After a few more minutes of teasing, the two found themselves at the door of the usual guiding room. Kellen took a few seconds to compose himself, much to Taylor’s delight, before they knocked and entered. Inside they found the Captain, shirtless, with the pad already in place while he was speaking into an earpiece. His long fingers were typing away on his phone, while Pala sat next to him, doing the exact sa thing but with her shirt on.

Both looked up when they entered, and a look crossed both of their faces. The Captain stopped typing and reached out, putting a hand on Pala’s shoulder. Pala looked ready to pounce on Kellen, and not in a good way.

"Guide Woods, I cannot believe that you-" She started, and the Captain patted her shoulder comfortingly.

"Now now, Pala. He was only looking out for us." He soothed, but when Kellen t the Captain’s gaze, his eyes were rather serious. He swallowed.

"What happened?" Kellen asked, pulling his jacket off. He tossed it to the side, not noticing how the Captain froze at the sight of Kellen in his Field Guide uniform. Kellen began pulling off his leather straps, before taking off both of his shirts. It was then that he noticed how the Captain seed stunned. The Captain shook his head as if breaking a spell before he spoke.

"The video that Casper took and sent to the group chat. Sohow, it was leaked to the dia. It’s already blown up." Kellen looked back at Taylor, and it was clear that she had known what had happened. So of the things she said now began to make sense. Kellen sighed, putting the pads onto his chest.

"What parts leaked?" He asked and Pala ran her hand over her braids, clearly exhausted.

"The part where you were throwing the Guide around, and also breaking the other Guide’s arm. Everyone is in an uproar." She turned her gaze to Kellen, hostile. "I’m glad you stood up for us, but could you have not done it in a quieter setting?" She must have had a lot of work to do since she was the Guild’s PR person. He did feel bad, but he wasn’t going to apologise.

"Can I see the videos?" He asked, and the Captain quickly pulled it up on his phone. Kellen moved over until their shoulders were touching and took control of the phone. The Captain stiffened as Kellen watched the videos. After he watched them twice, he shook his head. "This isn’t from Casper’s video. Casper was to the left of , where this is shot more like they were behind . I’m sure if you compared it to his footage it would be slightly off. Soone else is clearly trying to make out to be the bad guy." Kellen scoffed, smiling slightly. "I’m not apologising for anything I did in there." He told both of them seriously and Pala looked like she wanted to scream.

"People are going to demand an explanation Guide Woods! What the hell am I supposed to say to them?" She demanded, and Kellen took a mont to think. He wasn’t aware, but he was leaning slightly on the Captain, who held his breath as he waited for Kellen to speak.

"Release the whole video. The one that Casper has, and tell them I’ll do a press conference tomorrow. They can ask any questions they want tomorrow, so hold off on speculation. I’ll always own up to my mistakes, but this isn’t one." He was serious, calm, and Pala swallowed at the look in his eyes. She put her tablet down before resting her head in her hands on her knees, curling in on herself.

"I thought you were going to be a breath of reason coming into the Guild. I should have fucking known better. Barely two fucking weeks in and we have to deal with a scandal involving you throwing other Guides around like ragdolls and breaking bones. I really should have known better. Hill and Gunther like you. The fucking Captain likes you." The Captain chuckled, patting her shoulder with his hand.

"Pala, Mr. Woods is a voice of reason. You understand what those Espers could have done if he hadn’t stepped in to punish those Guides, right?" She groaned, curling in on herself even more.

"Fuck. I don’t want to even imagine the bloodbath. Or how much money we’d have to pay out for their wrongful death clause from their contracts. Ugh! Why did this have to happen when we’re working so hard to keep the dia off of our back until we have more control over the new gate?" Pala was clearly at her wits end. Kellen did feel bad for her, especially if she had to et up with Rene on occasion. The poor woman was going through it.

Maybe she needed a team to help her? Speaking of, why was only Pala in charge of the PR of a Guild this big? She had to be running herself ragged. No wonder she was wound up tighter than a coil.

As if she could hear Kellen’s thoughts, she turned her pink gaze towards him, startling him. "Guide Woods, are you sure you want us to release the full video? You make so very serious threats in it." She asked. Kellen’s smile was soft as he nodded.

"Yes, I do. I didn’t lie to them, and I stand by what I said. I ant every word. I know that this isn’t going to reflect back only positively, but I believe that the full scenario should be seen by the public, not the little snippet of violence that they have been given. Context is always important, even if it isn’t always beneficial to ." Taylor’s long, loud sigh had all three of them turning to look at her. She glanced at Kellen, shaking her head.

