~Zayn’s POV~

"I seriously do not want to lose him now," I sobbed into his shirt. "Not like this. Not when I just found him again after so many years. It’s not fair, Evric. I just got him back and now he might leave forever."

"Hey, look at ," Evric said, pulling back just enough to wipe my eyes. "Be positive, Zayn. You have to be. This hospital is one of the best in the country; he’s in good hands. We have to trust the process. Instead of thinking about the end, reach out to him. Call him or text him. He needs to know you’re coming. Be his strength right now, because he’s going to need it to fight."

I nodded slowly, forcing down the tight ache in my throat. With Evric standing firm beside , refusing to let slip back into the dark, a fragile sense of hope finally took root. I leaned closer and brushed a gentle, grateful kiss against his lips, wordless, but filled with thanks for being the light I hadn’t realized I was searching for.

Afterward, we withdrew into the quiet sanctuary of our bedroom.

We showered together in silence, the warm water easing the weight of the day from our bodies.

Once we stepped out, Evric wrapped a towel around my shoulders and gently dried my body before carefully blow-drying my hair, his movents unhurried and tender.

We slipped into our matching silk pajamas, the cool fabric soothing against my skin, and climbed into bed. Evric drew back against him, his arms firm and protective around my waist, his warmth steady behind . Held like that, safe and grounded, sleep eventually found us both.

The next morning, the soft light of dawn filtered through the curtains. Evric woke up first, content to lie there and watch the peaceful rise and fall of my chest. When my eyes finally fluttered open, the first thing I saw was him, his gaze fixed on with such unwavering devotion that I couldn’t help but smile.

"Good morning, baby," I rasped, my voice still thick with sleep.

"Good morning, love," he murmured, leaning down to press a lingering kiss to my lips. I sighed into the kiss, moving closer to him and hugging him tight, wishing we could stay in this bubble forever.

After a brief silence, Evric spoke softly.

"Babe, before we start the trip today, I need to stop by the office. I’ve been away for a while, and there are a few things I need to check, it’ll only take a couple of hours. We’ll head out in the evening and travel through the night, so we’ll arrive late. Is that okay with you?"

I nodded, eting his eyes. "I’m totally fine with that."

Then Evric added gently, "First thing tomorrow morning, we’ll head straight to the hospital. Your father needs you there. And don’t forget to reach out to Liana, so both of you can have so ti with him."

"Alright, baby." I didn’t want to be apart from him, not even for a few hours. I lifted my gaze to him. "I want to go with you," I said softly. "I want to co to the office with you."

Evric smiled, brushing a stray hair from my forehead. "Okay, baby. If that’s what you want, I’d love to have you there."

We moved through our morning routine with synchronized ease, showering together, sharing a quick breakfast, and dressing in sharp, clean clothes. Once we were ready, we stepped out of the house and headed straight for the car, prepared to face the day’s responsibilities before the long journey toward my father began.

When we arrived at Evric’s office, the atmosphere shifted instantly to one of high-powered professionalism. His staff greeted him with a mix of relief and respect, and he acknowledged them with a curt, polite nod, never once letting go of my hand as we navigated the marble floors toward his private suite.

Once inside, Evric settled onto the plush leather sofa before shedding his jacket and hanging it up. Almost imdiately, Jas entered with a mountain of files, and the floodgates opened. It seed every departnt head had been waiting for this mont; a steady stream of assistants and executives flowed in, all needing a signature, a decision, or a mont of his ti.

Even though he’d been working on his laptop while we were away, the sheer volu of paperwork awaiting him was staggering. I sat back, watching him move with an effortless, commanding grace. He was decisive, sharp, and intensely focused, tearing through the workload with a serious expression that made my pulse quicken.

After the last staff mber had filed out and the heavy oak doors clicked shut, a charged silence settled over the room. I couldn’t resist, pulling out my phone, I captured him in this rare, unguarded mont: spectacles perched on his nose, the sleeves of his crisp white shirt rolled up to reveal strong, commanding forearms.

"Babe," I called out softly.

He looked up, and I caught the shot just as a small, tired smile broke through his concentration. I walked over to his desk, leaning against the edge. "I needed a picture with my hot future husband. You look incredible when you’re in ’boss mode,’ you know that?"

Evric chuckled, leaning back in his chair. Even with his busy schedule, he let take a few more pictures, giving ti to indulge my little whim.

Satisfied with the shots, I leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to his lips before he returned to his work.

"If you need anything, love," he said softly, "just let know."

"How can I help you finish faster?" I asked, my voice dropping an octave.

"Just stay close," he sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Be my cheerleader, love. I have a lot to get through."

I took a seat directly across from him, but as the minutes turned into hours, my "cheering" took on a different form. Watching his focused intensity, the way his jaw flexed as he read, and the sheer power he radiated began to stir sothing deep inside . I felt a familiar, honey-thick heat pooling in my stomach.

Moving slowly, I reached up and unbuttoned the first three buttons of my shirt, letting the fabric gape open. I leaned forward, resting my chin on my hand, and fixed him with a heavy, seductive gaze.

When Evric finally raised his head to reach for another file, his breath hitched. He saw the change in my eyes imdiately, the darkened iris, the blatant hunger.

"Babe," he warned, his voice straining for control.

"Yes, Daddy?" I answered, my voice a low purr.

He groaned softly, closing his eyes for a second. "I’m trying to rush so we can leave on ti, Zayn. Don’t do this."

"Co and attend to , Daddy," I whispered, sliding my gaze down to the files and then back to him. "Work on with that sa intensity. Forget the paperwork for a mont."

"You’re being very loud, you know that?" He murmured, though his eyes were now roaming over my exposed collarbone.

"What’s wrong with being loud? I’m loud because my man is making love to , and I enjoy it."

Evric shook his head. "But... you know there are people outside my office."

I smirked, tilting my head. "And what’s wrong with them knowing my man is making love to ?"

"It’s work hours, Zayn."

"Then co work on ."
