Chapter 142: Night School

The car made that cranking sound like it would co apart any second, Vanessa was still ignorant to change this car. Guess there was no point complaining, I could tell how much she wanted to push this car beyond the limits.

"We’re here," she said finally breaking an hour of silence. I turned my gaze to the familiar building I will be learning for the next month and I felt nothing but uncomfortable.

"Do I really have to stay here too?"

"Just think of it like a sumr camp, it’s easier that way"

I sighed, opening the car door and attempting to co down but she stopped

with her words.

"You will adjust... it wasn’t easy for

too when I first started," she began. " I didn’t have your mom with , we were inseparable until I got my Cycle," she said in a heavy tone filled with emotion and I was forced to face her. "I was angry and hurt that she won’t experience the world of supernatural with ... but I guess fate had other plans, your mom was destined to go out there and live her life and I was destined to stay here... I’m not angry anymore but I’m happy, she gets to live a normal life. I wanted that for you too"

I grip my bag on my lap.

"I guess fate has other plans too"

"Emma!" we turned at the sound of my na.

"Carly?" I said recognizing her, with her brown hair in twin braids and her dim blue eyes.

"Yeah she just started this month too... she was working part-ti for

to help her mom, but now she gets to school," Vanessa said with a smile. "She was happy when she heard you were enrolling"

"I guess everyone won’t be a stranger to ," I said with relief in fact, even though I knew Owen was here we weren’t on good terms right now, but Carly was a dream co true.

I got down from the car before slamming the door shut. I didn’t know what words to tell her but I just offered a smile that quickly vanished as I walked toward Carly.

"Oh my god! I can’t believe this, you’re here!" She squealed. "When I heard I was super shocked like really, you have witch blood, tell

how does it feel?" As usual, Carly was chatty, not that I found it annoying it was just the kind of person she was.

"Weird" I answered truthfully but she still looked amazed by the fact.

"This has never happened before having the cycle at your age is mind-blowing"

"Despite that, I’m still a half-witch" I mumbled as she walked towards the building.

"And that too amazes ... I an we have never had a half-witch around here"

"Never?"

She nods. "Never... the families prefer to keep the bloodline pure, it is what makes the magic stronger"

"I see" so that ans in the whole of this town I was the only half witch? That was quite alarming.

"Let’s get to our rooms, I agreed to be your roommate"

Super...

~

Once we settled in our room which was, in fact, the sa building as the school, no wonder it was bigger, according to Carly the dorms were built for sumrs like this, during school break the school functions like our high school and we get to stay like a boarding school or sothing and when schools resu we co here only during night hours but the classes run for a short amount of ti.

Great.... So I have two schools I have to survive and here I thought high school was the only thing I will deal with.

Dressing in all black was a new thing for

too, well any clothes as long as it was black, at least I get to choose what I wear. I just had on a black pair of boyfriend jeans and a baggy black cardigan, I allowed my hair in a ponytail and not my usual signature bun, thanks to Emilia I think any packing can suit

now.

Carly and I walked to one of the gardens, where our first class would be held, this really was a different atmosphere, seeing so familiar faces too, and yet none I didn’t know. I spotted Owen standing with Miles and Henry engaging in a conversation until he set his eyes on

and he paused, seeing his looks I was certain he already knew I would attend, he offered

a small smile but I looked away.

"There’s Owen, let’s stand over there" she offered, I didn’t want to but she seed to beam because she wanted to so I had no other choice... I would have told her to go off on her own but I didn’t want to stay alone, that wasn’t a good idea so I gave a nod of approval and we walked over to them.

"Emma" Henry mused. "So a witch... nice"

"Unbelievable" Miles said.

I just smile faintly pulling so strings of my hair behind my ear, it was nice seeing the two again at least they survived that day. Owen was about to say sothing but thank god the teacher was here already standing in front of a flat rock before us, in a round shape.

"Attention everyone" She mused, she looked proper, giving that vibe of a professor, looked normal to

but I should know otherwise.

We weren’t much to teach because I counted just 10 of us, seems like there were different classes too, Carly did tell

they operate like our normal school.

"We have a new one with us today"

My heart skipped a beat, great, this was sothing I wanted to avoid.

"Young Emma Adams" she mused and the rest went in a mumble.

"Although her Cycle was late she’s still one of us... a witch... even though half"

The murmurs increased. I didn’t like the tone she used when she said half... like I don’t know this woman so why the tone? As if not enough her eyes centered on

gaining the unwanted attention I always hated, all eyes on

now and I was super anxious like I would have a breakdown any mont, I could feel their piercing gaze and the murmurs about , there were much so I couldn’t pinpoint everything, I couldn’t tell if they said a good thing or bad things about , what I knew was I didn’t want to hear it and I wanted the ground to swallow

so badly.

Not until I felt a hand grab mine in a tight hold, I turned to Owen, it belonged to him, what was he trying to pull off right now? Whatever it was it helped settle

and gave

a tiny bit of comfort.

"Welco Emma Adams" she mused and I brought my gaze back to her.

"T-Thank you," I said as loud as I could but my voice still remained dim.

She gave a curt nod like any professional and faced the rest of the class like she was about to begin and finally the eyes on

were off. I quickly pulled my grip from Owen’s hold, almost too fast and I cleared my throat.

"Don’t let her get to you Emma" Carly told

with a smile and I struck a nod along with a smile, but I still felt a deep pit in my stomach.

~

My first Class seed normal to

except for the fact she talked about spells and elents which wasn’t what a normal class should teach so it was official, I was in Hogwarts, great.

I flipped the pages of the books, scanning my eyes through them but they all seed blank to , I was a witch now right? Shouldn’t the works just pop up?

"Having trouble?"

I gasped and twirled to Owen who was suddenly behind . Was he following ? That was a stupid thing to think, this was a library anyone could be in here.

"N-No," I said replied facing the blank pages back.

"Can’t read it can you?"

I bit my bottom lip at his words.

"Didn’t you hear Mrs. Claudia?"

"I can read the pages if I focus my magic in my eyes" I recited her words back in class.

He chuckled. "But you ain’t doing that"

"Because I don’t know how..." I faced him. "I have only been here a few hours and just found out I’m a half-witch just a week ago" I exhaled sharply. I didn’t expect any of this would be easy.

"I will help you... That’s why I’m here"

"I will ask Carly" I twirled but his hand on my arm stopped .

"Carly just started newly, she’s just a newbie just like you"

I forgot that. I turned to him gradually pulling my arm from his grip and he let .

"I can help if you just ask... I know this is hard for you but it doesn’t an you should face it alone" he said softly.

I just nodded.

"We may be in the sa class but I’m your senior"

I rolled my eyes at his words and he snickered at my action.

I darted my eyes to his and I forgot how beautiful they were, a set of brown with a mix of maroon cover. I leveled my gaze.

"So tell ... how do I read the spells?"
