~Evric’s POV~
"Zayn..." my voice cracked, but I steadied it, dropping lower, heavier with tension. "Who is Evans?"
He didn’t even look at , just said flatly, "Will you let out or not?"
I instilled myself firmly in front of the door, refusing to move. My silence was answer enough.
Zayn’s gritting. "You’re still apologizing for one thing," he said coldly, "and yet you want to add another to the list?"
I threw my hands up in surrender. "Never... no more. Please, forgive , baby." My voice trembled between guilt and stubborn love. All thoughts of Evans vanished; I stopped arguing and focused only on making things right.
His lips pressed into a thin line before he finally muttered, "I’m hungry. Order us food."
I tilted my head, narrowing my eyes. "Will you forgive after I order the food?"
His silence cut deeper than any word.
I stepped closer, sliding my arms around his waist, pressing my forehead lightly against his chest. "Baby, please," I whispered, clinging to him. "Please forgive ."
He exhaled slowly, his body stiff under my touch. Then his voice ca, smoother but laced with warning. "I’ll think about forgiving you. But don’t pressure . Stop asking already and order the food."
Relief tugged a smile at the corner of my lips. "The food’s already on the way. I placed the order before you even asked."
Zayn shook his head, finally turning to et my gaze, his eyes filled with exasperation and reluctant amusent. "Evric... you’re just impossible."
I smirked, tugging him closer. "But I’m still your baby. You love , right?"
Without waiting for his answer, I spun away dramatically, spreading my arms like I was standing under a spotlight. In an exaggerated voice, I sang, "I wanna be yours..." dragging the last note out as if the Arctic Monkeys had personally handed the mic.
Zayn’s lips twitched, then curved into a reluctant smile.
"You know what, Evric?" he said, trying to hold back laughter. "You should only sing for . No matter what happens, don’t sing outside."
I stopped mid-verse, feigning offense. "Is it that bad?"
He chuckled low, shaking his head. "Don’t worry... I can listen to you. But if you sing outside, even newborn babies will cry nonstop."
I gasped in mock offense. "If I can’t sing, then let dance for you."
He arched an eyebrow. "Go ahead, try. But don’t even think about doing any Michael Jackson moves."
I smirked. "I’m better than him."
Zayn burst out laughing, his laughter bright and genuine, and my chest ward at the sight. I had been trying to make him laugh, hoping he would forgive , and God, I loved how adorable he looked when he was happy.
"Oh please, Evric. Better than Michael? Don’t say that again," he teased, wiping his eyes from laughing. Then he added with a wicked grin, "The only thing you’re good at is sex."
I leaned closer, whispering against his ear, "I also know how to make money... big bag of money. Don’t forget that. Both are the best, money and sex," I declared, thumping my chest playfully. Then, without missing a beat, I slid right into my own improvised song, my voice low and teasing:
🎶 Singing sex in the morning, sex in the night, I could fuck you all day... Baby, take all my money. 🎶
Zayn froze for a second, eyes wide, then burst out laughing so hard he nearly doubled over. "Wait... who the hell sang that nonsense?" he asked, trying to catch his breath, his cheeks flushing from laughter.
I leaned closer, tapped his nose with my finger, and grinned. "Evric’s lyrics, straight from . Original. One of a kind."
He shook his head, still chuckling, and said, "You’re ridiculous. If you ever release that as a real song, I swear I’ll deny knowing you."
"Lie all you want," I shot back with a wink, "but deep down you know it was written just for you, babe. My number-one fan."
We both laughed, the tension slowly fading, even though he was still being stubborn about forgiving , seeing him laugh, even if it was at my shaless, off-key lyrics, made my chest pang in the best way.
"Fine," he said finally, smirking at . "Evric’s lyrics, huh? Keep them inside these four walls. The world isn’t ready."
I laughed and pulled him closer. "Don’t worry, baby. They’re only for you."
Not long after, the food arrived. Zayn asked casually, "I hope it was delivered to Nuala and Liana, too?"
I shook my head. "No, they left already. The driver ca to pick them up this morning."
Zayn frowned. "Oh... I didn’t know that."
"Liana dropped you a ssage," I reminded him gently. "But you weren’t even trying to check.
After we finished eating, Zayn leaned back against his chair, his eyes soft but probing. "So, tell ," he said, "how did your trip go?"
I wiped my mouth with a napkin and gave him a casual smile. "It was fine."
He studied for a mont before tilting his head. "Since you’re back from your trip... I haven’t seen Mr. Karl at all. Didn’t you co back with him?"
I nodded. "I did. But I told him to go ho and rest. He’ll be here soon."
Zayn humd thoughtfully, tapping his fingers lightly against the table. "I thought you said this project was going to make you more open to the world. But it doesn’t seem like it. Have you even finished it?"
"Yes, I have," I replied quickly, eting his sharp gaze.
"Then why haven’t they announced the launch yet?" he pressed. "By now, shouldn’t you be on billboards and everywhere?"
I chuckled, leaning back with a grin. "And here you are saying you don’t enjoy my performances right now. But the truth is... You can’t wait to see beco a celebrity."
Zayn rolled his eyes. "Evric, be serious. I’m asking because I’m curious."
I reached across the table, brushing his hand. "Don’t worry, baby. The team decided to launch the project both here and in Dubai. After that, your man will be everywhere, on billboards, TV, and every dia outlet. Most business projects only go public after everything is finalized."
Zayn’s expression softened as understanding set in. "Now I get it. So, when’s the launch day here?"
"Weekend," I told him.
His brows furrowed. "You an tomorrow weekend?"
I shook my head. "No, next weekend."
"Okay," he said with a puny nod.
I stood, unable to resist, and moved to sit across his lap. His eyes flicked up to as I leaned in, my lips brushing his cheek before kissing him full. "You can’t wait for your man to be more famous, right?" I teased.
He rolled his eyes again, but there was a ghost of a smile tugging his lips. "Don’t dare think I’ve forgiven you. I’ll serve you your punishnt after we leave this resort. I don’t want my friends thinking our relationship is unhealthy if I go silent on you here."
I kissed him again, whispering against his lips, "Baby."
"What?" he asked flatly, though his eyes betrayed the warmth he tried to hide.
"You know I love you so much, right?"
"Yes," he said with a small nod.
"Then... can you forgive this once?" I pressed, hopeful.
His answer ca with a stubborn smirk. "No. I’ll forgive you, but not easily."
"Ohh, baby..." I groaned, letting my forehead fall against his.
Just then, my phone lit up with Jas’s na. I picked up, and his voice ca through briskly: "Boss, I’ve forwarded the file to your email. Check it."
I stood up reluctantly, slipping off Zayn’s lap. "Babe, I need to work quickly."
Zayn pushed back his chair, already standing. "Then I’ll go down to see my friends."
"Okay, baby," I said, stealing one last glance at him before turning to my laptop.
~Zayn’s POV~
It was ti.
I couldn’t delay it any longer. My chest felt heavy, weighed down by guilt, but also by the truth I had been avoiding. Nantam didn’t deserve what I had done to him.
For years, he had been my good friend, loyal, dependable, and always the one to stand by even when others questioned my choices. Yet when it ca to Evric, I shut him out. I lied. I hid sothing so important, and for what? Out of fear... out of not trusting the very person who had always had my back.
Yesterday, when the truth finally ca out, I expected him to explode, to curse , maybe even walk away. But he hadn’t. He hadn’t been angry about being with Evric. That part didn’t even matter to him. What hurt him, what truly broke him, was that I hadn’t trusted him enough to tell him the truth earlier.
So now, I’m going to apologize to him sincerely...
