Secretary Ann’s anger was justified. Shuu was just as shocked by this decision as the others.

But Yuri Blinkskey had already made his decision, and anyone could tell that he was not about to take it back.

"Secretary Ann, I am not paying you to question my decisions. I have told you what I want. As my secretary, it is your duty to follow my decisions, right?"

The S-ranked esper spoke, and his secretary had no choice but to agree with him.

With one last look at Shuu, the secretary left the room to get Shuu a contract he could sign.

The contract was too long, and there were too many complicated words for it to make sense. Shuu knew that he would not be able to understand half of it even if he tried.

Seeing his confusion and hesitation, Secretary Ann scoffed and decided to show how superior he was in terms of education and usefulness. He grabbed the contract and started to explain it to Shuu.

"This is your standard secretary contract for our guild. It includes your paynt, how many tis you need to go into the dungeon, etc. But none of it matters to you. The only thing that matters is this part here. Your duties will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. You will be paid a living expense as well as travel expenses. All your food will be paid for, but you will have to be available 24/7..."

Shuu listened carefully, and it seed like a decent contract for the most part. But he did not like the part where he would be bound to the guild.

He waited for Secretary Ann to finish speaking before voicing his concerns.

"This all sounds fine, but I don’t think I can take this contract. I actually have a son to look after, and I cannot leave him alone."

Everyone looked at Shuu with stunned expressions. They were shocked by this new piece of information, and their reactions made Shuu feel a little nervous.

Still, he kept his face impassive to show that he was not affected.

Yuri Blinkskey was the first to react to this news. He smiled at Shuu and, in a clear voice, declared his decision.

"Well, we will welco your son as well and add him to the contract. He can stay with you and enjoy all the benefits as a family mber. How old is he?"

"Seven."

"I see. Then we can enroll him in school and have him live a normal life. And in case he awakens as an esper, we can train him as well..."

"Well, about that... he awakened not too long ago."

The air in the room beca even heavier. Shuu did not want to be there anymore, but he forced himself to stand still.

Yuri Blinkskey finally made a decision.

"Your son is a newly awakened esper? Hmm, then I don’t think he has had his grade checked or completed the other formalities. He would also likely need a guide to look after him. We will take care of it all for you if you join the guild."

This deal was turning far too sweet. And if sothing looked too good to be true, then it was likely a trap.

What did this esper want from Shuu to offer all this?

’Does he know that I am a guide? Is this so kind of test to trap ?’

Seeing how guarded he still was, Secretary Ann decided to step in and offer a final condition.

"How about you sign a contract with us for three months as a trial run? You can decide if you want to continue in this guild or not after that ti. It will also give you enough ti to think about your decision."

Now this was sothing Shuu could agree to.

This still felt like a trap, and he would rather not fall into one if he could help it. Still... the money...

"Alright, I will sign the contract for three months and see how it works out."

Shuu agreed, and after reading the contract quickly (and having Secretary Ann explain what he did not understand), it was done. Shuu was now part of the Survivor’s Guild.

"Nice. That is one thing taken care of. Secretary Ann, would you like to show Shuu around? You can take him and his son to another office and finish the formalities. I have so other work to do."

Secretary Ann nodded, and Shuu watched the esper leave the room.

"Let’s go. We have work of our own to do."

Yuri Blinkskey left the eting room and imdiately went to the dical room where Kris was being treated.

The doctor greeted him and imdiately gave him a report.

"I have checked this esper, and all his vitals are fine. He does not have a guiding deficiency either. Secretary Ann must have done incredible work to get him this far. I expected nothing less from our A-class guide."

The doctor had nothing but praise for Secretary Ann. He was a B-class esper as well, and he could never forget how it felt to be helped by an A-class guide like him.

He envied Yuri Blinkskey for having such a great guide all to himself. But then again, that man was S-class, so it was uncertain whether an A-class guide even satisfied him.

Still, an S-class guide was practically unheard of. If one existed, they were guarded too heavily for anyone to know.

If one ever ca forward, the doctor would like to experience their abilities as well. But for now, he had a task at hand.

"I see. So the esper is alright? Can I question him about what happened in the dungeon? Will he be able to answer?"

Yuri Blinkskey asked, and the doctor sighed.

"It should be alright for you to question him. But I cannot guarantee how complete his mory will be. He used a lot of his power, and that could have caused strain on his mind. So make sure you go a little slow, alright?"
