Chapter 293: Heartless
The devil and No. 444 indeed went straight towards the hall to confront the Judge about his decision but to their disappointnt, the latter did not even welco them to go inside and just promptly let his subordinate say that he wouldn’t et them.
Although it’s frustrating, there’s really nothing they could do. No. 444 also needed to continue his job so to avoid unnecessary trouble, he let the devil wear the sa outfit as him and start doing his work.
So in the next few more hours, the devil watched the legendary No. 444 travel around to many dangerous places and fought non-stop with different enemies. This man seems to be injected with sothing that aroused his body to fight endlessly. Even when facing many strong opponents and just got won from a fight, this grim reaper only ’rests’ for a while before moving again— no, can it even be called rest? He clearly hasn’t replenished his energy yet but he goes to war again and again.
Like a machine that doesn’t know when to stop.
The devil was really speechless. Even he knows how to stop for so ti because what’s the use of being already strong enough to be feared? That’s the most strong protection so his enemies won’t just wildly chase him. If he beca this grim reaper’s target, he wouldn’t even doubt that he would not rest until he wins against him.
The devil observed the man. No. 444 is living with all the expectations and myths around him. He is indeed strong and very ruthless on his job. Never hesitate to kill and subdue his targets.

Thus when he finally ’rested’, he asked his question.
"Why don’t you rest?"

They are now casually resting in the middle of the forest and there’s still the corpse of a demon just a distance away from them. He was leaning on a tree while the man was sitting on a rock and just silently wiping his sword.
No. 444 pauses his action before answering. "I’m working."
He raised his brow at that answer. "Working, yes. But I think they didn’t require you to be this workaholic."
He had seen many grim reapers who were even just laid back. So were too lazy because they’ve been enjoying themselves in the human world. There are still many who indeed seek adventures but not like him, who seem to be desperate.
He tilted his head to think. "Do you want sothing?" He also rembered that grim reapers are rewarded after accumulating rits. Is this the reason why he’s hard working?
"I already did." The man answered and slightly gestured with the sword.
"Then why are you still working so hard?" Does he still want more weapons?
Unexpectedly, the man shook his head. "I’m just working."
The devil was speechless again. This is the first ti that he felt that he finally t soone who can make him feel this way.
Just like what happened, No. 444 indeed just cleaned his sword before deciding to continue again. However this ti, they didn’t want to find another battle, instead, they teleported to the human world.
They were now standing on the side where a crowd was busy looking into sothing. It seems to be an accident and he was now instructed to receive the soul.
No. 444’s eyes flashed in a golden light for a second before striding towards the chaos while he also leisurely followed him.
There’s indeed an accident in the center. A damaged car was turned upside down and they saw a corpse laying inside. It was a woman who’s already bathing with her own blood and lifeless. While the crowd was busy worrying about this, No. 444 just went directly to the soul of the dead who’s just standing in front of her own body with a terrified expression on her face.
"Lin Yifei, 24 years old, died in a car accident today at 2:45 in the afternoon. Please co with ," No. 444 announced and stopped a few steps away from his client.
The woman turned her back and saw two n wearing black robes, obviously very strange and didn’t look like ordinary people. What’s more, the man in front is even looking directly at her.
Her eyes widened and she quickly shook her head when she realized who’s in front of her. "N-No! I don’t want to go yet!"
"You are no longer alive. You have no right to stay here." the man bluntly said.
She shook her head even more, her eyes were frantic, full of fear and panic.
"T-That’s not true! I can still be saved! There will be help for !" She turned her head towards the crowd and saw them calling for an ambulance. "Look! They’re calling for an ambulance! They will send to the hospital!"
And coincidentally, they heard the familiar wang from an ambulance so she beca excited and pointed it enthusiastically. "They’re here! They’re here to save !"
She was feeling relief when she saw the rescuers holding a stretcher. A man quickly went to her and put his hand on her pulse. But his actions next was like a cold water splashed on her.
The man actually shook his head to everyone and spoke. "She’s already dead."
"!!!!" She gasped in horror.
"W-Wait! That’s not true! I’m still here! I can be saved!" A feeling of despair began to overwhelm her. She frantically even tries to position herself on her body in an attempt to possess her own body but no matter how she tried, she could no longer enter herself.
"N-No! This is not true! This is not true!" She started screaming while denying her tragic fate.
She was just clearly driving normally! She was still on her way to an important eting! She was just going to a job that will definitely secure her promotion! She still hasn’t begun enjoying her life yet! She’s not really going to end like this!
"Miss Lin, please co with ." That cold voice snapped her back. She didn’t hesitate and knelt in front of the man and pleaded for rcy and another chance.
"M-Mister! Sir! P-Please give a chance!" Her tears were no longer just normal but a streak of blood. Her eyes were pleading and begging to the grim reaper.
"P-Please give a chance to live! I’m not ready yet! I still have many things to do! It’s not my ti yet, please!"
"Miss Lin, I don’t have the power to bring back soone alive." The man answered her directly.
"N-No!" She cries loudly, wailing all her resentnt and unwillingness to her fate.
The devil on the side just looked at the situation nonchalantly. He doesn’t care about what happened but is more curious about what he will do. He heard that they must only send those souls who are willing to leave so they have to grant a wish for them.
Yet before Lin Yifei could even speak her pleas, a golden magic circle already appeared under her and a small number of butterflies flew circling on her.
Her eyes widened. "Wait!"
But the butterflies already engulfed her soul and she directly disappeared in front of them.
The devil paused at the scene. This is clearly different from how a grim reaper works.
And not just him but also He Li who ca with them has the sa doubt in his mind.
As far as he knew, Qin An was not like this. He rembered the young man said that grim reapers should always hear the wishes of the souls so they will leave voluntarily. Only those who don’t deserve can be dragged directly.
The woman was clearly just a normal person.
This is unlike the grim reaper that he knew.
He Li stares at the man. There was not a single light on his eyes, just empty and freezing.
This grim reaper seems to be heartless.
