In the end, the guards had no choice but to throw Lady Elysia into a comfortable cell. But they were not sure what to do about her exactly.
Emperor Kaiden was not here, and the guards were firm believers, so they did not feel comfortable asking Shuu about anything.
So the responsibility of keeping things in check fell on Prince Yunn and Princess Danielle.
To decide what to do with Lady Elysia, a quick eting was called. It was headed by Prince Yunn and Princess Danielle, and Shuu was invited to the eting as well.
He initially wanted to decline, but in the end, he decided to go because he wanted to hear the verdict against Lady Elysia.
Even if she ended up going free, he wanted to be the first one to know so that he could prepare for it accordingly.
The eting was set up in no ti, and people took their seats. Not only were the temple officials and the counciln present, but also many nobles who believed in the goddess and her word. They all looked at Shuu like they wanted to chew him alive for causing this ss.
But Shuu was too used to these looks to feel bothered by them.
Once everyone was present, Prince Yunn coughed to get their attention. Everyone turned toward him, but the hostility aid at Shuu did not lessen.
He did his best to ignore it as well, but it was hard to do, and he felt a little suffocated by the pressure.
"Everyone, thank you for joining us at such short notice. As you must have heard, this eting is being held to discuss what we should do about Lady Elysia’s actions. She has attacked not only Shuu, but Crown Prince Caelis as well. As such, we can no longer look the other way and allow her actions to pass."
Prince Yunn did not beat around the bush and spoke clearly. His words and unforgiving tone caused many people to flinch. But just as many felt brave enough to stand up to him.
The first one to do so was Baron Conner, Lady Elysia’s father.
He stood tall, his eyes fixed on the Prince with a hostile light.
"Excuse , Your Highness. But I cannot agree with your verdict. My daughter was chosen by the goddess to co and serve the Emperor. She is a holy person, and we cannot just punish her as we please."
He was a concerned father wanting the best for his daughter. Everyone understood his words, and even Prince Yunn looked a bit hesitant to continue.
But he ultimately sighed and gave the older man an apologetic look.
"I do understand what you want to say, Baron Conner. However, we cannot look the other way this ti. Not only did Lady Elysia try to kill Shuu, but she also attempted to harm the Crown Prince. This is a grave offense."
Prince Yunn reminded the Baron, but his words only made the air tenser.
More and more people began to mutter among themselves, and finally, another noble stood up.
"Well, isn’t that just the ex-companion’s fault? Honestly, he should have left for the temple long ago as per the goddess’s decree. The fact that he’s still here is not only concerning, but also the cause of this ss."
Everyone paused and looked at the speaker. Even Shuu noticed the familiar-looking face staring back at him. Black hair and green eyes with facial features similar to the Crown Prince. There could only be one person who looked like this...
"Uncle, please keep yourself in check. Do not make assumptions-"
"Assumptions? I am just stating the facts. You people are the ones being foolish. Kaiden is not even married to that cherished ’companion’ of his, so on what grounds do they deny the goddess’s will? Sure, they had a child, but the new Empress can adopt him. Just get Kaiden to accept the new companions, and this will all be fine."
Duke Inferno’s voice carried across the council hall, and everyone paused before chatter erupted again.
The louder these voices beca, the more Prince Yunn seed to develop a headache.
Shuu had not said anything until now, but he did feel annoyed and angry at this discussion. At the sa ti, he knew he could not entirely fault these people.
They were devoted to the goddess, so seeing her decree ignored must have stirred their tempers.
The voices in the room grew louder and louder until Princess Danielle decided to step in.
"Everyone, silence. We need to co to a decision as soon as possible."
Her authority caused the room to fall quiet at once as all eyes turned to her. She stood regally before them, and Shuu felt a sense of admiration.
It was clear that both Prince Yunn and the imperial family needed her.
But not everyone was pleased with her presence or her decision.
"Tsk, do you truly think you have any right to speak here, Princess Danielle? As far as I know, you are an outsider as well. Your marriage to Prince Yunn...how many years has it been now? At this rate, you may never marry him at all. So why don’t you return to your nation and find another fiancé while you still can?"
Duke Inferno spoke up, and his words struck Princess Danielle where it hurt.
"Uncle, this is too much. Do not speak to my fiancée like that, or else-"
"Or else what? What did I say wrong? Your brother, Emperor Kaiden, does not seem to be in any rush to marry anyti soon. And knowing you, you will not marry before your brother does. So where does that leave Princess Danielle? She’s just an outsider-"
"Uncle, I won’t tolerate this any longer..."
Prince Yunn’s anger was reaching a boiling point, threatening to spill over at any second. No one had ever seen him truly enraged before, so the atmosphere grew tense as they wondered what would happen next.
However, before Prince Yunn could draw his sword, Princess Danielle stopped him by grabbing his arm.
