Chapter 234: The Rogue
It was quiet, impossibly quiet and I could hear the sound of my own beating heart because of the dead silence. The sound of my throat moving up and down echoed in my ears, my sharp breathing as I took in the cold air that now hung over the area, my orbs caught notice of the particles of snow descending.
My hands still trembled but I held my dagger firm. My eyes did not depart from this Beast not even for a second.
The beast watched
and did not make a move. I began to ponder for how long... maybe it was waiting for
to make the first move... my grip further tightened on my dagger, was this so sort of sick ga for it? It killed my comrades and now it wants to toy with ?
His growl snapped
out of my thoughts, I watched as his nails extended and that was when I knew it was coming for
so I didn’t wait any longer I advanced quickly on my feet and it did too. Each of its paws against the ground made the earth shake beneath and I felt it override my bones but I kept my pace, I was calculative and cautious for I knew one mistake will end up ripping
to pieces.
So I duck and his claws missed my head, it was a clean action and I knew one wrong move and that claw of his would have taken my head. In the process of sliding beneath this beast I cut the wire I spotted not too long ago, one of our traps I knew it won’t do anything much but it would slow it down, long enough for
to finish it off.
*Snap*
The trap ca, the tree bark plunging in the direction of the beasts and it once again slash into it with little effort. But I didn’t stop there, I moved fast and aid at the other traps as the werelion ca for , it slowed it down and I was fast on my feet, relentlessly cutting the wires, and the sound of snapping ropes filling my ears as well as clashing sound and animalistic growls.
I was fast in the distance, and nothing in sight so I hid behind a tree, panting and finally having the chance to catch my breath. I was moving way too fast than my body could handle, just how fast was that thing? I peeped behind the tree... at least I was able to slow it down with the traps... I couldn’t see it in sight anymore.
I just need to catch my breath... It was a difficult feat, especially with this cloth on my face so I ripped it off and allowed my nose to breathe the cold air and sowhat give
relief.
At this current state, I don’t think I will make it and this werelion has tailed , it will track
down even without my scent until I’m ripped apart, even if I fight longer and try to buy ti to slow it down it was futile because my body will give off way before it will give
a chance to strike a bow.
"Fuck!" I cursed under my breath, Alphas were the worst, and what made it more life-threatening for
was this was a Rogue, it’s beast side have overridden this werelion’s brain. In a normal case in the sense of the situation it would retreat or admit its defeat on
but this will hunt until everything in its part is plunged down.
I have no choice then... I closed my eyes and pictured Emma’s face.
"I can’t die here," I said to myself. I can’t die here, not until I see her again, not until I see she is okay. It has been a month and yet I still can’t stop thinking about her. I was no longer attending Juneau high but yet I can’t erase the mories, they haunted
more than ever now. I was solely there because of my mission but I ended up getting attached.
And I can’t stop thinking about her too... Emilia.
That is why I can’t die here... I opened my eyes and reached for the single arrow I had and connected it to my crossbow. This one arrow was the chance I have, no matter what it has to hit, the silver will do the rest.
I heard the approaching fast sound and growls... I knew this was it.
"Take what you can... and by blood, we pay the price" the mont I mouthed my Tribe Quote which was a way of giving
the will to move, I did... away from hiding and faced the beast head on, it ca onto
in speed and I pointed my arrow with a silent prayer for it to hit.
If I miss I die but if I hit I survive and there is no way I will die... not until I see her again and have her annoying eyes on
and her inquisitive behavior towards
and have that beautiful girl set her hazels on
again.
I shot the arrow and I was very certain it would hit because I got a better angle but it didn’t plunge the chest because before my eyes I noticed another werelion pushed the other away and in the process I think I missed.
Did I?
I wasn’t sure because it happened so fast and the two beasts slid away from the high ground. I heard a crash sound and growls and then the vibration of a tree like they hit it, it was chaos there and I knew it. The next was complete silence.
Now there were two werelions when I was trying to survive one, just how ill-fated am I? I was still and the silence was killing , this was the perfect chance for
to survive and make my escape but why the fuck am I walking there?
I must have a death wish... I realize that now but I chose to ignore it. I put my crossbow aside and held my dagger closely. I slide down the high ground and my green orbs land on a werelion with my arrow sticking out its shoulder, I didn’t miss then... I just didn’t get a clear shot of its chest.
But wait a minute, why does this werelion look different from the one that attacked ? This was different... growls leaked off it and it leaned further against the tree in pain.
It has a feminine shape too... a female?
