too long ago.

"You’re natural in this" I was forced to comnt, he did everything so perfectly well that it made

wonder if I were in his shoes. Well... I would still be aimlessly rubbing those two stones together and get nowhere.

"As a Venator, we spend long hours or days in the wild hunting..." he said, shifting to take a seat beside , I noticed his features changed. "But I’m not really a Venator am I?" his tone was heavy now.

"M-Maybe your real mother is," I said before I could hold my tongue. He faces

with a curious expression.

"I an you jumped trees like a real Venator and your scent is odorless, you have possible traits like them. Your parents might not be your real ones but I think you’re still a Venator" that was the conclusion I ca to in my head after thinking about everything because that was the only explanation.

"Maybe... or not, I’m still thinking how I healed so fast from that wound, I was pretty sure I heard my rib snap from that fall. We heal quickly but not that quickly"

" too," I admitted with a gulp. I heard his rib snap too, I still haven’t gotten that sound off my head.

He faces

again. "Did he hurt you? I passed out the mont I hit the ground"

I faced the dancing flas before us, and then pulled my knees to my chest and rested my chin on my kneecap. "I can’t say but he was playing with "

"Hmm... getting ready to devour you"

"But he didn’t!" I snapped at him as I faced him.

"You don’t know that Emma if Emilia wasn’t there he would have eaten you"

"You don’t know Dace, he WILL never hurt "

"Tell that to your side," he pointed out and he looked angry now, angry that I was hurt. "You think I didn’t notice you whining in pain as I jumped?"

I held my side. "It’s not deep, I’m so bad at pain that’s why"

He sighed. "Will you let

see it?"

"It’s nothing" I mumbled.

He exhaled again. "Look Emma I know you wanna believe that Dace is still there but I don’t think so..."

I faced him with stern eyes. "Why would you say so?"

"Because he’s now a Rogue and there’s no way a werelion can co back from that after their beast has taken over their mind, that’s hard to co back from and he’s an Alpha... the more beastly and dangerous"

I gulped at his words, mostly at the ntion of the word ’Rogue’. Emilia said sothing like that, this must be what she ant.

"I-I don’t wanna lose him, Grayson, I can’t" I was already on the verge of tears, the thought of Dace never coming back to

was endless suffering, it got my mark aching as well as my very chest like it was gripped by a hand, squeezing the life out of it.

"He’s right"

At the sudden voice, we turned and found Emilia.

"Emilia"

She stepped out of the dark into the light, and as she did I noticed her eyes were glowing in the dark but when she ca to the light it was just her normal hazel eyes.

"I led Lucas and the others far off the trail, they won’t find you or Dace," she said. "Because if they find Dace, on my parent’s orders he will have to reject you"

"What?" I asked in confusion.

She sighed. "Walk with ," she said with a nudge of her head but I noticed as her eyes darted to Grayson before walking.

Eager to get answers I followed but swiftly turned to Grayson he just gave

a small smile.

I followed Emilia like three trees apart from where the fire was.

"What do you an Emilia?!" I finally ask when she stopped and she faces

with her arms folded.

"You need to know everything first" she began in a stern tone and I knew she was trying to mask her expression. "Dace was devastated when your CLAN didn’t let him see you, he ca day after day for a whole month but they didn’t budge. It was breaking him Emma because he couldn’t see you, they only told him you were in a critical condition and that made it much worse"

The tears clustering in my eyes were already falling on their own accord. Because of what she said I knew it well because of how alive my senses were when I was asleep but hearing it from her right now I could imagine how broken Dace must have been and it killed

inside.

"He was in a bad state, taking on a toll on him, being apart from the one you’re bound to do that," I noticed as her eyes trailed to where Grayson was and back to .

"So I gave him a solution"

"W-What solution?" I asked in my shaky voice followed by a sob.

Her gaze was leveled before she took a deep breath and faced

with regretful eyes. "I told him to reject you, that it was the only way to stop his suffering"

"What does this rejection an?" I asked in a tone that was almost in a whisper. Sothing tells

that it wasn’t a good thing judging from Emilia’s expression.

"A way of breaking a bond with your Male or Female. The ’Rejection’ when it happens, the feelings, the love, and everything just goes away, he even forgets ever knowing you"

"A-And you told him to do that?"

"I’m sorry," she said breathlessly. "I really am, I didn’t understand the gravity of what I did and because of that, he snapped, and then..." her voice was shaky now. "H-He Let his beast take over his mind, he let his lion do the thinking and before I knew it he was gone, he beca a Rogue"

I drew sharply on my breath as I held the tree bark for so sort of support because it felt like I would collapse from my breathing.

"And now after my dad found out what happened, He has given the order that we should search for him"

"What happens when they find him?" I whispered to her.

"My dad will use his Alpha control to make him reject you, and it’s the only way to bring him back, he can’t lose a son or his heir. I’m sorry Emma this is all my fault"

I turned on my heels.

"Emma!"

I didn’t answer, I didn’t turn, my vision was blurry from all the tears that clustered in my eyes and all I knew was I just needed to go away, away from everything.

I leaned on a tree as I sobbed and helplessly dried my tears with the back of my hand, but they kept spilling from my eyes nonstop and I wasn’t able to control them. The pain, the loss, the thought of never being with Dace anymore, the thought of him rejecting . I felt like I was drowning and I was suffocating beyond recovery and my breathing beca unstable as I gripped the tree bark tightly and then I broke again. My cries echoed.

Since the very first ti we found each other our relationship was never accepted, it was never looked upon, I wasn’t so sure his parents even accepted , and I wasn’t so sure anyone did. Every single thing they did was to separate us and it was either one thing or the other. Why can’t they stop? Why can’t it just stop? Why? Why?!

I cried so hard that I felt my face would fall off. I don’t think I can survive without him, I can’t, enduring the distance, enduring everything.

I felt like I was pulverizing within my body.
