Chapter 138: Words Of Thorns
I banged the door to the car and quickly ambled away, I didn’t want to even spend a second with anyone, I wanted to be left alone but seems like what I have always wanted had never been really mine,
"Hey, Emma!" Owen grabbed my arm as he twirled . "What’s the rush? I haven’t seen you for weeks, I have been worried"
I chewed on the inside of my mouth, yes seeing him too was a relief I was glad he was okay after the state I last saw him but I was angry, hurt, confused, and still most likely about getting a glimpse of what was about to happen in my life right now, it kept
at the edge of a seat with a really long line to fall from.
"You have been awfully quiet since the ride" he moved close and I felt the need to move away. "Talk to , Emma"
I faced my irate eyes at him and perplexity flushed his features, surely he wasn’t expecting
to shoot him that look.
"You told your dad didn’t you" I began sternly, the words I have been holding onto finally leaving . It was ti to let loose what I had in mind, he was among the people I could freely voice my feelings.
"Wha-"
"Vanessa must have told you because trust she can’t keep a secret and then you went ahead and told your dad!"
He scowled. "Emma, don’t tell
you like staying with those beasts"
"Really Owen" I huffed before pulling away from his grip. "Dace saved my life, they cared for , you should have seen the mark" I pointed to the half bandage I now wore. "They nurse
back to health"
"I was trying to get to you Emma, I tried," he said with a bitter expression but I was nonchalant to it. "I would have gotten to you faster... then I would have been the one to save, I would have been the one to nurse you back to health" he explains with emotions swirling in his brown orbs like he hated himself for not being able to do what Dace did. It made my heart flutter at the sincerity of his words and I saw nothing but care, but I pushed the feelings back but then his looks turned stony. "Dace only took you back for selfish reasons’’ he concluded.
"Ugh, Owen!"
"Emma!" he hissed at . "You’re a half-witch now" he began pinning
with his gaze. "Which ans your silly relationship with him or that bond you think you must have ford with his family are over!"
I bit my bottom lip, harder than I expected myself to, maybe I was trying to hold in the swirling of emotion rising within
and finding their way to my eyes and almost escaping in tears. His words sting and make
cold. I couldn’t even look at him anymore as I looked away trying to fight back the tears that desperately wanted to gush out and my chest tightened in so sort of pain, his words or more... reality sinking in, I don’t know what hurt
most.
Owen sighed like he realized what he had just done. "Look Emma, I’m sorry for raising my voice, okay" he began in a much softer tone but it only made it feel like spikes in my throat. "I’m worried about you... the way you think sotis scares , I have wanted nothing more but to let you understand the gravity of the things you decide"
More spikes, I backed away from him.
"Emma, co on!"
I swirled getting to the door when it swung open. "Emma what are you-" I walked past her before she could even finish. I rushed straight upstairs and banged the door shut, running my hand in my hair, my breath picking up in pitch.
I sighed heavily as I sat on my bed, burying my hands in my face, my glasses hosting up in the process. I tried to calm my breathing but I was doing a really bad job at that. My insides were turning and my heart was slamming so heavily that I couldn’t bear it, my body screaming at
and I was hating myself for leaving but then I rembered Emilia’s words.
"I can’t deny the fact that everything he said is not true, you’re a half-witch now and you have to go with them, you’re PART of their clan now"
I sighed heavily once again.
"Sotis we don’t hold power to the things that happen to us"
Those last words of hers sounded like a deeper aning.
I heard a knock at my door.
"Just go away!" I barked louder than I expected. I wanted to be left alone, let them at least let
have that. But despite that, the door swung open and Vanessa walked in. "Emma," she began.
"Please don’t" I shook my head, I didn’t wanna hear their sudden reminder like they rehearsed everything second of it, and when she opened her mouth to speak I was fast to cut her off. "Dace told you not to tell them, you promised, and now..." My breath shakes, it was always one thing or another, if it wasn’t the stupid law... It was soone.
"I didn’t tell anybody"
I shot her a look.
"Except Owen, I told him because he cared for you Emma, What I do not expect was him telling his father"
"You shouldn’t have told him"
"Emma" she strode towards
until she was sitting beside
in bed. "This was bound to happen no matter how you tried to avoid it"
"What part... the witch blood, the psycho vampire after ?"
"The part that no matter how you try to be with the werelions you cannot"
"So now it’s back to Dace" I shot to my feet running my hands through my hair. "I’m a teenage girl who has a boyfriend, why can’t you accept that?"
"I do Emma"
"But if it’s Owen you won’t say a thing. No matter how you try to let
follow my feelings or agree for a second it still doesn’t change the fact that you will never accept my relationship with Dace!"
"Emma" she was up on her feet and I couldn’t stop myself from sobbing. "When you were human it was easier"
I closed my eyes.
"It was just you and the law of coexistence, but now this is different it is more than that... you’re part of the supernatural, you’re a witch, you’re an Adams, the sa world I believed you would never be a part of.. this is bigger than the both of us now... this involves the head family, this includes following protocols, this involves ways!"
I exhaled deeply multiple tis, this was the first ti, this was the first ti seeing Vanessa like this, serious, unwavering, and angry, with the mix of emotions in her dim green eyes, I didn’t need anyone to tell , I didn’t need a further explanation, this ti was way different ever since that Cycle happened to .
"For the peace treaty and living the families to their respective places, the werelions made a blood oath with us"
"W-What?"
"A blood oath, they were more than happy to accept that fact because of the proud beast they are, they didn’t have any worry because other supernaturals, humans, are insignificant to them as long as they were content with what they have"
My eyes trembled, my blood simring with cold within and my fingertips fidgeting, that was why... that was why Dace’s dad was bent on following the rules... because of the blood oath. This was never clear to
because of the fact I was a human, a human who was naive but not now I was supernatural.

"I hate to be the bad person Emma, but centuries of an oath and peace must go on or one family will tear the other apart, I have only been quiet about this because you do not belong in this world but now you do"
My heart stings, and the tears fell freely before I could push them back, push my pain back.
"Your relationship with the werelions... your relationship with Dace...’’ she spoke in strong words. "...is nothing more than a forgotten mory now"
I grip my hand on the dresser as if to hold myself because I felt I might fall from the gravity of her words.
"The barriers are patched now... if any royal cos after you, we will deal with it accordingly, here is safe, WITH your clan" she walks out but stops right at the door. "I’m sorry Emma" were her final words as she walked out and that was enough ti for the tears to fall more.
I leaned my back against the wall before breaking out of pent-up tears and cries. I pulled my knees to my chest and cried the hardest I have ever cried before, releasing myself and allowing myself to feel the pain I have always hated... Well, today was an exception.