"While I admit that the video is quite impressive, I’m not sure if releasing it is a good idea. You know how the public loves to tear you apart, Kellen." While the Captain seed slightly confused by her words, Kellen and Pala were not.

Every ti sothing happened that involved the Woods Family, people loved to talk about it. They loved hearing about the imprinted pair who had two kids who both happened to look exactly like their parents, and both had the powers of the sa gender. Gwen with her Mom’s Esper powers, and Kellen with his Dad’s Guide powers.

But the dia can also be cruel. Just as cruel as those doctors and nurses who worked at the Center. Kellen couldn’t rember all of the newspaper articles and other things that popped up once it was found out he was a C Class Guide. It was awful, especially after when Gwen awakened as an A Class Esper. Kellen knew it was only because he genuinely loved his family that he didn’t turn cold and bitter about the situation. But this was different.

He was different.

Kellen smiled at Taylor. "I know. I appreciate your concern, but I would rather deal with this now instead of letting it blow over and getting worse. Plus, Gunther did suggest that I save coming out like a Field Guide for my next press conference." Everyone groaned.

"I cannot let you do anything without my approval from now until we announce the gate type after this, alright? You have to put your little Guide head down and focus on training the new Field Guides. Am I clear?" Pala’s voice was strained, as if she was holding on by a thread. Her pink gaze even seed a little crazed. Kellen worried if she was taking care of herself.

Kellen nodded, more for her health then anything else. She searched his face, before hanging her head again and sighing. She took a few seconds to herself before straightening her back and getting to her feet. "Alright. I’ll leave now so you two can have your session. I an it, Guide Woods. Worst case scenario, I’ll have you locked up in your apartnt until I say so." Her threat was heard and received. She left in a flurry after that, leaving the three of them alone like usual. The Captain sighed.

"Sorry about all that. Pala nearly had a heart attack when she saw the video circling online. She agrees with what you did, but isn’t allowed to say that publicly because of her position." Kellen nodded at the Captain’s words. The Captain stared into Kellen’s face, scanning, his hand sneaking to Kellen’s to rub small circles on the skin of his hand. Taylor cleared her throat.

"Can we get started please? I do have other places to be after this, you know." Kellen flushed, withdrawing his hand and moving to sit across from the Captain. He felt bad now, since he was taking up Taylor’s ti. No doubt she had stuff she needed to deal with involving the gate, the situation, and even the shakes he’d asked for. She was a busy woman, and he was grateful she was willing to give up so much of her ti for them.

Kellen held out his hand to the Captain, who stared at Kellen for a mont before taking it and giving it a squeeze. Taylor counted them down, and Kellen began guiding.

"The Captain was in a better state than what he had worried about. He had used his powers, but the waves weren’t absent of Kellen’s colours. The iridescent shimr of the caps of the waves entranced Kellen for a mont, but he gathered himself quickly. He began tossing his rocks into the water, watching as they shattered and shimred into the water.

It was a little upsetting that soone so capable and handso also had a beautiful map of his powers, but the Captain was Kellen’s pair, so it took the jealousy down a step. It also helped that even though this area was so beautiful on its own, this enchanting nightti ocean was because of Kellen. He poured his powers into the Captain. They made this together.

"Kellen, that’s enough." Taylor’s voice broke through his guiding, and Kellen slowly withdrew his hand. She was packing up rather quickly, but still had enough ti to throw three shakes towards Kellen. He caught them one after the other as the Captain took off his pads and began to pull on his shirt.

Kellen was actually a little surprised that the Captain hadn’t said anything about his uniform. Kellen wasn’t disappointed or anything, just confused. He had always made a comnt if he changed clothes. Or, at least he thought he had.

"I’ll see you two tomorrow. Are we going to push back the ti even further now that Kellen has a class in the afternoon?" Kellen glanced at the Captain who shrugged.

"As long as we decide on a ti I can make it work." He said. Kellen felt that it would suck a little bit to leave everything to Brent at the end of the day, but it would be a chance for the man to interact with Espers, so he might see it as a win.

"Let’s lock it in for near the end of the day for now. If that’s okay with you two?" Kellen asked tentatively. The Captain glanced at his phone, smiled, and t his gaze. Kellen hadn’t realised that the Captain hadn’t looked him in the eyes at all until this mont. It ca as a shock to see his hazel eyes staring back at him.

Sothing...swirled in their depths and loud, blaring alarm bells started screaming. He should not be alone with this man right now.

"That works wonderfully for , Mr. Woods. Green, does that work for you?" The Captain asked and she sighed.

"It will. I’ll see you two for sure near the end of the day tomorrow then. Have a good night you two." She bolted out of there, and Kellen found himself topless around the Captain once more.
